Losing makes us better
-
After the Astros pound the Sox into reality, TLR will say how much better it makes them for 2023.
-
A few weeks ago I read an article from his only Boson call up in Sept, 2016. The coaching staff was frustrated with his numerous baserunning mistakes. His season ended pretty quickly (8 games) for all the things he did so badly. He couldn't even survive Sept call up as a very hot prospect. I think that after over paying him that huge signing bonus, they were more than happy to let him go for Sale. At least he corrected his baserunning mistakes with our Sox by just not getting on base....problem solved!

This is the Dumbest Team in Baseball
Rounding_Third replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is 2nd most dysfunctional org & team in all of sports next to Blackhawks! Congrats JR! -
I'll take Tepera's 3.89 era over 37 innings vs Kelly's 6.20 over just 20 innings any day; no brainer. Kelly may throw harder but Tepera pitches better. Same price this year but Kelly get $2m more next year. For what? Great thinking Tony! Kelly's torn biceps a better option than Tepera's disrespectful rant of friend, Dusty.
-
So thankful for the TLR wisdom to drop Tepera for a more expensive & injured Kelly who couldn't even start the season. TLR didn't want Tepera after his Astro's cheat comments and thought a torn biceps was a better choice. Gosh he's so smart! We can all learn so much baseball from him!

Eloy is still hurt, TLR still putting him in LF

He will remind us of that, as well....again and again until he forgets what he's talking about and intentionally walks us and goes back to sleep. -

7/16 Sox @ Twinkies 2:00PM Let’s get over .500!!

The man is literally obese. When so many depend on him to do all he can to perform at his highest level but instead, he chooses an agenda of self-indulgences deserves the "Selfish Asshole" label. This after being lavishly rewarded. Unacceptable! -

Clearly Lynn doesn't give a shit about the Sox; just his "fat" & probably last contract. Once on the books, he got as fat as he wanted. "Who cares, I'm rich, what else matters?" He'll lose some weight in the off season and eventually get somewhat decent in the 2nd half of 2023 as the club option gets him motivated. Have another pizza, asshole! -
LaRussa anthem story making national headlines
Rounding_Third replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Actually it was. The 1st (unofficial) national flag was created and raised in 1776 to celebrate the newly formed Continental Army. -
Nope! Their only chance is winning the Central. No way they make it as a WC team. Must win at least 13 games against Twins. Not impossible but unlikely. Besides, they're too busy counting their $'s and kissing their mirrors to give a crap.

Thank goodness Burger was DH tonight instead of baseball's most worthless pos Grandal. -
Serves up the long ball a bit. Good park for him to debut. Good luck kid! Have a night!
-
Because they were afraid to wake Tony up, he's always so grumpy.
-
"No" to both. For the most part, Sox will go with the pitching they have. Also, with both Cespedes & Colas in the org and maybe just a year or two away, there's no big, long term money on a RF now. Will go with Vaughn, Sheets, Engel patch work. However, both positions will get reviewed at trade deadline; if improvement is needed then hopefully Hahn deals.
-
RHP's historically get ~70% of the starts. Gavin and his .900 RHP OPS has to be the DH for all of them in 2022 until he shows he can no longer get it done or the Sox find a better LHB for DH. He can also sub at 1B & RF and be a late inning LH PH. He's just too valuable right now on a team with so little LH punch.

What you want them to do/what you think they will do
Rounding_Third replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Given the fact that the team payroll is going up by ~28.5m before the FO can blink means they're probably not going to do much. And that's before Giolito's arb raise and doesn't include any team option pick ups. Add to that, the prep for the upcoming Arb1's for Cease and Kopech after next year. There's also a few other important arb reviews/decisions such as Engel and Lopez. With my expectations being low, I realistically hope they can resign Leury, Hamilton, and Tepera (& ofc Giolito). And I hope they can option/trade Garcia and Kimbrel (deserves to be closer anyway) for decent prospects. Leury can be our every 2B with Romy as the super sub (or visa versa). What they actually do might be quite depressing given the financials. -
I think as a late inning PR/D-replacement, Hamilton has it over Goodwin by a wide margin. However, if needed, Goodwin should be called up over Williams. But I'm also wondering just what else does Mendick have to do to prove he's so much more valuable than Lamb. I sense it too. Yermin needs to sharpen his discipline and focus like he was in April. He's swinging at a lot more junk lately; too aggressive.
-
Not sure if I understand what you mean. But don't I think control really plays a role in that decision. They wouldn't risk his career because they're outside of that window.
-
Not to throw water on the fire, but isn't it likely the Sox have an innings limit on him this year if he keeps keepin' on? If they're doing it for Kopech, why not Rodon? Has anyone asked about it with TLR or Katz? I may have missed it but haven't heard of their Rodon plans. Its makes sense to me that the Sox trade for another starter as insurance for the entire rotation & Kopech. If there're no issues, a 6 man rotation would be a good idea anyway. So far, there's no starter in the org that can be trusted but that could change by the deadline.
