Option C, but If we could get Kemp for just Adolfo, we should just do that now and hell just make the trade bigger and get Bassit too.

Most people interpret the sox not giving Rodon a QO as evidence that they were afraid he would take it and that he is damaged goods. This is completely logically and possibly correct. However there is another possible interpretation. Consider the following: 1. I believe Rodon has made a significant mechanics change. Earlier in injury plagued career He was more upright and had to forcefully whip his arm to get velocity. This put strain on on the smaller muscles and ligaments which can lead to injury. Now he drives more with his legs which naturally whips his arm. He essentially takes much of the strain off his by pitching this way and he increase power as evidenced by the 100mph he has thrown this year. this could mean that some of these injuries may be a thing of the passed...maybe not. 2. Rodon's dead arm isn't necessarily an indicator of injury. He essentially went 2 years without throwing a significant amount of innings. Of course he had deadarm. Many healthy pitchers experience deadarm at times during a season. 3. The Sox have the medicals on rodon. They have the best idea if the arm is injured or tired. Considering he threw 99mph in his last start I'm going with tired. 4. I do think the sox were scared of him taking the qo, but not for the obvious reasons. Suppose Rodon Takes the qo and he has a cy young quality season that finishes strong. Then he becomes a FA and someone gives him a 5 year hundred and something deal. Now, The sox may think that not giving Rodon a qo signals that he is damaged goods when he is not. The may be hoping to get Carlos for 3 years at 48 mil. Maybe more with incentives. If they are right about him they have a steal. 5. Its a theory, maybe not the right one, but something to consider.

then cross him off the list...

He also had shoulder problems from terrible slides. That can definitely zap strength. I had relatively mild case of covid, yet I still have some weird reoccurring symptoms. I would not be shocked if people experience lung, circulatory , & renal diseases 10 years or more done the line due to Covid.

True. and they probably weren't as bad as they were ranked. I believe Hudson was somewhere around that time, maybe a little earlier.

mmmm, cotton candy grapes. I second that emotion
-
but wait, didn't I read in some thread today that are minor league suck. How cab this be?
-
hindsight, prolly this one.

I agree, but remember it looked really bad for Patrick Kane...and then it didn't at all when the accuser was caught evidence tampering. We'll eventually see what the courts decide.

Detroit needed a veteran anchor to their staff. I'm not sure rodriguez is that. I think he fits better on a team rounding out an established staff. I'm glad they didn't bring back Verlander or someone like that.

Moose is shift reliant as he has little range at 2b, castillo would be nice. Winker hits a quality lh bat, but he is bad defensively...another DH type. In fact, CBS sportsline had a recent article stating he should be a DH, skewered his defense.
-
Probably won't hit that well, BUT they will field better then Manny so there is acyually ground in between.
-
Accept he is going to create more runs then he is going to cost almost always. If an OF can just catch every ball he gets to and is a good hitter it will way outweigh any perceived shortcomings. How many balls are actually even hit to an outfielder a game? Sometimes none to a specific position. And you limit this liability by replacing any suspect of with a defensive replacement after their last at bat or after 7th while winning. Also Eloy seems to have made a commitment to his Defensive and seems to be improving. Also our home park is friendly to range challenged outfielders. Our K rich pitching staff limits flyballs. The trio of eloy/vaughn/sheets is not a permanent problem as 1b could open up in the near future and you could trade one AFTER their trade value is at a peak not selling low as we would now.

The braves can't seriously think of contending with Soler and Rosario in the of, oh wait The Astros can't seriously think of contending with Alvarez and Brantley in the corners...oh wait The red sox can't seriously think of contending with terrible team defense ...oh wait I can go on here. No one is great defensively at every position, you have to make trade offs. How many games did sheets/vaughn/jimenez cost us last year defensively in the o (I can't think of 1)? How many did they win with their bats? Engel (and however else we get as a 5th of) will be out there in the late innings replacing the trio. Also, Sheets?vaughn have yet to have an off season/spring training where they have played of. They can get better with work if they set their minds to it. Harold Baines was not a good fielder when drafted, but then Jimmy piersall worked with him. He was then a very good rfuntil knee injuries made him a DH. If our of defense becomes an albatross around our necks, I'm sure we can trade for 1 at the deadline for a better fit then Conforto and sheets/vaughn trade values will likely be higher.
-
lots of things win games. The Royals won a ws with speed and defense. Vaughn and sheets were both rookies. Vaughn will likely hit more homeruns. I like both players. I would not say Sheets is the better prospect.

1of 3 overused phrases I hate seeing on this board. 1. Its a fire-able offense... no it isn't 2. trade player x for player y, who says no? Probably most people. 3. trade this for that, prove me wrong. I have better things to do with me life and you can't prove or disprove hypotheticals that won't happen, just express my opinion. That being said, I don't think we should be trading Vaughn.
-
Is conforto even better defensively than Vaughn? Really?
-
Cedric Mullens is not going to be available. As much as I like him, he can't throw in cf, he'd be a huge liability throwing from rf. He has a lf arm.

The Sox will clearly be the the favorites to win the central again, but I would not assume it would be a cakewalk. Key injuries can derail a season fast. Also, Cleveland can run out 6 legit starting pitchers and 1 of the better bullpens. They are starting to put some nice good young players around Jose Ramirez. They can be quite the thorn in any contenders side especially if things break well for them. K.C. and Detroit should be better. Minnesota can hit but their pitching is currently in a shambles.

Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?
kleedawg replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is not obvious. I don't believ the option would be picked up otherwise. -
Awesome, I'm trying to win the internet...me 1 Balta nothing

Regarding Scherzer, Prior to the deadline he would only accept a trade to the west coast. I think That unless the sox grossly overpay (lol) there is very little chance he signs with us. The Angels may be the favorites here, but every California teams except the A's will have interest in Max.
-
Plz they did not do this. The rested INJURED players so they could be as close to 100% come playoff time rather than play them through injury which may have lost those players for the playoffs. And Yes it cost them homefield and that made a difference. Yet, it still was probably the wisest choice. No TLR decisions during the playoffs were more of the issue.

Maybe he believes Tampa would still do Kimbrel for Glasnow that was offered at the trade deadline? -
True, but I just took the statement at face value.
