Not only that but he seemed to be trying to teach the players how to do things properly, and to have the right attitude, win or lose. At the moment the attitude is possibly the biggest problem, the players seem totally demotivated and indifferent. Renteria was an average manager but after the last 3 seasons even an average manager would seem like a massive improvement.
-
But the last 2 1/2 seasons the attitude has stunk; bad performances are one thing but the whole atmosphere around the team has been one of indifference. Ultimately it is the manager's job to motivate players. amongst other things, at least under Ricky Renteria he was trying to imbue the right attitude in the players. Not saying this team would be winning in the play offs under Renteria, because the same depth issues and holes in the roster would exist, but the attitude might be better and as a result performances. But at the moment they seem to be losing and not caring, every now and again one of them trots out the same old phrases about how much they want things to improve and this is too talented a bunch of players to keep losing, but the proof is out their on the field, they are simply going through the motions and losing .

Giolito & Reynaldo to LAA. Update: Angels put on waivers
Chimpton replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Exactly, this time last year some people on here were calling for Giolito do be Dfa'd. Getting 2 top 5 prospects is a fair trade, if only the Sox development could actually help them progress into good MLB players. -

Updated MLB Farm System Rankings After 2023 MLB Draft
Chimpton replied to The Kids Can Play's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is one of the biggest failings of this organisation, many of the prospects drafted or traded for in the last few years have simply failed to live up to their billing. In very few of those cases were the original drafts or trades massively criticised but the Sox have ruined them in one way or another. Just look at the 'development' of Crochet and Kopech, neither of whom look like ever reaching anywhere near the higher end of their potential. -
Does this mean Hahn won't be selling anyone at the trade deadline now that the second half surge has begun and they are only 8.5 games back?
-
After the disaster the day before that was a nice win. Whether they can they string 2 good games together is open to question.
-
What a depressing reality! And the hope that trading will bring in anyone capable of helping next season is slim so long as Hahn is doing those trades.
-
Good to see that the 2nd half revival, and plenty of games left, didn't last one inning of the second half of the season.
-
Hahn has bricked up the window.
-
That would be the same Diekman who is now pitching better at Tampa Bay afterbeing released by the White Sox!
-
Concise and to the point!
-
Yes but Hahn should be held accountable for his failures. If his replacement is no better that is not a reason not to sack Hahn.
-
This will be difficult without trading the likes of Giolito and other high earners with short time left on contracts, and once you do that you might as well do a rebuild. Also there is virtually no point trying to improve the current team because even if by some miracle of mediocrity in the Central Division they scraped into the play offs they would be beaten in the first round anyway. I agree that Hahn supervising another rebuild is an unpleasant thought but as JR is unlikely to sack him we just have to hope that Hahn gets lucky this time (unlikely as that thought is).
-
Its almost as if he is trying to p*ss off the fans so that he then has an excuse to move the franchise due to lack of attendance.
-
Just not a very funny one.
-
29th in walks as well.
-
These bad seasons are one thing but the Whites Sox recently seem experts in the type of season where they are 5-10 games behind and just remain mediocre throughout, sometimes getting to 2 or 3 games behind but never really dropping out of contention totally, as a result Hahn hangs on and they never trade anyone or try a mini-rebuild.

LA Times assesses White Sox/Dodgers trade possibilities
Chimpton replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
An infielder with a back injury! Sounds a perfect fit for the White Sox team, bring him up! -
Agreed, basically Hahn is not very good, whether it is with signing veterans or young players
-
To be fair they did do that with Moncada and look what that got them!
