  1. That sounds like a Soviet Era euphemism for executed!
  2. Blimey those stats make the TLR era look like a golden age!
  3. Yeah, but with Hahn doing that tweaking it would only get worse not better.
  4. Why give Hahn another chance? He has had enough chances and produced this steaming turd.
  5. Pedro is only 16 games into his managerial career and whilst he has made some decisions that have turned out wrong it is a bit early to write him off completely. His potential over-use of starters may say more about his lack of confidence in the bullpen, and when choosing relievers he is pretty limited when so many of them seem to be pitching badly. Maybe he has used Diekman too much but he hardly has any in form alternatives, Bummer is giving away games, Lopez has blown games and Graveman has been equally bad, and they are the 3 'best' relievers we have fit and well. The offense is looking potentially better than last season but once again injuries are depriving the team of some of its better hitters and the replacements are, with the exception of Burger, pretty poor. We all knew there were holes all over the line up even with a healthy team, but when you remove so many of the round pegs you are bound to end up with square pegs for round holes. Pedro might turn out to be an below average manager or an above average manager but with this squad the chance of him showing his true abilities are severely limited by the squad Hahn and co have botched together.
  6. A fair assessment of the season so far and at 6-10 the prospect of the White Sox seeing .500 again this season is zero.
  7. At least until they lose a game, you can't break a lucky winning superstition!
  8. A bit early to say that but even a good manager would struggle with this poor squad.
  9. Is that the new Front Office slogan for this season?
  10. Not sure why anyone is in the least bit surprised, its the same old story with the same old players.
  11. New season same old story. The same players getting 'little' injuries that then turn into bigger injuries. It will only be a matter of time before Grandal or Robert pick up an injury. There is no point having 'talent' if it struggles to get on the field, and constantly missing games with minor injuries then affects form and the replacements we have are not up to it due to the poor squad building of Hahn and co.
  12. You forgot to mention Moncada and his 'bad back' which will no doubt will not be something minor and result in him missing half the season!
  13. Only 3 games in and some positive signs and some negative signs. But they have been at least competitive against the WS Champs from last season. My biggest worry is that the bullpen has not looked good at all in the last 2 days and if that continues it will be a long season! A 1-2 start could have been 2-1 but equally could have been 0-3 if the opening day comeback hadn't happened. But it is important to try not to start 1-3 as they would already be chasing and confidence at the beginning of this season will be important.
  14. If this was last season Leury Garcia would have been starting not on the bench to PH!
  15. I was responding to a comment that said if he played outfield he would be less likely to get hamstring injuries if he was 'stretched out' by playing outfield. But one factor, but I agree not the only one, in hamstring injuries is failure to stretch out or warm up before explosive exercise like running the bases, that is why athletes warm up before sprint races in athletics!
  16. Eloy hasn't managed 100 games since his rookie year, and I would argue that him trundling around the outfield is more likely to result in him being injured than DHing, if a professional 'athlete' can't stretch out properly before an at bat, that talks more about their lack of professionalism than anything else. I think we all want Eloy to play 100+ games and reproduce the form we saw at the end of last season, I just think playing him most games at DH and the occasional OF will give a better chance of that.
  17. Probably just focusing on a return helps Liam cope better with the whole treatment for cancer. Whenever he comes back or even is he doesn't, I just hope he is healthy in himself.
  18. I know 162 was not realistic, for any player, but Eloy has only managed more than100 games once in 4 seasons. Keeping him out of the outfield would reduce the risk of injury although as we discovered last season base running is just as hazardous.
  19. Oh no I agree 125-130 would be great by the standards of recent seasons. And it is worth noting Eloy has never managed that many games in a season, in fact he has only played more than 100 in one season and that was 4 years ago!
  20. New season and already Moncada and Eloy have managed to get injuries, I know they are both supposed to be minor injuries but it doesn't exactly fill you with confidence that they can play a full 162 game season without being on the injured list. No doubt Moncada's 'rib contusion' will be blamed when he has an underwhelming start to the season with the bat. And if Eloy is getting calf cramps after 2 innings why oh why have him running about the outfield, rather than keeping him DHing?
  21. If he gets too many games in OF the chances of him injuring himself increase and then he won't make 150 games again.
  22. One of those is possible and one of them virtually impossible!
