This is another hard watch. I have a worrying feeling we may have seen the only Sox run of the game! -

If we played like game 1 at home we would have still lost -

Hopefully the Sox will wake up before this series is over, the game 1 performance was like game 1 of Spring Training not the post season. Some of the at bats today were simply awful. -

With the state of our bats yesterday he will still get a loss even if he limits them to 1 run ☹️ -

If we are mentioning bad trades the Jeff Samardzija trade that gave away Semien was the one I remember! -

The analysis is looking at the players in the current squad of players, not every trade done by Hahn, every club makes bad trades but all I am saying is that in assembling this team that has made the post season back to back for the first time ever Hahn has done a good job on the free agents and trades. As for the trades being a 'net loss' that is what I meant when I said stats can be used to prove anything, as most of those trades were of MLB talent like Sale for prospects then the WAR would be a net loss initially but I am sure that even you would admit that Cease and Eloy for Quintana has been a good trade no matter what the current WAR net exchange looks like. Even the Sale trade, whilst looking one sided looking at the WAR that is because Kopech is not yet at his full potential and Moncada may yet develop the talent that is undoubtedly there even further if his bat can return to 2019 levels to go along with his improved defence. -

Really interesting that despite the grief we routinely give the front office on here (some of it deserved) that trades and free agent signings have provided us with the biggest bWAR contributions. I know stats can be used to prove many things but in my opinion Hahn can't be all that bad at his job looking at those figures. And no I am not related to him or any member of the front office ? -
TLR anticipates Keuchel pitching in relief tonight

As long as it is when the team has a big lead or is losing already by a big score. -
Being sensible and logical will get you nowhere on here! ☺️

I was counting him as replacing Rodon! ? -

At this rate the Sox will have to pitch Dallas Keuchel in the play-off rotation!? -
I totally agree, I think many people on here don't realise that a utility guy like Leury is priceless (not literally) to a team, he can play virtually anywhere on the pitch to a good enough standard, not exceptional but acceptable, and his bat is not as bad as many people seem to think, again he is not exceptional but more than acceptable. If he accepts a reasonable contract offer keep him.

I think the first 2 awful efforts were just to lull the defence into thinking he was bad, and then.... -
Gio back, Collins up, Mendick and Seby down
Chimpton replied to SouthSideGeorgia's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can't see Seby or Collins being back-up catcher for the team next season, the drop off in quality in defence and offence between Grandal and both of them is too great, and there is not much sign that either is likely to improve much. -
I know Yermin had a great month but surely you have included him in the MVP voting just for a laugh? He hasn't even been at the team for months!
-
Maybe we should just pack up and go home. I didn't realise the season was such a disaster.
-
I'm worried about more than the rotation, even if they keep it tight the lack of runs in certain recent games is also a concern. When its clicks we can beat anyone but when it doesn't even KC can shut us out.

8/28 Chicago Cubs @ Chicago White Sox 6:10 PM CDT
Chimpton replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in 2021 Season in Review
I am a bit concerned at the number of 'big innings' that are happening against us recently, yesterday against the Cubs the bats saved the games despite a big early innings but today the bats were silent. In the post season we just can't afford games to be blown out by these innings against us. Is this a genuine problem? -
Maybe you are right and Renteira or any other manager, or even Soxtalk manager would have had a similar regular season record this season but surely the make or break for the TLR hire is what happens post season, as that is what he is really here for.
-
Surely it was the relief pitcher's poor performance that lost these '10-12 games' or did TLR tell them to pitch badly? Equally how many games has TLR won through good management? Or are all the wins something any manager could have done and all the losses his fault?
