  1. If Eberflus is that bad, that miserable of a coach as the yahoo report suggests, then the guy who hired him should be canned as well. My contention is he's just another guy, not as bad as a Bevington or a Pedro, just another football guy, and good luck with the next offensive or defensive coordinator that gets hired by the woebegone Bears. Might as well hire Belichick if you want a serious program builder.
  2. Lipman's post right above yours would suggest otherwise. The coach is not the problem. You show me a good clock management coach. They don't exist. Obviously embarrassing the Bears on Turkey Day and again having a miserable record in year three arguably is a good reason to get rid of Eberflus. I'm just saying he and his staff aren't the problem. And the end of that other game was a true fluke. Again a fireable offense in year three to lose on a Hail Mary? Sure but the problems go much deeper. Not sure why my comments on this issue are deemed so sad sack and pitiful by you guys. What if these two things happened to a first-year coach? Would you want him fired too?
  3. Just based on his performance I would NEVER give this guy 20 mill a year. Never. He has much to prove.
  4. Respond to my statement that the only thing this firing does is satisfies/quiets the fans who are so mad about the end of the two games this season. One was blind luck. Yesterdays ... the analyticians who like/love draft picks should be happy we lost anyway. Bears were not gonna make the playoffs if they kicked the field goal yesterday and won in OT. Now they get a better draft pick prolly. Eberneezer is that bad a coach?? Our savior QB has a lot of work to do. He's no lock at greatness which reflects badly on the GM not coach Eberneezer. I'm not trolling. I'm just mad the Bears stink again and management thinks firing him means something positive. It means nothing.
  5. I think if they trade Crochet and to a certain extent Robert the team will win in the 40s again. Loss of Crochet will guarantee a lot more games the Sox won't be competitive in. Robert is no good but he the best of our lineup. It's hard to put together a worse everyday lineup than the Sox project to be in 2025. And the pitching staff a bunch of no names, although some of the up and comers are supposed to be good. ... Like last year, no aspect of the team, pitching, hitting or D projects to be above average.
  6. I was going to start a new topic "The Bears" but I didn't want to get buried by those on here who hate new threads. ... So here is my take. The firing of the Bears coach is ridiculous. So it makes a whole city (those who follow sports) feel better. Big deal. The Bears' problems have little to do with coaching. They have to do with talent and talent evaluation. I'm sure the no name stiffs who coach the Bears including Matt Eberflus are the same as most of the no name coaches in the league. They are OK. Let's face it. No coaches have a good command on clock management. They all choke on that part of the game. So at least judge the Bears ho-hummers on other areas that matter a bit. Clock management? Name a coach who knows what he's doing in that regard on any level. They all fail at it including Eberneezer. So the Bears continue the parade of coaches since Ditka. Big deal. There are no coaches out there who are going to cure what ails the Bears. This time maybe they should hire some young young young guy like Arizona State's coach or go the oppo way and hire some 70 year old timer like Belichick. Hiring some no name coordinator of the Lions or some team will mean NOTHING. Matt Eberflus or 5 other no names cannot cure what ails the Bears. ... But everybody feels better in starting over after yesterday's turkey day debacle. Great. Still won't win a Super Bowl. There's only one Andy Reid. Might as well try Belichick this time. But the Bears would never do that. They'd never hire somebody who actually has won before somewhere.
  7. What's with the Prep Bowl being at Fornelli Field instead of Soldier Field? It's not special when one of the two teams gets to host it. It's too hard to win a state title in Illinois so let the Public and Catholic League's best of the rest get to play in Soldier Field like before.
  8. What's most frustrating is the Sox for the first time in their history during this crash have no good players. Throughout history they've always had somebody elite. Now if 'somehow' you get an excellent one you have to trade him for 3-4 prospects. Even most years of Veeck's ownership the Sox had somebody worth paying to see. They even tried the year they had Ron Blomberg but he couldn't fill the shoes of somebody elite like Rich Zisk.
  9. Scary that we'll be on the cusp of another presidential election by the time the Sox start to sniff .500. Time flies. In my next life I'm going to pick the Yankees or Dodgers to be my team not the worst franchise in all of sports.
  10. I wouldn't mind welcoming him back considering second basemen are a dime a dozen and he was one of our top prospects. Give him his final shot with the woebegone Sox.
  11. Ugh. I never wanna hear Austin Slater's name again. He's the definition of 'just another guy' that the White Sox are so in love with giving 400 at bats.
  12. I dunno. Maybe an Indy could nab 25 wins then. I think a AA team could win 40 for sure. I hear you though.
  13. True dat. ... You can only imagine my frustration that the Royals, located in a city way smaller than Chicago, and a market way smaller than Chicago, actually try to win. They made a trade this week that they think gives them a true leadoff man (we shall see) and some other guy. They have a surplus in pitching so they dealt Singer to the Reds, who similarly appear to be trying to improve their team. Meanwhile the Sox have the nerve to apparently have nothing in mind except signing some guys with the upside of a Pham and 'maybe' dealing Crochet and Robert for guys who won't help the team for 3-4 years. Sad. ... And the Sox in a hiding in the basement way of trying to do business won't even have a Soxfest where fans can vent? Hell in theory getting fans together in one setting 2-3 days 'might' sell some season tickets. What a paper bag organization. Keep losing, White Sox.
  14. With revenue sharing the teams that are trying to win should be mad at the Sox and want them contracted. Cause the Sox's ineptness affected the race. The Sox for instance were solely responsible for the Royals being over .500 during the regular season. The Sox actually were key factors in some teams making the playoffs cause they beat up the Sox so badly. No question Chicago refused to field a big league team this season. That unit was bush league, independent league baseball.
  15. This might sound dumb but how about signing Jose Abreu and Timmy Anderson to minor league, vet minimum deals?
  16. I wish you or somebody could write an essay telling me exactly how the Sox make money. Awful TV ratings, tiny crowds, I'd assume very few jackets and hats and uniform tops sold. How in the bleep can this team make money? Does parking dollars matter that much to the bottom line? Shared TV money?
  17. Lip you are a logical historian. Why doesn't the commissioner contract the Sox? You guys say we cannot and will not even try to win with Jerry in charge. This is against everything about pro sports. You can't knowingly rip off the fans. Contract this team, Mr. Commissioner or force Jerry to sell. This is egregious.
  18. Uh oh. I'll just say no comment cause we aren't allowed to discuss politics.
  19. Then if all this is true, the league should break up the White Sox and contract them. I mean there are examples of teams that also appear to have malfeasance with absolutely no desire to win (Bulls seem to be one of them) but if it's this blatantly obvious the Sox just don't want to win, why is the franchise in existence? At least all the teams in the Sox division besides the Sox have tried a tad to win and they all face the same limitations as the Sox. Your post says there's no hope til Jerry dies basically. This should not be allowed by MLB.
  20. Thought provoking. However I dunno. The Sox may be so dumb and misguided they think No. 10 is a nice draft pick to tank for. It's outrageous what is going on in the Sox organization. Is this team really going to do nothing to improve before April 1? Insanity.
  21. Sox aren't trying to win which should be against baseball's rules. Sox should be FINED A LOT of money for disrespecting the game of baseball. The team has no plan and is not trying to win. Reinsdorf should be so ashamed but he's not. Sad.
  22. That's why 'tank' is a four-letter word.
  23. I'd settle for 7 innings. Then you cut down so much on the dull parade of relievers and pitchers re-learn how to go seven. Starters W/L would be moderately interesting again and the role of the true closer might return as well as the set up guy. ... Here's how baseball dies. The defensive shifts continue. The pitchers only go through the lineup twice which means 4 innings max followed by a zillion relievers. I still think some teams will go with "openers" in the near future and just assume every game you'll need 7-9 pitchers. Dull.
  24. So we non tendered Sheets? I'd think somebody will sign him for about 4-5 million. If I were him I'd want a one-year deal and see if a change of scenery (coaches) helps him reach his alleged potential. I'd take a flyer on him. He may or may not be done yet but considering his status as a second-round pick he may deserve one more shot with his second team. ... Not to sound like Mr. Royals but I betcha KC will be interested if they deem he has some talent. They still need some outfielders who can hit.
  25. I'll stop responding now, but I'm surprised you don't at least throw him some flowers in your posts even tho you disagree with his stance on baseball. He's Goose Gossage.
