  1. I know why u bunt but if u are playing the Sox and are the Pads why bunt? Two on none out. Eventually you'll get the winning hit.
  2. Hard to bunt against a lefty fastball when u a lefty.
  3. What good is a guy who only throws fastballs??
  4. This closer wins if he had a slider to throw in the dirt.
  5. Why all the fastballs??? Sox tie it, nice job Sosa.
  6. Trading him will hurt this team ... a lot.
  7. How could he have one homers in 44 games? He ain't lifting and pulling it right. BTW I didn't like his last at bat. He had weird body language and balance. Sox have been free game of the day a lot lately.
  8. I still would keep Crochet but he's going to bring a haul. I bet u could get two top prospects for him and two others. Or in the Sox case two top prospects and cash. I'd still keep him cause I'm against trading stars amid a tank job.
  9. I did. But back then they had reporters not afraid to ruffle feathers and I don't remember anybody suggesting anything but the Sox wanted to get rid of Ozzie. Kenny won the battle between those 2. Seemed cut and dried. Ozzie wanted more $$ and control and they chose KW. ... I will say in speaking against Ozzeroo he certainly had the biggest ego in Sox history (except for maybe George Bell and Albert Belle, mabe Chet Lemon after reading what Lip put on here) and it probably was time for him to move on to another team. Now I wanted him here but Oz's ego was too inflated at the time to probably continue on with the Sox. Finally, though, enuf time has passed, he's been good as an announcer, and it's time he returns. Arguably except for Al Lopez and Chuck Tanner the best manager in Sox history. p.s. What difference would it make if Oz waited a week and a half for the hammer to drop? He just gave the Sox a head start on finding a new skipper. I would think Ozzie is still popular with 'most' Sox fans.
  10. Kind of unfair: 1.) Say what you want, he led our team to the 2005 WS title. Ecstasy for fans. You might say the players did all the work. Fair enough but he was the manager. 2.) I fully understand the 'quitting on the team' argument so he hasn't conned me. I accept that he did that cause frankly I don't care he did that. It's not like the team was winning anything. 3.) He's very entertaining, even though unfortunately I don't get the postgame show here as Sirius cuts off after the final out. My point is he didn't con me. I know the good and bad with him. I happen to think he is a great baseball mind and I loved his era as a player and manager. Only critical of Sunday lineup b.s. in which he conceded a lot of series finales.
  11. My rebuttal: "Ozzie is an extroverted (at least with Sox media and national media, maybe not the normal person I don't know him) accomplished man who eviscerates the team because all the team has done all season is lose and make a few inconsequential to bad trades. While ignoring Jerry's role in all this is unfortunate, it is understandable as virtually all announcers (save for Hawk in his prime and Harry) would not blast the owner in such a situation. They'd ignore the topic. While I'd love for him to tear into Jerry, not many employees have the guts to bury their boss."
  12. I think you are being unfair to Ozzie. So what if he is a mouthpiece for Jerry? If he criticizes the home team once it's more than many announcers would do. It's amazing how people that hate Ozzie usually bring up his quitting on the team which is ridiculous IMO. How many games were the Sox out when he negotiated with Miami? He was gone after that season and everybody knew it. He lost the battle against Kenny. If he waits a week is he a hero right now? The guy expertly managed a postseason and led the Sox to their first WS title since forever. Geez. Somebody should do a documentary on his 'quitting' the team once and for all. This team basically quit after one month. You criticizing him for going to this even on behalf of Jerry is kind of piling on Ozzie I feel.
  13. That'd be sad if the Cubs got upset and blocked it. As long as there's Wrigley Field they are fine and close to capacity for attendance.
  14. That's exactly right. The Sox have definitely affected the race by virtue of their ineptitude. Royals are 11 over .500. They also are 12-1 versus the Sox I believe.
  15. I've been thinking about this. Jerry isn't going to get any state money for a new stadium. If they have any type of vote regarding taxpayers that will fail. Repeat: the state this time will let Jerry threaten to move. If he wants to move, fine. He'll be moving hopefully a 120 loss team so his Sox will live in infamy. This organization truly has hit rock bottom or will when loss No 120 comes. Please Jerry move to Nashville. Hopefully the commish will give the Sox an expansion franchise.
  16. That airplane information is all I need to know. A good organization would have a traveling secretary or asst. GM type call around and find out who is flying what. And a good organization would make sure the Sox travel was as good as any other team, not some old crap plane. I know the guys get paid a lot but I keep hearing how valuable the Sox franchise is. Cut corners on comfortable flights is b.s. of the highest degree. I so hope they break the modern day record for most losses, They deserve it. Cheapskates.
  17. 117 losses. Looks like 120 is possible. So what's the most losses in modern history; and in all of baseball history. This is pretty cool we haven't hit the 40 win mark yet. We need to see how many wins we all predicted. I'm pretty sure mine was low 40s maybe 30s.
  18. How dumb am I? The Royals problem I figured out after forgetting is they stopped playing the Sox. Every time they played the Sox they rolled and brought their season back on track. What about a month ago the teams were finished playing. And predictably the Royals after getting back on track vs Chicago went in the tank. Royals always stay hot maybe 5 days after mopping up the Sox then start to play/pitch lousy. Hilarious.
  19. Sox and other teams need scouts who can accurately figure out if a college kid's skills at the plate translate to hitting MLB sliders and fastballs. Or if a guy will be completely overmatched. Since the goal of all hitters seems to be HR or K, analyze whether they got the HR potential or not with the wooden bats.
  20. I'd take my chances playing with the guys they let go including many on that list. To greg, tank is a four-letter word.
  21. How do we know they'd be smart enuf to take Witt? The draft is a crapshoot. Five wins is a lot as the Cubs are finding out. The ain't gonna catch the Mets.
  22. Nicky's acquisition to go with DeJong as everyday players told Sox fans this season would be a disaster. Sox still haven't made one good move since the cursed move of letting Burger go.
  23. Shows you how the tank path to winning in almost non-existent. That list is embarrassing to the organization.
