No hyperbole: Do the Sox have the worst hitting team in Sox history? And in modern baseball history? If you do all the advanced metrics b.s. does this club come in last all-time in Sox history in runs, run differntial, total hits, total BA, etc. Total K's as well.

Why is Skip Schumacher the flavor of the week? Why's he so great? Can u imagine when he interviews with Jerry? Hopefully some of these guys tell Jerry what he doesn't want to hear. That his team is pathetic, has a mediocre at best minor league system and it's probably going to take at least five years to win. To tell him their trading pieces of Robert and Crochet will NOT bring a haul and the absence of Crochet will make the pitching staff even worse. But we have to trade him to 'try' to get 3-4 guys who are either MLB ready or close to it. Telling Jerry that Vaughn and Sheets are our best two sluggers on paper but they are not good. And that Fletcher and all those guys like Colas are not good either. And of course that Beni would not start for any other team. He also cannot hit. Jerry ... give me five years is the message a smart manager would give to JR.

Reinsdorf releases statement to say he'll speak more later
greg775 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't feel compelled to root for any other team sadly. Never got into the Royals; can't adopt the Cubs. They're not in my blood. Probably best I didn't watch any full games this year, actually not even a full inning. I can't handle the Sox hitters chasing sweepers and sliders and striking out. Maddening. And swinging at balls in dirt. Whiff. Just highlights for me on free mlb.com game summary. That's crazy I haven't watched a full inning of baseball. I always identified it as my favorite sport. Sox have changed it all. They are just too lousy to watch. I have a friend who has moved to different cities and been able to adopt the teams of his new cities. I can't do that. I used to be a Sox, Bears, Bulls Blackhawks fanatical freak. Now I still follow the Sox daily but am only a playoff fairweather Bears/Hawks/Bulls fan. Was addicted to Hawks during the dynasty and Bulls during the dynasty and Bears when they make the playoffs. -
Reinsdorf releases statement to say he'll speak more later

Jerry's statement wasn't even humble. He's been around baseball a long time. He knows that current record of the team is monumentally embarrassing. Again, if a AAA team played the Sox schedule it probably would have at least 15-20 wins, about half of what the Sox have. -
Reinsdorf releases statement to say he'll speak more later

If they didn't know then they are unbelievably dumb. I knew ... I made plans to not purchase mlb.com. It was obvious the Sox picked up bottom of the barrel guys in DeBong (who had an average year), Nicky, Maldy and had no starters besides Crochet and no relievers. Everybody knew it was one of the worst rosters in Sox history. The only way this team coulda flirted with .450 is if everybody hit amazingly well (Eloy, Vaughn, Sheets, Robert, Moncada). -
Reinsdorf releases statement to say he'll speak more later
greg775 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That was a lousy statement. As someone on here stated it comes out on a day Cleveland scores two runs twice on infield ground balls. That doesn't happen. And poor Vaughn sure looked like he mailed it in today. He's so streaky, I'm thinking if he sticks around for next season they seriously need to sit him a bit more often. I mean he goes from red hot over 4-5 games to 0-for-5 with 3 Ks. Cmon Andrew, figure it out for next season. .He's hitting in the .240s, still not a ton of power. -
Man, Vaughn had been on one of his hot streaks. Shoulda sat this one out today. 0-for-5 and defensive lousiness. Once again Sox just what the doctor ordered for Cleveland. Easy sweep. Only fair since the Royals and Twins own the Sox, too.

Reminder: I'm done with the topic. Believe what u wish.

Twenty seven complete games. Interesting I'd love to see a study on this. In depth as in, where are the complete games coming from, what pitchers? Do those pitchers have old school pitching coaches or managers? Is 100 pitches the basic norm? What were the pitch counts for the 27 complete games? Were those starters old guys or ones that simply had pitch count at about 105? It's amazing how nobody ever talks W/L record any more. That used to be THE standard for Cy Young pretty much the only standard unless a reliever had a ton of saves and was in consideration. Who's gonna win Cy this year? Probably go on total strikeouts or if anybody has piled up a lot of saves.

When this season ends the Sox won't receive one word of publicity until winter meetings, maybe not even then. Sox can't wait for this season to end so they can go do what they do in total privacy. Can you imagine anybody buying season tickets for 2025? I guess you'd have to be a rich guy with absolutely nothing to do. The Sox have changed the way that 'fans' look at baseball. There used to be some angst on a given day wondering if your fave team will win. Now ... with 33 wins we lose virtually every day so losing is no biggie anymore. In fact we get a sick pleasure in seeing the losses pile up ... 113, 114, 115 and on.
-
Kudos to his manager then for letting him finish it. Almost would never happen with modern day baseball and pitch counts. How many games this season has a starter finished let's say 8 innings? Less than five for sure.
-
Are the Cubs going to make the playoffs? I say no. Four games is a lot to make up on one team. You'd have to win at an amazing clip the final 3 weeks.
-
How many pitches did he throw? To Dylan's credit musta been 100ish cause nobody's letting pitchers go 120, 130.
-
So we are in mid September and the Sox have had no highlights this season. Isn't that amazing? None. Maybe Crochet had some sensational outing of Ks or something to maybe qualify as a highlight but night in and out all the Sox did was lose. I wonder if Reinsdorf even talks about the White Sox with friends. Should be a taboo subject.
-
Isn't that home record even worse if u go several games before the break? I wonder if Sox home record is worse in modern history and I wonder if that 1-22 is worse since the break in modern history. Their record really looks impossible to attain on paper. When u see 33 wins, 113 losses in mid September, OMG. Please tell me why there's no public reprimand from the commish. This season will never be forgotten. Unless next season is worse.

I think Kasper is really good, it's just that voice. But I've been in the car a couple times and caught some innings on Sirius and Kasper and DJ are really a delight to listen to. I could get used to the voice. But I'll say this: Kasper handles the Sox ineptness well. He tells it like it is without belaboring the Sox horribleness. DJ is wonderful. The two as a team: B-plus, only cause of Len's voice. I could go A-. TV broadcast: Stone A; new guy D. So they get a C.

Like the old days when some of you ripped me on here a lot, you win. I acknowledge I'm a huge Cub fan and an even bigger Royals fan. I have always despised the Sox and have no history with them. Peace out (my last post on the matter).
-
Yeah I like to waste 20 years of my life on a Sox message board cause I worship the Cubs. You appear to be trying to bait me into getting mad and possibly banned again. You act like I should be watching 9 innings of Sox baseball per night. Are you one of the 1 percent of Chicago natives watching games? Would a Cub fan know who Bill Nahorodny is? Or Joel Horlen? Or Cisco Carlos or Luis Alvarado? Or Alan Bannister? Or Dwyane Wise? Yeah I'm a huge Cub fan. I should play along and look up some Cub stats. What is your motivation to question greg's fandom suddenly? You are certifiably different.
-
I like the word 'dig' as a verb. As well as the participle 'digging'
-
A cynic would suggest you are going back to the sad days when you despised greg and fought me on here a lot and u could be accused of baiting me so to speak. Oddly enough the Sox had decent records those years.

I said all along I wasn't paying for mlb.com this year. My first year without it. And I made the right call. I'm pretty sure I predicted 40 wins for this team, maybe even in the 30s if we could find the thread. Why the heck may I ask you would I watch this crap at 95 bucks a year? I made the correct call. I've made no secret of the fact I only watch the free game summaries oddly enough on mlb.com. Free. They generally account for every run in the game as well as pitching performance.

Skip Schumaker — Sox 1st choice at manager
greg775 replied to WhiteSox2023's topic in Pale Hose Talk
How bout Ozzie or Joe Maddon. Both know Chicago and both have managed winners. Let's face it the manager means nothing when the team is this bad personnel wise. So give it to somebody who will gladly take the money and yet aggressive enough to ask for talent. It's not like Skip is Earl Weaver for gosh sakes. -
How was Ozzie as an analyst postgame all season? Was he ultra negative? Who were his main guys to criticize?

The Sox rolled over and stunk against KC all season, so they owe it to the Guardians to continue to stink for Cleveland this series. Sox have gotten the Royals back on track 2-3 times already this season. They should be fair to Cleveland and get swept by the Guardians too.
