It's obvious we are going to get Colon. And we are going to overpay. This is the Ritchie trade all over again, folks. get ready to lose 3 name players for one pitcher.

Sn Report: Sox Inch Closer to Colon as Market Dies
greg775 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why oh why can't we trade nobodies for somebodies like most good teams do. They want to get rid of Colon. Give them 3 minor league prospects who suck. Nobody with a name. I hope everybody boycotts the sox if the trade you suggest goes through. Asinine. -
KENNY SUCKS AND PITCHING WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!! I'll say it you are correct sir. Baseball also is close to sucking on the whole with the disparity of money out there. At least we are patently mediocre. Look at the Royals. A once proud franchise year to year is just getting worse and worse. Every year the team loses what little talent is has. It's sad when you think about it. I mean Det, and Kansas City truly suck. And Minnesota is tenuous at best. They can't afford to keep any of their great players. THough they should have enough this year to beat us again unless we put together an 85-win season somehow
-
If we overpay again it's gonna be another Ritchie trade. We'll be watching Rauch, Garland, Wright, whomever kicking ass in Montreal while Colon is average here. I want to acquire him but for nothing. Like you said, we overpay and will do so again. We'll probably give up Crede, Garland, Wright and two minor leaguers. We should give them 3 stiffs in the minors for Colon. I mean who did the Yanks give up for Weaver? If we make 2-3 more bonehead trades, we are going to be horses*** for years to come instead of mediocre.
-
Somebody that has a lot of time ought to go through all the AL outfields and list the batting averages of the three starting outfielders. Don't you think most if not all outfields have guys in the .260 to .280 range, just like Rowand? I mean if he hits .270 and drives in 75 runs, isn't that acceptable to us?
-
I like Mark B. Too bad we can't show him the love with the kind of money the Yanks would and will throw at him. He's a future Cardinal, though, like you say. Too bad but I can't blame him. How would you like to play for Reinsdork and KW?? p.s. I also agree with the poster about injuries. You'd think Mark would take a good deal now. He could wreck his arm at any time. His hatred of KW must override his fear of injury
-
The superior Clayton?? I can't believe I read that. He is where he belongs, with a horses*** team where he can bat 500 times and suck in anonymity. I don't care if Clayton hits .400 somehow. He was a stiff for us. Ditto Lofton and Alomar and Ritchie.
-
I was disappointed by Frank last year. He didn't do anything for a long time. Remember how clueless he was at the plate? It was pathetic at times as pointed out by Hawk on TV. That said, he finished nicely and alledegly is working his ass off for this season. If true, great. I'm glad we kept him. I'd rather have him have a tremendous season with us than somebody else, cause if we let him go you know we wouldn't replace him with squat since Reinsdork is so cheap.
-
Great post Cerbaho. That does indeed make sense. If Joe B is doing well and Carlos hasn't totally emerged as an All Star type player, you could be right, we trade Carlos at the time you suggest. On the other hand, Carlos still isn't going to bring much in a trade if he remains the Carlos we now know and love. A good, but not great player who can't field.
-
If scouts continue to love him, I hope we give Joe B every opportunity. Ditto Crede. We need these guys to be studs.
-
For some reason I like Lee a lot. I guess it's because his numbers are so much better than the stiffs the Sox paraded out there when I was a kid.
-
Nice post on Rowand but I cringe when I hear "best of all he's cheap." That's us stooping to the level of Reinsdork. It's his team. He could pay money if he wanted to. Instead he won't and we have a mediocre product, which I guess is better than a horses*** product like Mr. Wal-Mart puts on the field for the Royals. I do sort of like Rowand, though. His numbers won't be half bad, will they?
-
It is a disgrace we don't pound KC into the ground more. KC will be horrific next year ... again.
-
Glad D'Angelo is hitting well. We need him. I see Jose V is playing and is hitting .222 with over 100 at bats. Hope he isn't over the hill. I still like our infield of Crede, Jose V, Jimenez and Konerko. Hopefully Crede will continue on last year's success, Valentin will have a careeryear, and Jimenez will hit .300 and draw some walks. Don't you all agree our season hinges on Frank. The only way we're gonna do anything of note is if h excels, correct?
-
In my opinion, our worst enemy is Reinsdork. The second is KW. There's no way we're going to win anything meaningful this year unless Frank hits .340 with 44 home runs and returns to the Frank of old by luck.
-
Bringing back Lofton would make me puke. p.s. I sure hope Alomar doesn't play much. Alomar cannot hit the baseball. The guy will be lucky to get 20 singles next year.
-
Alomar is such a stiff. I hope Olivo does well enough he can play 130 games. Are you folks high onOlivo? Is he a star in the making? Sandy can only hit singles and is so slow. I pray he plays 20 games at most.
-
I liked the article. He's right. We are incapable of getting it right. We aren't going to win the division with our starters, folks. It's that simple. It's Mark B., then mediocrity. And it scares me to think Ritchie may be back.
-
If we make any of these trades, I'm out. Not that anybody would care, but if we make a batch of bad trades, I will get a new hobby.
-
wow, baggs and spat are back. Keep Konerko!
-
I agree with chick. I'd have hung up immediately. No way I trade Maggs for anybody. I can't believe how people sometimes take for granted the stars we've got. Trading Maggs for anybody in baseball is insane!
-
how could any team be dumb enough to sign royce?
-
I Would not deal all those guys for Vladdy. The key is to grab big salary guys off teams like the Expos for fricking prospects who suck. It happens all the time like the Royals' miserable trades for dye, damon, et. all. We always give up too much. Aren't you all sick of giving up too much in trades??

Sn Report: Lee's Future is Dim as Sox Eye Pitcher
greg775 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
i wouldn't mind dealing harris. -
Trading Crede for anybody would be asinine. Not playing guys we developed would be asinine. Keep our homegrown players for gosh sakes!
