Seven in a row and we're on the road ... hmmm. Rangers not a great team tho.

Your story was great. That reminded me of the time my grandfather fell as we were going to the car after a lightly attended night game and was bleeding and the Sox people helped us get an ambulance. That was gracious of everybody. Sox security was great. He was OK. Other memories: Being on the field on banner day between games of a doubleheader. If you had a banner you could go on the field for a parade. Fun. My friend made us a banner. Only bad part was you had to go to the left field lower concourse in the sixth or seventh inning, way too early. We were into the game. ... All the memories are from old Comiskey, quite a ballpark. Haven't been to many in GRate, but a few. Always will be fond memories of Sox park food. ... And of course the exploding scoreboard after home runs mesmerized me as a kid. Other memories. Sad the Sox are such a woebegone organization now. Really a pathetic excuse for an organization.

What is an open convention? I don't follow this close enuf. Tell me what's going on and who will win the nommy. Thanx.

Hi mitey. ... Also not getting political, here are my odds of candidate (caveat is I assume Michelle and Oprah don't want it): Kamala 1-1 (off Joe's endorsement); Newsom 3-1; Hilary 7-1; Kennedy 15-1; the field 100-1. Peace.

Three hits for the Sox ... LOL. Game took 2:05 ... LOL Royals sweep lifeless Sox. Absolutely no pride in losing season series what, 9 to 1? For all the tradeniks, at least Pham had two good games. Rumor Royals want him. He's actually hit well enuf to show he's a major leaguer and could help a contender at least as a pinch hitter or twice a week guy. Expect him to get dealt soon for cash considerations and maybe one player from A ball.

That's a great subliminal post. Fans of lousy franchises can't root for their own players very much. They root for what they can get for them in trades cause of their cheap owners.
-
What a choke by the Royals if they allow one run per game in a series and only take two of three. I think they ran their Sunday lineup today rather than getting greedy and taking all 3.
-
Their owner is kind of a doofus though IMO. I can't root for Pitt cause of the owner and his family business dealings.
-
Sox not competing very well since the All Star break. Or as the Royals announcer said, "It seems like every one of the White Sox are hitting .230." Ah gotta love the traditional stats announcers still use.
-
Exactly, ptatc! Messing with this guy's routine is a recipe for disaster for them. GMs should wait til offseason to acquire this guy. One thing the Sox appear to be doing is helping him stay healthy this season. If he cruises in with the runaway winner down the stretch then hits it hard in the postseason for LAD, good luck.
-
I truly respect your long post. That said it's ridiculous IMO. Do you know how many games the Sox have led by two runs this year? Tons! The first two innings are yawnsville, baby. I do love your post though. thanx for the post trying to educate me a bit.

Try explaining that to a fan base that wants to win now. Remember most teams are not like the White Sox in a constant state of tank/rebuild. Two innings at the beginning of the game are meaningless to contenders by the way. And you don't want to make him a reliever and possibly screw up his current routine/current arm. This is hilarious if true. Dodgers in late July worrying about next year and the year after. Only in baseball. Every move the Dodgers make should be about winning it all now. That's be insidious of them if Crochet becomes a late inning guy in the postseason. They prolly won't be able to help themselves from pitching him in late game situations in the playoffs/Series.
-
Serious question: Why would a contender want to acquire a guy who is going to be completely shut down before meaningful baseball is to be played? Seems stupid to worry about next year when this year is here for teams like the Dodgers. I'm against trading him of course but if Sox do trade him they need the Dodgers' top 3-4 prospects on their prospect list whoever they are.

It's cause the Sox always had a couple stars even in their darkest days (prior to last few years here; the previous dark days) worth paying attending to/enjoying (Melton, Pete Ward, Peters/Horlen, Walt Williams, Zisk, Fisk, Aparicio, Wood, Hoyt et. all). True the Sox have two stars in Robert and Crochet but they don't really count cause they are soon to depart.

Proud of you for doing something more productive with the kids than watching this crud. People don't believe us, but this has an effect on the future. You've got lifers like me and a few of my Chicago friends who tell me they also long ago stopped following the team (I just started not paying for mlb this season; it's my first) and you've got little kids not being subjected to all this losing. Chances are they will not be fans going forward. Add to that the ruination of baseball by analytics and things are quite depressing for some of us. Those who don't mind tanking, and those who actually enjoy tanking and the unknown prospects that will be coming aboard, however, are in nirvana.

Boy that was a pathetic outing. Had we fired Pedro at the break, maybe the Sox had a 'chance' to get fired up and win a few games for 10 days or so. Instead we get boatraced and if the Royals are smart they'll go ahead and sweep the Sox to stay in the WC race. I think we're 1-8 vs KC maybe. Not meaning to rip, but is Baldwin any good? I see he was like a 12th round pick or so which doesn't signal greatness to me. Congrats to him for getting a hit.
-
They still made almost 300 mill. The new owner will be swimming in dollar bills even tho I don't see how.
-
How in the heck did the Sox make almost 300 million last year? Where is all this TV money coming from?? All you hear about is companies struggling in this wretched economy and yet sports teams are not struggling at all cause of TV money. Where is all this money coming from for TV to make so much money? Advertisers?? I kind of find that hard to believe. Jersey sales? Concessions and parking? I guess.

Remember that's what greg has been preaching MLB commish should do. Reprimand the Sox, fine the Sox, and yes, contract the Sox. With no plans on improving for at least two more seasons, put this franchise out of its misery. Frankly it doesn't deserve to continue on (yes I realize the story is fake, but it actually shouldn't be fake; Manfred should publicly humiliate or fine the White Sox), Peace out.
-
For some reason Kyyle has gotten much friendlier in his posts the last year or so. Pretty wild the change.
-
Say what you want about greg, he is always kind in his posts and respects the views of others even if others' views innately bother him. Peace on earth good will toward all. -- As far as the thread I got no apparent problems with Sox draft albeit I have not studied it at all cept for the first pick. He seems fine.

I don't recall a time anybody embraced my posts. I tended to stand up for a group of players and of course Oz who got buried by the boards. I can't remember anybody ever saying they agreed with, or liked, any individual post of mine. I truly wish I agreed with everybody on the Sox issues and city of Chicago issues and politics stuff but unfortunately I don't and my posts generally get hammered.
-
I was responding to the poster wanting to keep our new pitcher in the minors for a long, long time. Heaven forbid he get called up early and help us win games. I'd say most of this board only cares about tanking and rebuilding and don't care how long it takes. On the contrary i want to win yesterday. I care not about prospects. Give me wins.

Kopech expected to moved by the deadline
greg775 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Trade Winds 2024
He may need to be reinvented by his new team. He needs a good pitching coach and a move back to being a starter. Change his windup, change everything, make it simple and bowl people over with the fastball. -
Makes no Senzel to sign Senzel. I mean makes no sense to sign Senzel.
