  1. That's because they are true professionals. They don't growl for gosh sakes!
  2. This is the greatest post in sports message board history. It answers the question quickly and beautifully. ... My two cents added: The fact that this indeed also reminds me of Tony the Tiger shows what an unprofessional, horrible, silly, ridiculous, all-time disgraceful call the growl is. I mean I feel for our new announcer. I wish him the best. But you cannot embarrass yourself and your franchise with a growl. The growl is a low point in Sox history: Think of the announcers: Elston, Brickhouse, Pettit, Carey, Farmer, Hawkeroo, Stoney, et. all. They would not approve IMO. Subjecting Stoney to the growl is very very sad.
  3. I thought Robert had 3 years left on his deal. Why is he not able to stay?
  4. So we fans are talking about him basically being unable to play consistently and we think GMs don't have the same concerns? Think of what you just wrote. You are pretty much conceding he'll never be healthy. If I'm a GM I pass unless I can get him for peanuts. Can you imagine we package Eloy and Robert in a "pray they can stay healthy" duo deal?
  5. This is like a bad skit. A franchise in the pathetic, cheap Central Division is expected to maybe be a contender in 6-7 years? This is almost impossible to believe. If this is true the Sox truly are the worst franchise in all of sports. Six or seven years??? How do they sell any tickets for this bumbling franchise? Can you imagine paying non Stubhub prices for a night at the ballpark to watch these clowns operate?
  6. All I can say is 'wait and see.' I would argue DeJong has no value (seriously, cmon) and Pham as much as I love him has close to no value. Again ... why would a contender want to mess with either of those guys? Fedde? Hats off to him for a fine statistical season. Let's see what he's worth. He might bring something useful.
  7. Who are they going to move? Seriously. This trade deadline should be interesting. We have Crochet who likely is on some innings maximum coming up. Good luck selling that to fans of a big money contender. I can't remember a big trade deadline trade like that where some contender is supposed to be making a trade that benefits the team next season not this one. Some teams are trying to win now, not in a perennial "wait til next year" mode ... Then there's Robert. None of us know what GMs are thinking but there are some injury red flags and frankly some production red flags. I heard on the broadcast last night he's walking more which is good. His traditional stats reek (.224, 10 HR, 19 RBI) but of course those don't matter. We'll find out what his value is as he turns 27 on Aug. 3. If he stays healthy he has five or six good seasons left which admittedly are a good number of seasons. I guess everybody is counting on getting a ton for Fedde and Kopech. Fedde has great stats; Kopech is one of the worst pitchers in baseball. Should be interesting. A 5.31 ERA doesn't excite me but again that stat doesn't matter in analytics. He throws very hard and that's that. Funny that in trading a guy our main selling point is "you can move him to starter and fix him." Also Leasure may get something but gawd knows why with his 5.22 ERA. No offense but in conclusion Fedde and Leasure IMO won't bring much; Kopech will bring very little and you tell me what we're gonna get for Robert (red flag injury) and Crochet (unavailable in postseason nicknamed "Mr. Wait Til Next Year"). Peace out. p.s. I forgot Eloy. If any team takes on this injury prone alleged slugger, wow. That's all I can say. Can you imagine trading for Eloy? A GM would have to be temporarily out of his mind to acquire one of the biggest busts of all time. Double peace out.
  8. Allegedly Leasure was pretty good and teams actually valued a trade with the Sox for him. I dunno about that now. He seems as bad as any pitcher in the league to me.
  9. Another bad loss. Another embarrassing announcer moment. He did the growl after Robert's catch in CF. Sad the Sox have a bush league announcer when I'm sure there are tons of classy able announcers doing minor league games who could come up. Poor Stoney has to be lumped in with that play by play guy. The growl is not good, Minnie loves piling up wins vs the White Sox. Helps them stay in contention every year.
  10. Too bad they can't trade Beni and let Julks play every day. In this lost season it'd be great to dump Beni on a contender with money who needs a part-time outfielder. Funny how everybody just assumes we'll have Beni til his contract runs out. Why can't Getz get a deal done to dump him? Help a little on the contract with the new team. You still come out on top in that scenario. But I guess Jerry won't allow any money to be paid to a guy not stinking it up for the Sox. Sad we can't dump Beni on somebody and play Julks or Colas.
  11. Hey Lip. Do all small market teams operate the way the Sox do? I don't pay enough attention. Do the small market teams have to get rid of all their good players trying to get 3-4 good prospects? Then when those prospects get good trade them for 3-4 more? Weird the commish allows one set of teams to operate one way and the also rans operate another way.
  12. Stoney worded that kind of weird. I love Stoney but tell us what you mean by changes. Changes in coaching staff? Changes in ownership? Changes in the players? Weird post.
  13. We may be former true blue fans but now because of reaching the final straw I want us to lose every game to embarrass Jerry more and more.
  14. How do we know which players are being developed for the Sox and how many for other teams with this weird desire to trade everybody? Would be nice to know who we are developing guys for. A lot of people want to trade Crochet and Robert. I don't think the front office is that dumb to trade two outstanding prospects.
  15. You are a great fan, Falstaff. Many Sox fans are just sick of all the losing and have either lost interest or been critical of the inept organization.
  16. Didn't somebody say the Sox had somebody in the minors who was pretty good? I'd personally hire some older baseball guy not married to metrics but has a good feel for baseball. And somebody with an edge. You know my choice is Ozzie but if we can't have him, maybe a Dusty Baker or Ned Yost. Ned might do it if we make it worth his while. Oops I forgot. Jerry won't pay up. What about Ozzie with Robin as his bench coach? Robin can keep him in line if he gets mouthy. By the way did anybody see Bill James' twitter (X) rant about advanced metrics ruining the game? And he's the one who started Sabes. By the way if the Sox aren't going to try to field a decent team, they could even sign AJP to a two year managerial deal. If the Sox won't pay a proven stud at least make it fun like Veeck did. Kessinger is younger than Biden and Trump both. A second chance for Don?? Peace out. Oz for president.
  17. I've said all along the team will be much worse in 2025 once all our pitchers are dealt. And when Robert is dealt. Getz is going to have to fill a roster again this December with clones of Lopez just to make sure we have enough MLB-ready players to field a team.
  18. This post is endorsed by the great and powerful Wizard of Oz (lover). It's endorsed by greg. I'd imagine some fans who read this post think I have an account named "striker." Nope. ... See, other people do think like greg. I endorse your post!!
  19. Me. The timing of that trade stunk and trading Burger during a season in which he led the team in HRs and was blasting them at a good rate was disappointing. He crushed that ball today. That HR was actually legendary. Against former team which walked the previous hitter off a guy that throws as hard as anybody in Sox history. Hilarious.
  20. Another excellent post. I love me some Pham but your post said it all.
  21. Amen. These players and manager should be called out on a daily basis by fans and media. It's Jerry's fault. Only he could create a team that is this bad.
  22. I disagree. I used to agree with that assertion until the Sox decided to have a roster full of unlikeable players. We have one likeable player in Crochet. Robert is not yet in the likeable category after pulling that stunt in cf the other day to go with his ultra low batting average and penchant for multi-strikeout games when he's not on.
  23. Just caught up on my box score and game wrap. Another lol moment with the Sox. Burger couldn't have hit that ball any harder. I'm actually so happy he hit that bomb off Kopech. See Jerry, I know you don't care one iota, but here's a lifelong Sox fan thrilled we lost cause Burger hit the bomb. Burger ... a fan favorite who should never have been traded. Yoan shoulda been traded not Burger to go. If somebody wanted to rip the team that acquires Kopech ... there's a pretty good highlight reel of blown saves and monster hits off him somebody could put together. Kopech is no reliever. If any team wants him as a reliever that team has rocks for brains. He needs to be reinvented as a starter ASAP. And work on ball movement on his fastball and a great secondary pitch. Still can't believe the Sox blew another lead today.
  24. That's one of the problems. We don't know their plan. They actually have a good rotation for the future in Fedde, Crochet, Thorpe and Kopech. Sign a couple real relievers and their staff next season is contention worthy. But they won't explain their strategy. Are they trading Croche, Fedde and Kopech and maybe Tharpe even? If that's the plan then 45 wins is the plan for 2025. Tell us the plan White Sox.
  25. I think some of you guys who think the Sox are gonna get a delightful haul of future stars/contributors for Crochet and Robert are gonna be disappointed. I don't think contenders are gonna 'need' to acquire either guy. It's not like we're talking Koufax and Willie Mays here. They are very good players. Let's see what Getz can get, lol.
