  1. Anyone noting Sox are getting good pitching for the most part? I still say .490 is possible the rest of the way. Get rid of Beni, play Lee every day, get our suddenly good starters to throw strikes so they can go 7 2/3 minimum and tell Kopech WE NEED YOU and maybe we got something here (til we trade everything away). Sheets and Vaughn are hitting just a bit of late.
  2. Today shoulda been the last straw. Pedro had to be fired after the baserunning gaffe to end the game. Players have to have their managers backs and the veteran mistake said: "This team blows. We all wanted to get to dinner so I made a dumb baserunning blunder. Sue me."
  3. Man even a good month is just 5-13. I thought the bats would heat up as the weather heats up. July could be a hitterish month at least for Sheets, Robert, Vaughnie and Phamster. Oh yes and Eloy and Abreu if we did the right thing and picked him up. https://fansided.com/posts/mlb-rumors-jose-abreu-white-sox-reunion
  4. Benneti took delight in that final out. Got to forgive the veteran for one mistake but it seems other teams never do stuff like that. Skipper shoulda been let go after the game. Or suspended. Sadly he doesn't have the team ready for MLB.
  5. DFA Beni and play Colas. It's that simple. I'd prefer keeping Pham.
  6. Fair enuf. However devil's advocate could say sign Abreu for old time's sake and put him at DH 4 days a week and 1B the other 2. He gets one day off. Our offense is so bad it won't matter. He can't be worse than Maldy. Release Maldy and let Lee catch every day.
  7. You can tell the weather is heating up and humidity is up. People have been pretty kind to greg for many months now. Now a few have returned to expressing ire.
  8. The Royals NEVER considered dumping Witt. He was part of a miserable team. Now they are winning. They coulda traded him and in theory got 4-5 very good prospects. They didn't. He's now raking. They are winning.
  9. Gee, sorry to consider Abreu a great player. How can anybody argue the Sox appear disinterested in keeping stars around (Robert, Crochet)?
  10. That was a fairly blah loss. Typical Sox. Just not good enough so they lose most games they play.
  11. Yeah that's the part of Sox history to me has been especially awful. Seems like we want no part of great players and if we get one or two they've got to be dealt.
  12. Thanks. Shame on St. Looie and Washington getting swept by the lowly Sox. How'd the Sox get that done? I can see Cleveland cause we're bound to sweep somebody in our lousy division. Tampa Bay is blah. Nobody cares bout the Rays.
  13. By the way, for some reason my brain is saying he will wind up in the NL. Maybe even to the Cubs or Mets. Cubs allegedly have some pitching to deal right? He's exactly what the Royals need and they have pitching to trade (but are cheap like the $ox).
  14. I like your posts but hate this particular post. We're never gonna be decent again if we trade the players that have a chance at .300, 30, 120 (when healthy).
  15. I betcha Sox talk is agreement on one thing, this. Get rid of Beni if at all possible please. Same with Maldy.
  16. The Sox seem adverse to keeping great players like the old days when we always had a star or two. Since Abreu left it's like we'll never have a stud again. Robert at least has a 10 percent chance at being one of those studs. Hopefully he won't get hurt again. Why trade him for a pair of scrapheap additions? Robert is close to being the type of player you wanna go see. Sox have none of those guys since Abreu.
  17. I'm a South sider true and true, born and raised there. That said ... isn't the South Side kind of old money? Aging population? North side is young more hip money? How does one define a South sider nowadays?
  18. Have the Sox only won one or two series all year? As I recall we won the Rays series. We may have won a series against Cleveland maybe? So is it just one series the Sox have won? Or maybe two. That has to be on track for another team record.
  19. I'd say the talent is so bad that in evaluating Pedro it's all about players. Do they think he's a total buffoon or OK. Shoulda never fired Ricky. But since he's long gone ... if the players 'respect' Pedro let's say on a 2 of 5 scale he could stay. If they think he's a 0 or 1 out of 5 get rid of him. He's been here long enuf I don't think many fans care cause they know the talent is that bad.
  20. Could this have been done more often during baseball history? Seems possible to do this a lot. Is this one of baseball's unwritten rules? Don't pull stuff like this? What about the hidden ball trick? U'd think they could do that more often. Is that against the unwritten rules? Would be interesting to know if this guy who stole home gets plunked with a pitch next time at bat.
  21. I agree with you because there are other ways to build a team than the tank thing. Look, Sox catch a break with the rotation looking mediocre of late with probably a ceiling of 6 out of 10. Allegedly we have some great pitchers in AA for next season. That would mean purchasing two good relievers with Jerry's cheap pockets. The hitting? How bout 2 good free agent bats (so that's signing 4 players for huge bucks; geez at some point Jerry has to fork over 'some' dough if he wants to own a fricking MLB team). Maybe Beni in year three as a Sox would at least learn to hit .270. Maybe Vaughn is close to being a .280 hitter with 30 HRs. I've given up on Sheets. Our catcher looks like a good one. Robert is allegedly a star despite the .180 average. I do know one thing. If there's a total firesale this season (which I'm no prima donna, it likely will happen), then the Sox will be even worse next season and again out of it after 3 weeks in April. Just my takes. As far as tonight, cmon Sox 9 Ks and one BB won't cut it. Also Crochet is outstanding but tonight they did get bat on ball a bit. I'm not a big fan of his leg kick but I do love the guy overall.
  22. Sox outlook is suddenly much sunnier than the 14 game losing streak. Is this team capable of .500 the rest of the way with the new starting staff? Bullpen still blows and bats could go either way on a given night. It's the heat of summer now however and bats will be at their highest possible level (for the roster) the rest of the steamy summer season. Sox go .490 the rest of the way?
  23. I wish I was a world class athlete or get to be one in a future life so I can drive everybody crazy by saying "no comment" about any question about politics or sexual orientation or race or homelessness or anything except my team's play. Somebody tells me to wear a T shirt supporting the opponent of my team owner ... I smile and say, 'You got the wrong person here. Not gonna do it (Dana Carvey accent).'
  24. Back in the old days Robert would be mocked for his .175 batting average. Now? He's expected to bring back a ton of talent in the trade. Not to mention he gets hurt some. Yet the Sox are gonna acquire five studs for him. Interesting.
  25. Sox win again. With just two hits. Look, I heard on the broadcast the Sox have a ton of young pitching. With Cannon, Crochet, Thorpe and some of the AA guys the Sox may have a good start toward a mediocre staff. I repeat, no need to trade everybody. Let's buy some players this offseason and go .500 and make the playoffs.
