Yeah I got in many fights on the board standing up for LaRussa.
-
JR deserves all the blame. Hahn is next in line. He concocted the "tank." The alleged difference makers acquired during the tank get hurt a lot. So he should have at the very least improved the medical/training staff if he was gonna acquire injury list wannabees.
-
Except for the DUI stuff I liked the hiring at the time. Hall of Famer comes back to the team that never should have fired him when he was a kid manager. Thought he could in Hollywood fashion lead us to glory. From what I've read he is such an unlikeable guy, combined with his breaking the law, you are right he should never have been hired.

Royals are high on Leasure allegedly and always need an outfielder. How bout Leasure and Beni for Massey and some prospect? Then DFA Lopez or ship him to a contender that needs a veteran presence once a week?
-
That doesn't make sense except for the fact JR won't pay to extend Crochet or pay Robert and his .198 BA. ... BTW what GM is gonna trade for Crochet IF his innings are to be limited the rest of the way? Contending teams are worried about NOW not trading for Crochet cause he'll be good next year. If he can't pitch much more why tease a fan base acquiring a guy who is unable to take the mound in September/October. Teams aren't going to buy into that B.S.

I'd keep him and make him a starter.

Isn't Kopech a home run machine? Great fastball no movement ... boom!

I agree. However to be fair I think the board was aghast at hiring him after the DUI in which he appeared pretty messed up on video. That was case closed for most fans. Furious that he got hired after the DUI. I think he got hired a few months after the arrest and JR acknowledged he knew about it. La Russa has a pretty big ego. I doubt he'd want all these losses to go on his all time record. Surprised Popovich is hanging on for the same reason. Loss after loss piled onto the all time record. Tony's ego wouldn't like 20-60 records.

Man I don't see why anybody would trade good players for Kopech. He's not that dandy.

Five hits? What's up with the bats during the raging hot month of June? Crochet goes 5 innings? Not sure why anyone would trade for him when he's about reached his innings limit on the season. They want him for ... next season. Oh, OK. Makes sense lol. Says a lot that the Sox best pitcher is about done for the season apparently or the reduced workload is comin.' Robert is up to .198. What a sensational talent. Peace out.

You'd have to be heartless to blast Eloy. His body just won't play sports without constant injury. Now can you be mad at the trainers and doctors? I think so unless they've told him how to prevent these things and he doesn't listen. One of the biggest busts in Chicago sports history. At least one of the saddest stories in Chicago history.

I'll never criticize a post that criticizes JR cause he is despicable in a sports owner sense. I guess my problem is it pains me to see the team trade its only MLB caliber players for some reason. The idea of Crochet, Robert, Lee, Eloy turning into Tatises with other franchises kind of pains me. Also I'm old school to think players like that can help turn a moribund team like the Sox around.

At least u are consistent. You demand new ownership before u take anything the Sox do noteworthy. JR somehow got that magical title in 2005. Otherwise he'd be known as the worst BASEBALL owner in history. He won all those titles in basketball. -

Funny you mention a funeral. To show you how crazed a Sox family I'm from in case you ever think I'm lying or trolling about my Sox fandom ... My dad died about 5 years ago in his 70s. I went back home of course and being the only remaining practicing Catholic in the family (my dad was big Catholic; a Eucharistic minister and all that) I stacked the Mass with the most touching, emotional songs and readings in our Mass repertoire cause I wanted to respect my dad that way. We still have some impactful songs and readings if you look for them. Anyhow ... I'm in my mom's living room looking through old pictures for the funeral home montage and I see a White Sox sweatshirt and pants draped on a chair. At some point after looking at that for several hours, I said to my mom, 'What is all this Sox stuff?' My mom said, "We have to take that to the funeral home. It's what your dad will wear (in casket and forevermore). I said, 'What?? He doesn't work for the White Sox!! He had a great career at the Board of Trade as a zillionaire broker and was a great dresser, proud of his suits, ties, etc. There is no way you are burying him in Sox gear!" To my mom's credit, she calmly said "You are right I don't know what I was thinking," and went to get a suit and tie out of his closet to bring to the funeral home to bury him in. I apologized for raising my voice but I said, "No way he is being buried in gear of a franchise that drove him crazy as much as gave him a bit of enjoyment. He wasn't an employee of the team or anything." Geez. Just thought I'd add that to point out my background in fandom which is intense regarding the inept Sox. -

Probably true and this is why I should just dump finally being a Sox fan. It infuriates me. There's no reason to play Beni or keep Beni. Write it off as a misplaced expense, fire whoever wanted the guy in the first place. Finally ... I think your position is nothing matters til Jerry sells the team. So go ahead and complete another tank/rebuild. My position in a nutshell is the division we are in sucks. It doesn't take much to contend. With the pitching staff looking average now (you said it's a small sample size so I do realize that) and the everyday lineup two proven solid hitters away from being average to a little below average and the bullpen 2 solid guys from being average, there is hope if you do it my way. Yes the Sox are the worst team in baseball by far but not many moves from being a .440 team and with a good manager maybe a .480 team. -
Geez Joe Joe: Fedde might bring a fair prospect; Pham and DeJong will bring nothing of future value. I wouldn't mind trading any one of those 3 but they aren't going to bring squat. You could DFA Fedde and DeJong and there's be marginal interest. So you are saying they aren't making any controversial trades: Crochet, Eloy, Robert, Vaughn, Lee. Fine by me.
