One of the worst acquisitions in modern Sox history. Can't hit.
-
Why do so many think we have a lot of tradeable players? Looking at the Sox 40 man, here are the only tradeable guys that anybody might want: Crochet - yes Sox probably will get some top prospects for him. Better pick the right ones. Kopech - Dream on for getting anybody good, but somebody would probably want him. Leasure - Yes. Somebody will want him but will we get anybody better than Leasure in return? Doubtful. That's it for pitchers. Nobody else will be desired including Fedde, Clevinger, Banks, Flexen, Brebbia, Soroka, Pastrami. Everyday players: Pham might bring a prospect or two, possibly not though. Robert: Would probably bring a haul like Crochet. Eloy - I'll say nobody wants him at this stage. DeJong - Maybe somebody will take him for some stiff Class A player but I doubt it. He's no good. Moncada - Doubt any team is dumb enough to take him but maybe get a non prospect or two for him. Nobody wants Andrew or Sheets or Beni. Nobody wants Julks or Maldy or Colas. So in conclusion: Yeah you'll get some fine prospects for Crochet and Robert and maybe Leasure. That's it though. And the loss of those two will help the Sox in their quest for 45 wins in 2025. The only plan I see in this organization is for some sick reason wanting to be out of the race by the end of April every year.

There's no reason to cheer for the Sox on a given night. I mean when your SS is DeJong and 2B is Lopez and 1B is automatic out Vaughn and catcher is the worst in all of baseball and the outfield is a bucket of spam led by .200 Beni, yes you can't cheer for this club. And maybe actively root for losses.

How much you wanna bet there were fewer than 2,000 fans there tonight. I'd bet the house there were just over 1000 fans there. Geez.

This was another really bad loss. What'd we get four hits this time? What the heck is goin on? The spark the Sox had during the 8-6 run has worn off. Looks like our lineup is totally anemic like it was pre-Pham, Ramos and Mendick. Jays are yet another team to save their season by mopping up on the Sox. Last two losses suggest the team has already thrown in the towel. Can u imagine the Sox clubhouse the last 2 seasons? Must be funeral-like in there. Absolutely no hope when the team shows up,

I see the Astros have called up Abreu. How come so many players are losing the ability to hit at age 37? It used to be guys could hit until 40 or so (Fisk and that generation).

We only hate all those things since they let Renteria go. We are not MLB worthy the last few years. The team they put together for this season was an insult to our intelligence. We all knew this was an abysmal team in January.

That game was one of the worst of the season for Chicago. Sox were never in the game against a mediocre team and it was boring according to the box score. If Nicky keeps hitting I may have to take back all my negative comments. The numbers don't lie and he's at .250 BA. Still don't like him being on the team though.
-
Woodford needs to be relieved by Bernstein ASAP. Surprised we can't seem to win home games any more. The Jays are not a good team.
-
Jake Burger is having a rotten season. Four homers. BA under .200. Tim Anderson with six RBI all season. Sox could prolly acquire both for very little in return.
-
Nrockway my only beef is I've heard him get all excited about a run scoring double or homer when the game is completely out of reach or the team is in some ridiculous losing streak. Enthusiasm is fine but when the team is this bad it's silly to celebrate wildly run scoring doubles or homers. ... Also our team has a history of non homer announcers: Harry, Piersall, Stoney, Hawk for sure. These guys were entertaining yet blasted the team for sorry play. You can't act all excited when a homer cuts the gap to 4-1 in the eighth and the team is blazing toward yet another loss.
-
The Sox have dug such a hole that the only coverage of this team should be media members who cover the team mocking the team, criticizing the team, wondering aloud day after day how it could get this bad. The Sox deserve this. There's nothing positive going on involving this team. No players except Crochet worth following really. I mean Lee is a nice surprise and Ramos but there's no reason to report as if there are any positives with the franchise. Even Crochet is gonna be shut down at some ridiculously early date. Since our people in charge are not treating this like a competitive sport, I truly wish they'd just do wacky promotions like guest announcers for games, multiple managers the rest of the season (after they fire Pedro). The Sox are not worthy of being in MLB so I just wish they'd make it a Veeck-like comedy show. Maybe even show Stooges shorts on the scoreboard during the games or fireworks after every game.
-
That is not necessarily so. Change would require a new owner and his owning the team has nothing to do with wins/losses. I enjoyed our 8-6 hot streak I must admit. It's no fun to root for a team this horrible in all facets of the game. The Sox front office should walk through the stands in the eighth inning and give the remaining fans coupons for free tickets or free parking at least. Seriously.
-
If the Sox would reduce prices a ton and/or give away free food/drink to the poor fans who attend these games, maybe then the fans wouldn't resort to chanting. That would be funny if Ozzie accepted the job only on the condition they immediately release several of these moribund hitters and pitchers.

LOL. Bassitt mows us down. Actually Sox got 10 hits today, whoopie, but only one run. Still Bassitt five innings, no runs, 7 K's. One huge LOL. Looking forward to hearing Sheets HR call on the mlb,com replay. Our announcer usually insults us by freaking out in joy despite the big picture hovering over everything. Suddenly the Sox reek at home again to go with the dismalness on the road. I truly wish baseball would contract the Sox. Mabe we could get an exhibition team or the Rays move to Chicago or something.

I love Ditka. He brought us a title. Not easy to do.

Pedro is the best ... scapegoat ever to manage an MLB team. Explanation: Sure he's horrible but in all fairness, given the same talent no manager could avoil 105 losses with this team. MAYBE an Earl Weaver or Jim Leyland could account for five more wins than Pedro will end up with in late September, but that's all. This.Team.Blows.
-
I watched the interview on yahoo. I feel sorry for Pedro now. I'm sure the guy is trying. It's just a mess from top to bottom starting with Jerry and then Getz. Pedro is third on the blame list. I know he makes top dollar but I still feel a bit sorry for him. He's trying to win MLB games with a MILB team. I mean MLB teams just don't lose 4 game series and play as badly in all phases in the game as the Sox. Poor Pedro. Maybe that should be a new T shirt design. Reads Poor Pedro on the front and his picture. On the back names of all the players and the text "Historically bad season."
-
I've heard Pedro was not considered managerial timber by the KCR's. Look they had a chance to hire him, a young loyal soldier, and didn't. Why didn't the Sox see that as a red flag? Ozzie watch. Why not? This team is a walking cache of mummies. Even those who can't forgive Ozzie for quitting should admit it'd be fun to see him kick some bleep while being entertaining after loss after loss. When I see Ozzie speak I am entertained and happy. Sports should make u happy and entertained. Hire him for four months baby.

5/26/24 Sox vs Orioles vs The Weather 1:10 pm

That's cause all areas of the team are substandard so at least one gets u every night. Tonight it's hitting. On nights we score five or more it'll either be bullpen or starting pitching. Getz built a team substandard in all areas except 'maybe' defense. Defense allegedly is OK. -

By the way Schiff should be embarrassed by his home run call on Mendick blast. He was all hyped and excited. I think he did the 'stand up' b.s. Look our fans are not dumb. Schiff just calm down when we're down 4-0 in the 8th and getting no hit. Manufactured enthusiasm, bah. Harry Caray and Piersall would be so hard on this team. -

You know, it is embarrassing to lose 4 games in a row at home especially. Amazing how nobody in the Sox organization cares. This is almost highway robbery, taking money from fans for this crap. Almost got no hit. Geez. I wish somebody would say how embarrassed they are. Even the Pham addition has now worn off. -
Who was Kessinger's primary pitching coach to run the staff. Certainly Don was too busy hitting .230 and playing defense to be concentrating on managing a pitching staff during the game.
-
Ozzie would have had a zillion funny sound bites compared to none from Pedro. Who am I kidding though. With a team this bad he'd probably say something outrageous that doesn't fly in 2024. That wouldn't be so good.

I'm just like you Mite. I never was fair weather either until they insulted me with this roster So they finally got me to give up. Consider doing what I do. Just catch the score off this site or MLB and watch the highlights on mlb.com for free under game story after the game. Check the box score after the game and u can keep up on how the guys are hitting/pitching. You really won't miss watching the live action. I don't. It really is a waste of precious time to watch these guys play baseball live.
