Sale was valuable too. That's why I like the old way of building a team. When in bad years you are at least .500. Good years to decent years you win the pathetic division.

Tauchman is one of my favorite Sox. The new lift and pull version of Beni isn't half bad.

Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS

Far south siders and southwest suburban south siders probably would NEVER EVER venture as far as Arlington Hts to watch the Sox. Would be a good time to fund another minor league team around there. Sox fans would definitely be a new demographic with most fans on the far south side passing on driving all the way out to AH. They'd still draw a ton of fans in AH with the new entertainment district and the Bears out there too. -

Oak Brook actually would be a good spot. Does that mall still exist in the day and age of declining interest in malls/shopping? Put it where Oak Brook Mall is. Boom. -

Interesting points. You know, the Sox total attendance is actually very good considering the lack of people interested in the Sox in Illinois. The Sox are drawing well for such a wretched past few seasons. As good as we are this year, 100 losses is still a possibility. That used to be unheard of, now it's like, 'Who cares? What do you expect?' In short, it is 'possible' to draw 2 mill again in the Rate if Colson and Teel et all lead the team to a resurgence in wins. Sox fans have drawn enough for me to suggest the owner will make money and draw 2 mill or more a year when we start winning again. Your second point ... I don't think Pritzger will ever support a new stadium unless he thinks it'll cost him votes and it won't. Chicago as a city is struggling (didn't I read the new mayor has single digit support? Didn't I read the military is coming soon) and frankly to me it's surprising Ishbia would want to mess with Chicago. I'll stick with my Arlington Hts prediction. Sox would be stupid to not explore every aspect of joining forces with the Bears in AH. -

Agree with you and some other posters who posted the same. Let's face it, 35th and Shields is a location nobody except die hard old time Sox fans can rave about. My guess is rthe new owners would love the 78 location the most. If they sit down and think about their future, however in terms of making $$, there's only one choice: work something out with the Bears regarding Arlington Heights. Make it a huge sports district with bars, concert halls, a place for DePaul basketball, a place for Chicago Sky basketball. Just go crazy out there. ... A rich guy like Ishbia is NOT gonna accept 35th and Shields, the old neighborhood with the narrow old streets and old way of life. Seriously even though it makes the most sense in terms of government assistance, 35th and Shields has no chance to be home of the Sox. Bridgeport may be nice but forgetaboutit. Remember u heard it here first. a.) Sox will locate to Arlington Heights out of nowhere. b.) 78 could definitely win out. c.) Soldier Field area. d.) 35th and Shields. e.) Revamp Midway Airport and put a stadium there. -

Ugh. I wouldn't go to a Cub game if u gave me free tickets and food and parking. Been there, done that as a kid. ... The alarming thing is how the Sox lost fans like me with their lousiness since winning it all in 05. I mean greg is/was a diehard! I talked about them like I post about Brother Rice now. Passion. I still can't name our pitching staff; I do know the everyday players for the most part tho. -
I have nothing against the Bears' coach. He has a good resume. However ... the Bears have had so many head coaches and basically all fail. I guess the parade of coaches will continue. If this guy has a bad opening year and reluctantly gets a second year, if we stink next year, bye bye coach Ben Johnson.

Fair question. I just think most cities wind up having the citizens pay for most of it. Although KC Royals right now may have to move to Kansas for their new stadium cause Missouri citizens don't wanna pay. If Missouri voters remain steadfast the Royals will be lost to the Kansas side. -

Agreed. As long as Pritzger is around (he's totally against helping pay for it) your comment makes GREAT sense. It's not like 35th and Shields and Bridgeport are going anywhere. -

No offense, but in this day and age would anybody care if the Sox moved out of state? We already have the Cub and the Sox because of Jerry and all this losing generally regarded as inconsequential IMO. The state is NOT gonna give Sox owners any money for a new stadium. We know that. So that means the Sox either shut up and stay at 35th and Shields or the new owners move or build their own stadia at the 78. ... I'm thinking most people in Chicago think of Jerry as a businessman making money off the people of Chicago, not trying in the least to entertain or win. Good riddance most will say or Bye Bye if they are kinder than that. -
K, thanks for the answer.

Are we allowed to discuss the Charlie Kirk death on here? I'll leave it at that while adding "Rest in peace."

Glad your son likes BR. I truly enjoyed it there except for the fact it was all boys. Back in the day the brothers (there were brothers then) had leeway to slap you as well. I have a good story about cross country on here if anybody wants to hear it, what happened at the Catholic League CC meet and a meet at Loyola to me. Humorous yet sorta sad (to me). Anyhow, if we can stay healthy this team is so good. Not so sure I like coach having a practice after pounding Rita, but he knows his team better than me. Hopefully he did a lot of congratulating of the kids cause after a win you should be able to celebrrate it 24 hours. Peace out. Any inside scoop on our QB? Is he special and can he stay healthy? -

Man. We blew out St. Rita tonight on the road after smoking Marist on the road and winning the opener against Valpo. Folks, we got a team this year. If Rice can stay healthy, this is different. This Rice team is special. St. Larry (Laurence) and Rice appear to be the best teams on the South side. Whether we can beat Loyola or MC is anybody's guess but we are GOOD. -
All the Sox do is win. I think it's obvious the team will contend next season as .500 is good enough to contend in our division. Our manager must be good to get this much out of our no-name pitching staff. The hitting has been remarkable the second half. Sox must have a good hitting coach, too. How many were really in the park today, 1,000 even? They called it 11,000.

I just read on WGN website the Bears have chosen Arlington Heights. Smart move. Everything about the decision is correct IMO. In the article it said 50 percent of Bears ticket holders live within 25 miles of Arlington Hts.

Tauchman has had a pretty good year. I'd keep him. Sox need to spend some money on efficient pitchers. The offense looks OK to good if Monte is healthy and Robert keeps improving.

Rice does a nice job of hiring good football and bball coaches. This football coach must do a good job of recruiting. I saw he had a comment on how the game meant alot "especially for the kids from the neighborhood." Hilarious how Catholic League schools recruit. I'd love to see where Loyola and MC are getting all their kids from, same with BR, Rita and Marist. I was pleasantly surprised at BR. They looked so much better than Marist on this night. Good luck to your son. Looks like both lines are good. -

There should be another name for us besides 'haters.' We deserve to have great anger toward the Sox for what they've put on the field for many years. We ain't haters; we are raters. And we rated the team F for a long time. -

How bout those White Sox?? The offense is resembling '77, baby. Run after run against the AL Central. We need those new owners to take over now, buy some talent to go with Colson the Magnificent and win some pennants. Go Sox! Go Bro Rice! -

Wow. BR clobbers Marist at Marist, 35-0. I watched much of it with just the video no sound. Damn it looks like we have a team this year. Rice looked more like Mt. Carmel or Loyola in scoring at will and stuffing Marist. Maybe Marist is gonna have a down year or we're that good. Some kid on Rice got hurt. I hope it's not your son as it was a lineman. Do u know who got hurt? Dan O'Brien didn't mention who it was but the game was delayed quite a while then he limped off with ostensibly a knee. I know we have a big kid who is an Illini signee. Rice rules. 2-0. It's been a while since Rice even beat Marist much less pounded 'em. QB looks good. -

Seriously ... Montgomery is off to the best start in modern Sox history ... NO HYPERBOLE. Are u freaking kidding me? Did anybody see this coming? This guy is beyond words. Only a total Scrooge would disagree with greg on this one. My gosh. The Sox finally got a draft pick right. It will be criminal so to speak to not build a team around HIM this offseason. Any more losing b.s. is TIME WASTED. Colson can play the game of baseball, folks. You name a better start in Sox modern history. -
Say what you want: The Sox are rising.
