Nightengale: Gio won't be on 2024 White Sox
The Kids Can Play replied to Lip Man 1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You telling the majority of us in this forum that we feel Rick Hahn is the worst GM in baseball is just hyperball, when in reality, it's you being the classic contrarian trying to convince us that Hahn isn't the worst GM in baseball. Interesting how you list Hahn's three good trades and failed to list his bad trades: 1. SS Fernando Tatis Jr. and RHP Erik Johnson for RHP James Shields 2. 2B Nick Madrigal and RHP Codi Heuer for RHP Craig Kimbrel 3, 3B Todd Frazier, RHP David Robertson and RHP Tommy Kahnle for OF Blake Rutherford, OF Tito Polo, RHP Tyler Clippard and LHP Ian Clarkin 4. OF Melky Cabrera for RHP A.J. Puckett and LHP Andre Davis 5. RHP Addison Reed for 3B Matt Davidson 6. LHP Konnor Pilkington for 2B Cesar Hernandez You also are missing the other major factors in why we know Rick Hahn is the worst GM in baseball: 1. Counting 2023, 8 of his 11 years as the GM his teams have been under 500. 2. Overall W-L record as GM is 712-840 .458 2. Two playoff appearances with zero playoff wins in 11 seasons as GM. 3. The now infamous 2016 rebuild debacle. - There is no debate here, as its been a complete disaster. Now we are looking at a potential second rebuild 2.0. 4. The 26th ranked farm system - A GM is also responsible for scouting, drafting and developing prospects to bring up someday to the major league level and be productive for the Sox. The Farm System is actually a bigger failure than the trades of Hahn. 5. A long history of bad free agent signings. - Hahn might have signed a couple of good ones like Jose Abreu, but the majority of his free agent signings were bad. 6. Excessive injured players during the season. - One the leading teams to put players on the IL. Yes the GM is responsible for hiring the right trainers and strength/conditioning coaches to help the players not pull so many hamstrings and other muscles. 7. Bad manager hire of Pedro Grifol - Hahn gets a pass for Tony LaRussa. Yet the hiring of Pedro and his loser coaches is bad. Overall when you look at the total job description of a GM, you're damn right Rick Hahn is the worst GM in baseball. There have been many bad GM's in baseball, however the point here is...they don't keep their employment for this many years with horrible results like Hahn has. -
And That's a White Sox 17-4 Winner !
The Kids Can Play replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Awesome win! However we need to keep these occasional offensive outbursts in perspective, since this team has been losing more than winning. Be carful with these teaser games that maybe are nothing more than the occasional fluke game, to keep us fans reeled in. There are still many major flaws on this team. We did play a under 500 bad team. I hope I'm wrong and these guys decided they are sick of embarrassing themselves and are now going to start playing like major league pros that are paid millions of dollars. -
Nightengale: Gio won't be on 2024 White Sox
The Kids Can Play replied to Lip Man 1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wish Nightengale could have asked him to discuss his feelings on the results of Sox 2016 rebuild thus far. I would love to see those comments from JR. Typical POS Reinsdorf as he always does...blame Gio and the other Sox players for this downfall. Where is the accountability of Kenny and Hahn and all the threats on their jobs from this demented owner? -
Nothing wrong with cheering for a class organization like the Rays as a back-up to the Sox...since you live there. My brother moved there about 15 years ago and he plans eventually retiring there. Of course he will always be a #1 die-hard disgruntled Sox fan, but he has cheered on the Rays for many years now. At least you can watch a fun and successfully run team year in and year out...something you probably might not see from the tragic demise of the Sox. Hopefully some day when JR passes away and sells the team, we can get an owner to try and build us a team like the Rays, Dodgers, or Braves, etc.
-
Wow, that is a very powerful statement! Nothing is better than the harsh comments from an ex player! Thank you Brian for telling everyone what Sox fans already knew, but hey...it's always great when you hear from a ex-player. I hope more and more people blast this nightmare of a trainwreck team. Of course they cant just blast the players. They need to loudly criticize the owner, FO and manager/coaching staff that are all worthless as well.

I would love Mark Cuban to be our next owner! Cuban got fucked when was the highest bidder for the Cubs. However back in 2007, he was a brash and outspoken owner drawing record amount of fines and just being "off the wall" controversial. The MLB owners were too intimated by Cuban. Who knows if he even wants to own a baseball tam anymore. The fact is that was 16 years ago. Cuban today has mellowed out and you never see him getting fines or making ridiculous outspoken comments to the media. He is a seriously wealthy billionaire that would be buying the Sox for all the right reasons. Like most smart seriously wealthy billionaires that buy a team today...they buy it because they want to win, have fun and will spend the money to build a winner.

How do you think Steinbrenner and Al Davis would like the quote of JR, "Sometimes I sit in ownership meetings and I think, how could these guys have made money to buy a team."

5/6 Sox @ Reds 5:40PM CT - NBCSCH
The Kids Can Play replied to DoUEvenShift's topic in 2023 Season in Review
Besides all the other disappointing and underachieving players on this team, probably the worst drop off on this team is Tim Anderson. He doesn't seem to be motivated and he surely isn't playing with any passion, as the so called "Face of the Franchise!" He isn't hitting, getting on base and definitely is playing dumb baseball. What happened to that guy who could spray singles and doubles to all fields, as well have some power for home runs? The last three games: 1-12 - one single, 5 K's, 5 Groundouts (one DP), one flyout. Look at the drop-off since his breakout year in 2019 when he won the AL batting title. Season GP HR BA OBP SLG OPS WAR 2019 123 18 .335 .357 .508 .865 4.0 2020 49 10 .322 .357 .529 .886 2.2 (60 game season) 2021 123 17 .309 .338 .469 .806 4.6 2022 79 6 .301 .339 .395 .734 1.3 2023 16 0 .269 .310 .343 .653 0.0 There are many reasons we can debate why he is declining, but the bottom line is, he is 29 years old and turning 30 in June. It's time to move on and hope we can get some decent value for him. There should be some team that will value TA. It will be one of those successful organizations we always talk about, that are fully confident they have the proven coaching, leadership and quality baseball processes, to change his attitude and correct whatever mental and physical hitting flaws he has developed. Obviously we don't have that coaching or leadership to change him, so let someone else try. -
- It is sad there is not a video of that historic home run hit by Dave Nicholson.

And That's a White Sox 4 out of 5 Winner !
The Kids Can Play replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nice win! Not good that #1, #2, #3 and #5 in lineup went 0-16: Tim Anderson - 0-4 Andrew Benintendi - 0-4 Andrew Vaughn - 0-4 Gavin Sheets - 0-4 -
DVS: Liam Hendriks to begin rehab stint shortly

If he does and Hahn makes that trade, I'm quite sure the Sox will get fleeced again by the Cubs. -
5/5 Sox @ Reds 5:40PM CT - Apple TV+
The Kids Can Play replied to DoUEvenShift's topic in 2023 Season in Review
I don't think that will happen, but it could. However if this team actually finished 54-108, then KW and RH better once and for all better be fired. If they aren't and you think this organization can't get any worse, then brace yourself for further embarrassment and frustration, because this club will sink further into dysfunctional destruction. -

The Kids Can Play replied to DoUEvenShift's topic in 2023 Season in Review
I'm not so sure the Sox are any better. Although the Reds are under 500 at 13-18, its a better record than the Sox. The Reds arguably have played as tough of a schedule as the Sox. Every team the Reds played other than OAK and PHI are all over 500: Realistically they are both bad teams. TB 26-6 ATL 22-12 PIT 20-12 TEX 18-12 TOR 18-14 SD 17-15 PHI 15-17 OAK 6-26 -
https://boardroom.tv/yankees-dodgers-lids-mlb-sales/ I saw recent list for total merchandise and gear sales in MLB for the 2022 season and the Sox were third of all teams. I get the Sox branding with hip hop, celebrity attraction, and fans for the huge sales. However they are not getting anymore money from me. By now I would have taken my family to at least one home game and gone to another one or two games with my other Sox buddies. We would have bought a ton of merchandise, because I'm a sucker for that. That free ride for the Sox is now over. No more spending on the Sox! I already own too many caps, shirts, jerseys, sweatshirts, jackets etc. LOL! I am done spending a small fortune at the games on tickets, parking, gear, food and beer...until the two clowns Kenny and Hahn are gone. I just wish more Sox fans would send this same message to this trainwreck baseball organization. I know I'm just one fan and the lost of my money won't hurt them one bit. However at least I will feel good with my principles that I will not financially support mediocrity....when the Sox organization does nothing to improve and get better.

DVS: Liam Hendriks to begin rehab stint shortly
The Kids Can Play replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You might be right. I guess we're all wishing for that great feel-good story. However if Liam actually does have success, then all the losers in the Sox bullpen will have to realize one big thing; their fellow teammate just sat in a hospital for several months getting chemo and beating cancer...then was able to come back with little time to prepare....and embarrass the pathetic relievers that they are. -
Really depressing and aggravating to go down memory lane and see how many losers we actually had. Then again, look at are overall record since 2006 where we are significantly under 500 with only three playoff appearances and zero playoff wins in those 17 years. Show me another FO combo in any sport, that was able to have this total dysfunction and number of losing seasons with no playoff wins...along with a complete botchery of draft picks, developing players, free agents signings and trades....and that combo FO over a 17 year period, was allowed to keep their job by the owner.

?? THE ELVIS ANDRUS THREAD OF OPS INFAMY ??
The Kids Can Play replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
-
You're right and it's because the FO put together a pathetic roster of inadequate players that are weak fundamentally in smart situational baseball. We also have a manager and coaching staff that are obviously negligent because they probably didn't spend much time working on 101 fundamental situational baseball...and demanding it be perfected.

?? THE ELVIS ANDRUS THREAD OF OPS INFAMY ??
The Kids Can Play replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You're 100 percent correct because it all stems from the following flaws: 1. Sox players are not only extremely impatient and stupid with plate discipline and strategic situational baseball, they are also blatantly selfish and unwilling to attempt the right batting approach at that moment to help the team win. 2. This poor clutch hitting is also magnified when you have a manager and coaching staff that are completely inadequate in their leadership and teaching skills, to get players to "buy in" to the correct AB approach. 3. Furthermore this poor situational hitting is a direct result from our dysfunctional FO that are clearly horrible at scouting, evaluating and selecting the right players for their organization...that will in return, play smart team baseball because they are willing to utilize their smart baseball IQ in order to help the team win. 4. The worst crime which explains #3 above...This FO doesn't have a solid and winning organizational blueprint in how to build a consistent winning team! The Dodgers, Braves, Yankees and Rays just to name a few, absolutely have this detailed outline of a what a winning formula and blueprint looks like. These clubs not only have it in place...but they actually implement and enforce it. -
You're absolutely right it has. As it's been said in this forum many times...this is a dumb baseball team with a low baseball IQ. Many of them are mentally weak and play scared like "Deer Caught in Headlights!"

Sox Hitting - LOB - 14 - RISP - 1-16 - (Jiménez 1-2, Hamilton 0-2, Alberto 0-3, Andrus 0-3, Anderson 0-2, Sosa 0-2, Grandal 0-2) Sox Pitching - 8 Walks Sox Fielding - 2 Errors I guess that 3 game win streak was just a big tease. Back to bad baseball and wait for the dumpster sale at trade deadline!
-
I wish Hahn was fucked and in trouble of losing his job! Sadly Jerry has his back at all cost!
-
Oh he definitely has a model...its unfortunately from the KC Royals organizational model!
-
Why would he? He got his coaching from the KC losing Royals. If he was so good, the KC GM would have hired him instead of hiring the TB Rays bench coach for their next manager. Good thing we have the genius Rick Hahn leading this organization...as he knows how to really pick em!
