That was a great comeback and great clutch hitting at the end, especially from Vaughn. I'm happy they could feel a comeback and actually celebrate a win. However before everyone goes crazy about Haseley as I've read with several comments. Some of you seem to forget that Adam Haseley was up last year and he was bad. He had 5 hits in 21 AB's in 14 games in 2022. Don't forget also, he was the player who collided with Danny Mendick because of his stupidity of not calling for correctly or loud enough the flyball that cost Mendick a season ending torn ACL. One game doesn't change anything. Are we always going to score like this going forward? If this is that miraculous turn around then great. I need to see it consistently first. This bullpen still sucks and the worst in baseball and they are never going to score enough to make up for it. This is baseball and every bad team now and then can win a game and beat a better team. Let's pump the brakes for a moment, before we plan the parade with Rick Hahn.

You're absolutely right the Rays would make Robert or some others on this Sox team more productive. I have a story to share that will prove this. I was driving yesterday afternoon listening to ESPN radio and they had Jeff Passan on. I will paraphrase the interview. Jeff Passan was asked, why does he feel the Rays are always so good with such a small payroll. Passan stated an interesting fact about this years' Rays team you might find surprising, because for sure Jeff did. Of the 26 man roster for the Rays currently, it consists of seven home grown players through the Rays farm system, two free agents and the remaining 17 players via trades. Of course since the Rays have such a strong farm system yearly, they can afford to give up some of their prospects, or current players the Rays feel they have gotten the max out of and time to move on from. The Rays philosophy for many years has been to strategically evaluate players on all ML teams. The Rays look for specific players on reasonable contacts and that are underachieving, but in their mind have huge upside potential. The Rays have a proven track record of tweaking and developing these players off trades and making these players more productive with better results. This is a part of the Rays successful approach to player development, being forced to operate with one of the lowest payrolls each year.

You might be right and not much longer up here, but once again, another example of the Sox screwing up another promising prospect.
-
#1 - Moncada and Kopech for the simple reason we gave up arguably one of the top premier pitchers at the time in Sale. Moncada was the # prospect in MLB and suppose to be our future all-star second baseman. Kopech and we know the disappointment there. #2 - Eloy, as someone said, he tore up the minors and had a huge rookie year. $3 - Robert - Again same as Eloy. He tore up the minors and he was going to be the next five-tool superstar.

You know the most disgusting and pathetic part of what you mentioned is this comment which is not a fault of yours but the sad reality of it: JR has told his family he does not want any of his sons owning the team when he is gone. The Bulls are fine he said because they make Michael (Reinsdorf) money but baseball just doesn’t allow you to do that. (no salary cap)” Here is why that comment from Jerry is warped thinking: 1. The Sox make money. who is he shitting? Even if it doesn't make as much money as the Bulls, it makes money. The fact is with the right owner instead of clueless Jerry running the Sox, it could make significantly more money and probably win way more games. 2. Just because Jerry hasn't been successful as an owner, as far as putting out a yearly playoff winning team, doesn't mean one his sons would screw it up like he has. Hell, maybe Jonathon for example, who seems like an extremely smart man, could actually take the Sox team and make it way more successful in making money, bringing in larger attendance and being a consistent playoff team. How dare him as a father to deny his sons the opportunity to make the Sox more successful. I get in life where some rich fathers might not want to turn over their team or company to a son that has been a slug or shown no adult responsibility and done something positive with their life. However this is clearly not the case with Michael and Jonathon. Again just the sick illogical arrogance of Jerry is disgusting 3. It's ok to let one son run the Bulls, but not offer the other son the chance to own the other family team. That's really brutal. Until someone shows me where Jonathon said no f'ing way I want own the Sox, or show me a statement from his other son Michael, that he doesn't want a second team to run, I will always adamantly believe Jerry's logic is seriously flawed. 4. Ok finally, so we know JR doesn't want the Sox sold until he dies. Who the hell knows how many more years that will be. Let's say hypothetically it's another 7-8 years. God f'ing help us if that is the case! Yet for purposes of my argument, since Jerry evidently is never going to make any FO changes, the White Sox could realistically lose massive team value as this team continues to be destroyed by Jerry's incompetence. How f'ing fair is that to his sons and family, when they go to the sell the team after he passes away and they get substantially less money, than it could have gotten with better leadership and executive skills from Jonathon or Michael over the next 7-8 years. I personally believe they could make this team more successful. The worst case is they won't do any worse than Jerry! The benefit now being in the case the family still needs to sell the team per the Will, it could be sold for a higher value. 5. The fact is sane and smart billionaires usually don't throw money away or have a cavalier attitude like, "oh it's just money, I'm already rich., who cares if it sells for less." Most successful self-made billionaires got to that point because they did care about making more money and never wasting it away. The more you analyze Jerry, the more you realize...this really is one of the worst owners ever! Thank f'ing god all us loyal die-hard Chicago Sox and Bulls fans got to have this POS loser for our owner.

Probably so. Which is why he should have one of his sons either run it or help him and quit with his nonsense stubbornness.

Updated: Losing Streak Watch - Historical
The Kids Can Play replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I hope Jay Cuda tweets an updated chart when it hits 10 tonight. -
That is an excellent point! Whether it was Kenny, Hahn, Grifol, or the players saying they hate this losing and they are all doing their best...not one time has any of them said to the fans: "The worst thing about this horrible losing stretch, is the fact we are letting our loyal die-hard Sox fans down who support us so passionately. We understand and feel bad how they must feel watching this painful losing streak."

I think you're right he does live in Arizona full time. What we don't know though is his mental state. I am assuming his cognitive skills are eroding and the senility is making him even more detached and uncaring about his team. Rumors always say Jerry is in good physical and mental health. However that probably is just BS to protect him. Has even seen him talk to media, fans or his team lately? I would love to see him talk live to the media and fans and explain this horrible start and what plans he has to change it, as is his responsibility being the ultimate leader at the top. Then we would know how sharp he really is. Oh but of course not, as it will be a freezing day in hell for that to ever happen. The fact is, this stubborn and egotistical POS owner doesn't give a s%*# and is afraid of the media and fans. He knows he would have to admit blame and let his poor fragile ego be criticized heavily.

First of all, this team is not good enough to go 74-61 to finish 81-81. Even if they did, they wouldn't make the playoffs. Assuming this team is not making the playoffs, then the best thing is to trade off a lot of the players that are failing us and will never help us be winners at the deadline. We need to get prospects for them to somehow strengthen our bottom end farm system. There are probably 6-7 players on this roster worth keeping, along with Montgomery and Schultz in the minors. I would gut this team and bring up rookies, whether they are ready or not...which of course they are not. If they lose well over a 100 games, then good. Maybe that would be enough embarrassment to get Jerry to fire Kenny and Hahn. However if that wouldn't get those two losers fired, then we are all seriously fucked and this team will be a disaster for many more years until Jerry Reinsdorf finally passes away and the team is sold. I am for whatever final season trainwreck disaster needs to take place, in order to hopefully get change in the FO and manager/coaching staff.
-
No and I didn't say that. I said keep the FO losers and coaching staff and let them all ruin this team this team all the way until the end. I said nothing about keeping the players and not trading them at the deadline to get prospects. That would be insane. If you check several other of my posts, I have always been adamant that I would be trading away all the loser players at the trade deadline. I would never allow free agents to leave untraded with compensation back. You assumed and read into that from my post. You can go to the post, "What five players would you keep to build around." I actually listed 8 players of which two were in the minors. I said other than the 8 players I mentioned, I would trade away the rest of the losers at deadline and DFA the DFA the others and then bring up rookies to finish the season.

The problem here is loser Hahn just said publicly that he will take the blame for this horrible team and start. He was quite adamant that it was absolutely not the fault of Pedro and his coaching staff. He furthered explained that Pedro and the coaches are doing everything possible to turn this season around. Don't get me wrong, I agree a huge amount of blame goes on Grifol, Katz and the worthless hitting coach, besides the two clowns Kenny and Rick. However all that means if Hahn fired Grifol and his staff, is then Hahn would have to hire a new manager and coaching staff, which we know he sucks at already. Just leave these loser FO and coaches all there to further implode so this season becomes a monumental trainwreck. Then maybe the senile stubborn owner will hopefully be embarrassed enough and have to make a major FO change after the season.

Absolutely correct the degrees have nothing to do with it. Hahn has a Bachelor degree form Michigan, a law degree from Harvard and an MBA from Northwestern. All three are top elite colleges. Case in point to your Dodgers and Rays example. Andrew Friedman who was the GM who built the Tampa Bay team and made them one of the best teams, with usually the smallest payroll, is now the President of the Dodgers. The fact is, he only has a BA from Tulane Univ and his MBA from Tulane. I'm sure Tulane is a great college, but it isn't anywhere close academically to the rankings of Hahn's three schools. The key here is just because Hahn went to these elite schools, doesn't mean he gained any knowledge in common sense, proper baseball research, analytics, ability to apply accountability principles in the organization and follow up on that accountability he delegated. Most importantly, the ability to hire the right FO people underneath him which Hahn failed at, is obviously where Andrew Friedman has superior skills over Hahn. The fact is, Hahn is a victim of the Peter Principle, which is just because he was a good asst. GM, doesn't mean he was capable of handling the extra responsibilities of the higher level of the GM or his present title of Senior VP and GM.

That is the conclusion I am coming to!

Ticket rep attacks fan for not renewing
The Kids Can Play replied to Green Line's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Of course! Imagine how mad the A's fans' are knowing their team is leaving Oakland to go to Las Vegas. I guess they are becoming used to it, as the A's will be their 3rd pro team leaving Oakland, if you count the basketball team going from the Oracle Arena in Oakland to the Chase Arena in San Francisco. -
Wow, from what I've read, this pitching machine is exactly what every Sox batter should be using. Talk about a lack of leadership and accountability! Why isn't Grifol and the hitting coach making it mandatory that all the hitters on this team that are clueless on reading pitches and real good at striking out by swinging at pitches a few feet off the plate...using this machine daily? It's becoming more comical daily how dysfunctional this organization is from top to bottom, as we keep finding out more tidbits like this. Are you f'ing kidding me? Jake Burger is on board using it to get better and Eloy and Robert are like, Nah, I don't need that. I'm good with the regular old fashion pitching machine or the coaches pitching to me.
