It would make sense. What I recall is that about that time back then, Rick Hahn's stock was rising. I remember some article, which I can't find now, that wrote about the new up and coming Asst. GM's and Hahn was considered one of the top young Asst. GM's for the future. I recall rumors floating around that several clubs were contacting Jerry to be able to get permission to interview Hahn. The rumor was Jerry then realized that he might be losing Hahn decided to keep Hahn and make him the GM to replace Kenny. This of course meant doing the typical Jerry thing and move Kenny up to a higher position, but letting Kenny know it's really Rick's gig going forward. Hence why Kenny wouldn't be happy at all! Whether that is a fact, I don't know, but it would make sense. Further to your point that Kenny and Rick weren't on the same page. Right before the official announcement in 2016 for the total rebuild, it was rumored that Kenny was not in favor of the rebuild. It was Rick's idea and eventually Jerry agreed and went with Rick over Kenny. It was Kenny's plan to do his typical method of tweaking and making bad trades and give up great future prospects to rebuild the roster. Regardless of whatever happened behind closed doors, this we do know for an absolute fact; these three clowns are POS executives that are destroying the White Sox organization!

I'm glad he is getting ripped which he so richly deserves! I hope these type of articles multiply at an insane rate to the rest of baseball America.

Hell no! They are destined to lose over 90 games and maybe even more! Don't forget, if this team is the 3rd worst record near trade deadline as they are now, then the FO dumb-shits will be sellers and get rid of many players. Thus they would need to bring up "not ready" players from the 27th ranked farm system and then for sure they would finish with over a 100 losses. Frankly I want to see that happen. I want only the worse results to happen to the POS JR and his loser knucklehead FO. As they make their millions at least they can be embarrassed along the way.

I hope all this negative crap gets out to the rest of country and baseball America to see why this organization is the worst in sports. You just can't make this stuff up!

I get where the Sox make their money. My point is not about the money...it's about the fandom and support of fans. If ideally the fans don't show up and every night possibly the team plays in front of a very empty stadium, then that is an embarrassing look. Whether they still make money is irrelevant. They can make all the millions they want. What is important is the fact it's a huge embarrassment that his your fans don't have any interest in going to the games. You cannot tell me that in some form that wouldn't be embarrassing to Jerry. Jerry and the FO need to be as brutally embarrassed as possible to the rest of baseball America while they make their millions. The fact is Jerry has always been arrogant and has a massive ego. If an empty stadium wouldn't bother or embarrass him, then he really is suffering from senility and serious cognitive brain loss.

He sounds like a really sharp dude who would think modern day baseball and be more creative and be someone who could finally bring modern day baseball concepts to the White Sox. It's just sad and pathetic that his father is a clueless, arrogant and senile stubborn old man that doesn't even see the benefit of his son running the Sox like he did in seeing his other son run the Bulls.

It's horrible and it's been horrible for years. The first time the Rays were in the World Series in 2008 when Joe Madden was the manager, the team not only had the lowest payroll that year, but they were 26th in attendance.

I've been there! It's a horrible location being St Petersburg as opposed to being on the Tampa side where the Bucs (NFL) and Lighting (NHL) play and play to fully packed stadiums. Tropicana is also a horrible stadium to watch baseball and probably the worst actually in baseball. It's really tragic that the fans in Tampa are so blessed yearly with a super fun and competitive team and don't go show their support or appreciate how good they have it. There isn't a single Sox fan right now that wouldn't give anything to have the Rays be our team and play at GR field. I couldn't agree more with you. This season has to be beyond embarrassing to wake up Jerry up and do something. It has to be a non-stop daily trashing from national media besides local. You're right, there is nothing to gain for this team winning occasionally or coming close to 500. It has to be an total disaster, which it's on track for.

That's a great question. I read his bio and he seems like a really sharp guy and as you said a nice guy, unlike his father. I would have no problem and would love if Jonathon ran the White Sox. He has a law degree from Northwestern and an MBA from another school. He has worked in a law firm and as an investment banker in two different large firms. Evidently he got tired of finance and he changed paths and went into real estate. He spent 8 years as a managing partner of Stonegate Development Partners LLC and then recruited away by the Michigan Avenue Real Estate Group. He currently is now managing partner of TripleShot LLC, a specialized software developmental company. In addition he also serves as the CEO of FroogalPay, a virtual payment platform. Based on all that above background, he definitely sounds sharp enough and well rounded enough to do a better job than his clueless detached father. I've heard somewhere he isn't interest in the Dad's two sports teams, because if he did, I'm sure he could be involved. That's really too bad actually.

Point taken. You are technically right, but I assure you it's just a token BS meaningless job with a corner office, where he was told to stay out of the way of the new FO regime. Come on a senior advisor! LOL! Maybe he is allowed to advise on what color to paint the executive offices or what coffee company to use for employees. Paxson has absolutely no power or authority with the Bulls when it comes to major FO decisions. I am quite sure Michael told Arturas Karnisovas he is in compete charge of the total Bulls operations and don't mind Paxson, as it's just a silly mind game my dad plays with totally inept executives who should be gone from the team.

I appreciate your optimism but the Sox are not the Astros. The Rays are at the top or near the top in almost all hitting and pitching stats. The Sox are near the bottom in almost all those same stats. The Astros are a hot team as well winning six of their last seven. Two big alarming stats to watch in tonight's game: 1. The Sox pitching staff is #28 with most home runs given up. The Rays hitters lead MLB in most home runs hit. 2, The Rays pitching staff is #1 for least home runs given up. The Sox hitters are 23rd in home runs hit. I'd love to see Dylan pitch his best game of the year and shut them down, but this team with their current negative attitude, poor effort and results, just doesn't give me any hope.

You're absolutely right is was a horrible trade. However right now the one thing different between the two Jerry owned teams is Jerry's son Michael who runs the Bulls. Although Michael hasn't made them a top NBA team yet, the one great thing he did immediately, was clean out the Gar-Pax cancer and go to the outside for a new fresh FO start. It sure would be nice if Jerry could drop his insane ego and deranged stubbornness and allow Michael to run the Sox as well. I'm not saying Michael would make miracles happen, but I'm damn sure, he would get rid of the current Jerry Reinsdorf cancer of his Kenny-Rick Hahn utter trainwreck.

You're absolutely right, but now we painfully understand and were clearly burned by the old adage, "Be Careful What You Wish For." In hindsight Rick Hahn should have told Renteria that he would remain as manager, because frankly he was a good leader and motivator. However to remain the manager, he would have to get rid of his entire loser coaching staff. I realize now, that Renteria with competent coaches for hitting, pitching and the bench, could have helped Ricky make better managerial decisions, especially with the bullpen, which was one of his glaring weaknesses.

Rick Hahn calls a press conference to announce that Jerry Reinsdorf has agreed to and supports Rick and Kenny to begin immediately to implement a full blown, "knock it all down" rebuild, effective immediately! Rick assures the fan base that the prior rebuild which didn't go as well as planned, assures everyone this time around the rebuild will be a "you can take it to the bank" Home Run. The mission statement from Jerry which Rick reads because Jerry was too busy to attend, is to trade most of players away and gut the roster to dramatically lower the team payroll and begin immediately the 2023 full tanking mode to secure the #1 draft pick. Jerry officially announces his belief and trust in his two senior executives. Thus Jerry informs everyone he has torn up their current long term contracts signed in 2017 and given both of them a new 10-year extended contract that includes a huge salary increase. During this press conference, Rick reassures the fan base that within 3-4 years you can definitely count on multiple WS championships and yearly routine playoff appearances. As the press conference ends and the reporters all screaming to ask questions, Rick waves bye to everyone with his traditional condescending smirk and says, "I'll see you all at the parade in a couple of years."

Excellent post and you really nailed it! We all as Sox fans feel the same pain as you described. I know it would never happen, but it's sad and tragic that Jerry isn't forced to read all these comments, or required to sit at a town hall meeting and let angry loyal and hurt Sox fans vent to him.

You nailed the crux of the problem. Once again this goes right back on the ego of Jerry Reinsdorf. He absolutely can't stand when he has to admit he fucked up. JR would rather go down on the Sox Titanic and support his two FO losers KW and RH. We saw this before with Jerry back in the late 90's when he allowed Jerry Krause to let Phil Jackson go, knowing full well the greatest player in the world and the man that gave Jerry 6 rings and filled his stadium to the max, was going to leave. Jerry knew it back then it was wrong, but allowed it anyway. Sadly this is an owner with a flawed concept of leadership and prudent management decision-making concepts. I'm sorry but in any business or sports team, if a person has clearly done a horrible job and done it for a long time, then that leader/executive (in this case Jerry) is suppose to do the prudent organizational decision and terminate those people who have failed him. It's nothing personal. It's called being a smart and prudent leader. Yet it seems like JR always takes it personally. Jerry is more worried about damaging his own ego, that terminating KW and RH which will appear that Jerry screwed up and that he let this go on for too long. This a fragile and demented ego flaw that Jerry has never been able to separate from. The other big leadership flaw of Jerry has been in how he delegates the authority and responsibilities to his FO people way beyond the normal scope of delegating. It's fine to delegate responsivities to his executives, but at some point a good owner or top Executive/CEO must require full accountability to his people. This is such a blatant weakness of Reinsdorf. This is why KW and RH and the entire FO in this organization is still employed. Meanwhile while Jerry won't make the necessary leadership tough decisions, he sadly allows for the collateral damage, which is the fact he is making his baseball team and loyal fan base suffer miserably.

Through this 7 game losing streak, and 8 of 9 and third worst record 7-18, the Sox have fallen to new lows with these stats in critical areas: Hitting: Tied for 27th - Walks 28th OBP - .292 Tied for 22nd in Runs per game - 4.0 Pitching: 29th ERA - 5.53 29th WHIP - 1.56 29th BB's - 4.67 The good news is, the Sox Bullpen has gone from 30th in ERA to 27th at 6.09! LOL! Now the Sox come back home to face the #1 Rays (20-4) who gave them a nice sweep job this past weekend! As the bad guy in the movie "Taken" said to Liam Neeson, "Good Luck!"
