That's what a great front office does in the last 15 years when they have one of the lowest payrolls in baseball every year and actually have to be smart in their FO decisions. -

Yep, at least one guy on this team is trying to make adjustments and be patient -

I don't see it at all this season. Too much bad hitting from poor plate discipline, inconsistent starting pitching and a horrible bullpen. As the losses pile up, the losing attitude and lack of confidence will get even worse. Then of course the evitable injures the Sox are going to continue to occur throughout the season. -

I think so, Just too bad we don't have a pitching coach who could refine him and not waste his talent. -

Ahh, shades of TLR! Seeing this lineup is so frustrating because it illustrates how significant injured players on the Sox cost you when you can't have TA leading off and instead you get Andrus. This lineup truly exposes how bad Hahn has done in assembling quality productive players to be a winning playoff contender. -

I agree and why can't Burger and Seby bat higher in the line-up? -
I too am excited about the upcoming Bears draft and season and future seasons. The reason is because of new hope with a new fresh mind in GM Ryan Poles. The correlation I will make is at least George McCaskey is trying to get the GM position right. After the 2011 season, Bears GM Jerry Angelo was fired. In 2012 Rick Hahn was promoted to GM of the Sox. Of course the next two GM's for the Bears were disasters, but at least the owner changed GM's two more times in an attempt to get it right. Time will tell if Poles is the right man. I hope he is, but there is not guarantee. However my point is, look at the Sox owner and GM situation. It's 2023 and the same Sox GM is here since 2012. The results have been a debacle and the Sox owner continues to care less and not make any change.

I agree with you and it's not making fun of him. The fact is, not all older men age the same. Senility comes to some men sooner than others. I like many in this forum know some older family members that similar age. They sometimes act very stubborn or illogical and they for sure don't act like the same people they were when they were younger.
-
I agree and by no means is this disaster team solely the fault of Pedro. It's clearly the fault of his boss Rick Hahn who assembled this horrific team for him. Pedro is a rookie manager "learning the ropes" as you mentioned. However Rick Hahn is not a rookie GM and had plenty of years to turn this team around, but "still hasn't learned the ropes!"
-
A manager is obviously a much more important person than the bench coach. Plus who knows how much if any Pedro listens to his coaches. My only point was people are complaining how Grifol has turned out to be a poor choice and rightfully so. My only point was look at the path Hahn took interviewing a coach that his own team didn't want.

All your points are sadly spot on. The real sad thing here is, if Jerry's ego is that arrogant where he doesn't give a crap to take this organization to further lower depths of baseball hell, then he really is a sick and uncaring human. The fact he isn't bothered that it embarrasses his own legacy and for sure embarrassing his family is frightening. This real is a sick and warped aging senile man, when he absolutely doesn't have one ounce of guilt in letting his long time loyal die-hard Sox fans down, which makes his stubborn decision making so disgraceful and sickening.

What did we expect! Does Hahn ever get much right? Hahn interviews long time KC coach Pedro and gives him the job, even though KC has been one the worst teams in baseball over the last 6-7 years. Then the best part is, our genius GM didn't take the hint from KC, in that their GM didn't have any desire to hire Pedro and went out to a winning organization like Tampa Bay and hired their bench coach for the KC job. The game winning hits just keep rolling along from the knucklehead Hahn!

I heard they were so exciting to watch. Aparicio led off and would get on with a walk or hit and then steal second. Then Nellie Fox who batted #2 drove him in with a simple single. From what I've read the 1959 World Series road games played in LA and were completely unfair because the Sox had to play the away games in the Los Angels Memorial Coliseum, which was obviously not a baseball stadium and the outfield dimensions were an absurd joke between left field and right field. Plus the Sox could only get 47,000 fans in the old Comiskey Park and the LA Coliseum held over 92,000 yelling fans.
-
I will follow them too no matter what, but going forward, there will be no more getting my hopes up and falling for the Rick Hahn false promises, such as multiple championships and see you at the parade BS. Going forward I am only expecting the worse from this team and not getting my hope up anymore. If this team finishes horribly bad and loses 100 games as I suspect, then great and I won't be upset. I will simply say, its good it happened and that Assh*#ole owner and GM deserved it. However in a miraculous case and miracle that the Sox turn this around and make the playoffs, then I will be happy and pleasantly surprised. However the owner will not get a dime from me this year where I take my family to one single game and spend that massive amount of money.
-
Your key point here is how this dysfunctional organization doesn't give a crap about their fans. Yet the Sox fans over the years give a major crap about their team and might be some of the most loyal fan bases in baseball, considering the crap and results the Sox owner and FO put on the field for their fans. I get in pro team sports not all GM's will be successful. An owner makes a choice on his GM and sometimes it doesn't work out. However those owners in all four sports usually do the smart and logical next step, which is to fire their loser GM and find a new one. Yet our loyal Sox fans have the worst owner in all of sports and they are constantly and blatantly screwed for being a loyal Sox fan and hoping for change...just because they have no control and its not happening under the POS Jerry Reinsdorf. Yet the Sox fans keep coming back and pouring money into this horsesh*t dysfunctional owner's team.

Moncada actually dealing with a back issue.
The Kids Can Play replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree he isn't chubby, I was using that in a facetious manner. Yet he is bigger and a wider in the waist. He wasn't a kid then, the fact is he was 21 years old when he came up as a rookie for the Sox. Yes as male adults get older their metabolism changes, but that's when they make adjustments on their diet and workout regime. There are plenty of major league baseball players that come up at 21 and several years later they are still the same size and remain in great shape. This is especially necessary and critical for 2nd basemen and shortstops. Look at TA, he might have gotten a bit bigger in his arms and upper body, but his legs and waist are still lean like he was when he came up as a rookie. Again, there is this "Pro Moncada" segment in this forum that loves to make excuses for him and rationalize all of his failures. He simply got lazy and isn't in as good of shape to maybe still play second base, as opposed to remaining slower and be ok for third base. If his body was in better shape maybe he wouldn't be having so many hamstring injuries the last few years. It is amazing though as one poster mentioned, when the topic of Moncada comes up, the sensitivity and hitting nerves really intensifies. -
You are remembering correctly. Both of them had great rookie years in 2020. Their future looked bright.

Have you looked at the photos of now compared to when he first came to the Sox? He is definitely heavier and slower now than then. -

I would say chubby! He is as slow as he ever before running out a groundball. Of course just go look at photos of Moncada when he first was traded to the Sox.
