Nothing angers me more than the Cubs now about to go 11-6 today and off to a good start. Plus they have the #12 ranked farm system. There was a time only a few years ago where most Cubs fans were so jealous of the White Sox direction upwards and the Cubs going downhill. Funny how things change drastically in a few years.

For sh*ts & giggles I decided to check the record based on the Sox not winning a single series. Keep mind there are two series of only 2 games each vs. the Cubs, 7 series of 4 games and the remaining series are all 3 games. For the two Cub series, I had them splitting 1-1 on each series and for the seven 4 game series, I had the Sox also splitting 2-2. Finally for the remaining 3 game series which are the majority left, I have the Sox going 1-2 in each series. Record now - 7-12 1st half - 26-44 2nd half - 27 46 Final 2023 record - 60-102

This team is going to lose 90 plus games...

I agree it's all in the hands of the fans. Until they stop going and letting Reinsdorf and the FO see an empty stadium, the same crap will keep being put on the field. -

Grifol is not only is a questionable hire and quite possibly a terrible mistake as the Sox manager, but he is so annoying when he defends his mediocre players way too much to a fault. I was listening to the post game on the radio driving yesterday after game 1 and he kept saying how Lynn was just getting bad luck once again. He was so proud of Lynn outing and how he battled. He also went on and said he was so proud of all his guys in how hard they played. I realize the manager can't go overboard and blast his players too hard to the media, but he better at some point have a closed door team meeting and blast the crap out of them privately. -
Besides being lost look at his batting stance. It's flawed. I went back to look at YouTube videos from 2019 when he did hit his 31 home runs and his left leg wasn't in that awkward of a stance, like his ankle is broke. They need to get him out of the lineup and let him work on it in the batting cage or move him way down the lineup. Even if you fix his stance he has horrible plate coverage and doesn't read breaking balls out of the zone. Every pitcher going forward knows this weakness of Eloy and isn't going to throw any pitch anywhere near the zone for him.

Oh, and Moncada doesn't strikeout a lot constantly swinging at pitches outside the zone. That's a joke! Burger actually played 95 games last year and not 90. He played 82 at Charlotte and 15 with the Sox, but was available for a lot more games and not injured last year. Moncada was not affected by Covid for all three years since 2019. That is just a bunch of crap. Even when he did play somewhat healthy in 2021, his numbers were not as the original poster mentioned a MVP caliber player when he is healthy. His best year of the last three was 2021 of .263/.375/.412/.787 which are anything but MVP numbers.

Actually that is not even close to being accurate on Burger regarding his health or production. Since he recovered from the Achilles injuries, Jake has played fairly healthy. In 2021 he played the majority of the season at Charlotte and only missed a few games there. When he was called up for a short time in the 2021, he played in all 15 games he was available to start or pinch hit in. In 2022 yes Jake had one bad injury but that was from a bruise bone from a hit by a pitch where he missed 23 games. Yet since his Achilles injuries, Jake has not missed one time for the typical hamstrings and obliques that Moncada is known for. On the other hand Moncada had numerous injuries and missed way more games than Burger. In 2021 Moncada did played healthier and played in 144 games. However in 2022 he only played in 104 games and was on the IL three different times. Two were for Hamstring strains and one for an oblique strain. Now in 2023, Burger hasn't missed a game yet and Moncada has already missed 9 games due to a back issue and still counting. Even when he gets back, hw soon before he pulls another hamstring? As far as your comment that when Moncada is healthy he is an MVP candidate potential...is at this stage a pipedream and a delusional prayer. Yes he got off to a good start, but as usual, it was just a matter of time before he got injured. The facts are, the last time Moncada showed anything resembling MVP caliber numbers was 2019 when he did put up good numbers. Since 2019 they are not anything close to MVP caliber numbers and actually well below average numbers for the third base position in MLB: Moncada's last 3 years 2020 - .225/.273/.353/.626 2021 - .263/.375/.412/.787 2022 - .212/.273/353/.626 I'm not sure where you are coming up with your outrageous comment of, Jake Burger is a "very flawed baseball player at his best." I wish we had a few more players on this Sox team that were as flawed as Jake Burger. As long as we got some solid prospects for Moncada, I would do that deal in a heartbeat.

I agree one of these two needs to be traded, but now is too soon! Of the two I personally would trade Moncada and keep Burger. The right time to wait for a trade is further towards the trade deadline or when some team loses their third baseman on a serious injury or their 3B isn't hitting and that team feels they need a proven 3B to go for it in the playoffs. It would also be nice if Moncada could improve his production so his trade value could be better. Burger has proven he is more valuable than Moncada going forward for the following reasons: 1. Jake is clearly better hitter. I'm done with this prayer and fantasy hoping Moncada has that kind of year he had in 2019. 2. Jake has put his early career injuries behind him and has proven he can stay consistently healthy. Moncada will never remain healthy and I'm done hoping Moncada will learn how get his body in the right shape to stay healthy. 3. Yes Jake is not as good in fielding as Moncada and the edge is huge for now. Yet Jake has done well so far only making one error. Plus in time, when Burger puts enough time in and he gets more games and reps, as well as working even harder at improving in the off season, I am confident he can become decent and serviceable at 3B. 4. Burger brings more passion and energy to this team and brings the "FUN" to the game, which the Sox so badly need. 2023 G AB 2B HR RBI's BA OBP SLG OPS Moncada 9 39 4 2 5 .308 .325 .564 .889 Burger 12 26 2 5 10 .308 .367 .962 1.328 Just as a side note, Burger doesn't qualify obviously with enough AB's for MLB stat leaders, however to put Jake's SLG and OPS in perspective, the MLB leader in both thus far is: Matt Chapman (Tor) in both SLG% - .785 and OPS% - .1287
-
It's not crazy, but a better strategy is to put and keep Burger at #4 in the lineup instead of Eloy and move Eloy further back in the lineup. I get sitting down Eloy would put a fire under his ass hopefully, but I personally would still like to see Eloy in the lineup, even if much lower so that he can get his swings in and hopefully correct this horrible slump he is in.
-
Jake's power in 10 games thus far equates to a SLG% of .962 and OPS% of .1329. I think a couple of games ago with the HR he hit vs. Bal, it was summed up best by Steve Stone when he said and I'm paraphrasing, "you don't often hear that loud type of loud bat sound, like you do when Jake hits a home run. Note to Pedro: Don't you dare take Jake out of the lineup and please think smart Pedro and keep Jake 4th in the lineup and move Eloy further back until Eloy proves he hasn't lost his power and stroke and starts hitting for power.

I knew most of these things about Jerry and you are correct, this is who he is. It still doesn't change my thought that the way he is running the club is negligent and incompetent. Yes he is the owner and fully has the right to do as he pleases. However a lot of these feelings he has, are clear signals that he has become complacent running the team. It's sad if Jerry is ok and happy with his one title and doesn't have any passion to win another title. Furthermore if just making money is his only purpose to continue being owner of the Sox, then that is disrespectful to the city of Chicago and all the loyal Die-Hard Sox fans that made him his money. In my opinion, just because Jerry is 86 is not a good reason to be complacent with one title and also a complacent and apathetic owner. I am not a Jerry Jones fan, but at least I respect the fact the Cowboys owner at 80 years old, is still passionate about winning another Super Bowl. Yes Jerry Jones has three titles, but you won't ever see him sitting back and making comments to his friends, family and fans, that he is fine with those 3 titles. Finally, the fact Reinsdorf likes that extra layer of protection from criticism, is just another reason, if not to sell yet, at least let one of his sons help him run the team better and more productively...thus making the team ultimately worth more until he does indeed pass away and then the team is sold. I get that Reinsdorf has the six Bulls titles this may make him technically the most successful owner in Chicago sports history, but it damn sure isn't because of his ownership brilliance. It's only because he got lucky one year in the 1984 draft and had the greatest player of all-time fall in his lap. As a final note, I realize my posts and feelings on Reinsdorf are always quite harsh. I will never expect anyone here to agree with me, but those are my feelings on this man. Nobody is going to change my mind. I will always hate this man vehemently for being such an inept owner and destroying my favorite Chicago sports team and keeping them in the Baseball Mediocrity of Hell.

Interesting and sad on how you cherry picked what I said and didn't read my entire post, nor did you obviously read or comprehend the entire post written by Lip Man 1. What I responded to was the following remark. Luke Appling hit a shot down the line that apparently kicked up the chalk but was ruled foul. When Appling argued the call, he was supposedly told by umpire Harry Geisel that “Feller is going to be a credit to the game.” If that umpire actually blatantly knew the ball was fair because the ball kicked up chalk and the umpire said in a condescending manner to Luke Appling, "Feller is going to be a credit to game." then yes, he yes he was a POS then. The fact it happened over 80 years ago is irrelevant to whether I can call him out now. Oh btw, Mr. High and Almighty poster, if an umpire told a player the same thing today, he would still be a POS. Also, Mr. Righteous, I have never mentioned or told anyone in SoxTalk EVER before or in that last post, that I was perfect and I never did anything wrong. not did I EVER say everyone in here are all just pieces of sh*t...so don't put words in my mouth. Next time when you read a post in SoxTalk it might benefit you, if you read the post more carefully and make sure you correctly comprehend what the poster was posting and what the replying poster replied to.

OMG that is horrible! ! Is there any other owner in baseball who would allow their GM to have a team be the highest payroll for a bullpen and have the worst ERA and stats for that bullpen, on top of all the horrible results for the last 7 years from the start of the rebuild debacle? Not only is there no accountability from Jerry, but now this embarrassing trainwreck journey is getting even worse.

If that really happened on the Feller no hitter, which I believe did, than that umpire was a real POS. Luke Appling wasn't "Chopped Liver" going into that 1940 season. I just checked and Appling was coming off another .300 season hitting .310, which was his 8th season over .300 in his prior 10 seasons entering 1940. Of course we all know Appling went on to have his White Sox #4 jersey retied and was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
