  1. This is true and it's more about the horrible roster Hahn gave him. However I still don't like some of Pedro's bullpen decisions, lineups or resting certain players so early in the season at critical games. There is huge room for improvement from Pedro.
  2. I think that could be considered literally several relievers stealing money from the Sox. I'm not sure where that ranks for team bullpen paid rosters, but I do know it equates to the worst bullpen in baseball.
  3. That's the point...he was right there and KC didn't want him. To a sharp GM that should have been a huge warning sign not to hire Pedro. KC didn't want Pedro even though he had been there for years. Instead KC went to the outside and hired Matt Quatraro, the bench coach from Tampa Bay. Hahn instead knew better and didn't question that and hired Pedro from a team that was 65-97 last year and haven't had a winning season since 2016. Rick Hahn evidently didn't care that KC didn't hire their own long time coach Pedro. KC wanted to stop the continual losing seasons and wanted Quatraro from the successful Rays who are an obvious consistent winning baseball team and culture.
  4. Sounds good, I just hope we don't screw him up. It would be more reassuring if we knew the Sox had the right coaches down in the minors to develop his full potential like the good winning organizations do with pitchers.
  5. I have my serious doubts on whether Pedro will be a good manager or not. I am not giving up on him, but so far I'm not impressed. I realize he doesn't have the best roster to work with, but he has made some managerial mistakes so far. Hahn should have been able to find a more successful manager than Pedro with a strong winning track record and results. Taking a lifetime baseball coach is risky. Not all first time managers make it or are successful. Maybe Pedro is just a super nice guy who built great relationships but really isn't a good leader or strategic manager. In other words maybe its' the "peter principle" for Pedro. I do know that the Mets GM figured it out when he hired an experienced winning manager in Buck Showalter two years ago. Prior to Buck the previous four managers in the prior 20 years had 4 winning seasons. In fact the prior two years in 2020-21, Luis Rojas was 103-119 and then fired. Showalter comes in 2022 with a lot the same players and went 101-61 and is now 10-6 thus far for a two record of 111-62. Then again, this is Buck's 5th team and has never had a losing record at any of them. In fact, several of the teams he took over were losers until he came in. Hence why he has won 4 Manager of the Year awards. Leave to Jerry and Rick, they sure do know how to pick good managers, besides all the other areas that they excel at.
  6. You are so right on Bummer. Yet it seems to me this year he looks scared. He looks like that preverbal "deer in headlights" and having zero confidence. You're also right that Diekman sucks and he probably won't get this turned around and if he doesn't he needs to be DFA soon. In both cases, it just shows me a total lack of practice on their part in this last off-season when they should have put more time in perfecting their technique and accuracy on their pitches. This is Diekman's 12th season and Bummer's 7th. As veteran pitchers for what they are paid, they should be able to be more productive and reliable. I don't know, but when we face great relief pitchers that make us look bad, they always seem to pitch with an attitude, confidence and that edge that they are going to throw strikes and get outs. Again, another frustrating example of where Hahn has no clue how to build an effective bullpen through trades and free agent signings, nor does he have the scouts or coaching development setup in the minors to develop good relievers to bring up.
  7. The "Imperial March", the Darth Vader theme song from The "Empire Strikes Back."
  8. You're right they might be in line, however both of them or anyone else in the Sox organization, would be just as bad if not worse. This is why when Hahn is fired, which might not be for awhile, it should be officially the time to clean house and go get their next GM from the outside and from a really consistent winning organization. I know the pathetic Jerry Reinsdorf is too arrogant, stubborn and stupid to make that decision on his own, but I'm hoping and praying maybe his son Michael or his other successful son Johnathon, could help him see that wisdom and logic. Then again, maybe Jerry will keep on being the inept loser that he is and listen to nobody.
  9. https://nypost.com/2023/04/16/brawl-ensues-at-white-sox-game-security-hardly-anywhere-to-be-found/ This can only happen under the brilliant ownership of Jerry Reinsdorf and from the leadership of Jerry's stellar executive Rick Hahn. There were not enough security guards around! Hmm, Jerry must have told Rick in a memo, cut back on the number of security guards to increase the bottom line profit.
  10. You're right about we haven't seen the toughest teams yet. After this 3 game series against Philadelphia, then the Sox have two road series in a row. The first one is at Tampa Bay 10-2, best record in ML and then Toronto 10-6, second best record in the AL. The the Sox come home to face Tampa Bay again for 4 more. With the way the bullpen is imploding most games and the way we continue to be poor disciplined hitters, this record could become really ugly after the second Tampa Bay series for 4 games.
  11. Maybe because we have a bad manager and coaching staff that were hired by a really bad GM, and/or the manager and coaches have addressed the lack of plate discipline which causes too many swinging K's outside the zone, too few BB's and too few good hitting counts. The reality is probably many of the Sox hitters are just stubborn and/or dumb when it comes to being a smart and disciplined hitter. The fact is, this club is seriously undisciplined swinging at pitches well outside the zone and not getting many walks last year and again this year. We are tied for 25th this year in walks and last year we were 29th. We change managers and nothing changes. Maybe the roster is just terribly flawed. Again thanks to our genius GM Rick Hahn who has assembled this roster since the 2016 rebuild.
  12. The good news is Sundays at Guaranteed Rate Field is his domain. Dylan pitched in 7 Sunday day games and 6 of them were at GR. He was 4-0 with 0.77 ERA in all 7 Sunday games. Let the bats explode and let's win our first series of the season.
  13. Me neither and he gets to bat 3rd. I guess Pedro wasn't discouraged or had a lapse of memory of Sheets and his embarrassing turnaround and falling blunder in the OF.
  14. You are absolutely correct here. Burger is actually hitting LHP better than Sheets this year. Burger has 2 of his 3 HR's vs RHP this season and Sheets doesn't even have a home run or extra base hit yet.
  15. I would think a good organization would have some control over the selection of songs the players choose. I get it's the choice of the player, but it has to be within reason and in good taste. Are you telling me Clevinger could just pick this song or any song and nobody in the front office has knowledge or a clue it's going to be played? Just another example of a sh*t-hole organization run by loser front office executives. Furthermore, why in the world if Clevinger already was coming into this season with BS crap, would he even remotely consider doing something controversial. This guy has got to have the personality and intelligence of a delict moron.
  16. I am only going to discuss the Sheets vs Burger part. Sheets is not better than Burger against RHP. Burger is 6-17 .353 overall, but 3-6 .500 vs RHP. He has 3 HR's 2nd on the team, of which 2 HR's vs RHP this season. Sheets is 7-25 vs RHP .280, but most importantly he has zero extra base hits, along with of course zero home runs. Burger right now has the power over Sheets. I don't care if it's RHP or LHP, I would feel more comfortable with Burger hitting over Sheets in the lineup.
  17. There is a poll going on Twitter right now from Josh Nelson @soxmachine_josh Today's Poll: Is Rick Hahn doing a good job? YES 4% / NO 96% The 4% of the YES votes must be from Rick's family and friends, Cub fans and trolls, his boss Jerry Reinsdorf or just some dumb uneducated people detached from reality and MLB.
  18. Bernstein is an idiot and always has been!
  19. I totally agree with you Colas would be a better fit at 5th and be more protected so he could see better pitches. Seby should be playing more period! He is a superior defensive catcher over Grandal and I think he is a better hitter than Grandal. Maybe Grifol will improve his managing skills and make better lineups and bullpen decisions down the road, but for right now, he is a horrible manager.
  20. I agree leaving Ted Phillips as president for that long was a dumb decision. Then again George didn't keep Ted for his football decisions. At least McCaskey fired the three loser GM's prior to Ryan Poles in the last 11 years. Reinsdorf still has the same duo of loser FO guys in Kenny and Rick in those same 11 years.
  21. Everything you described about this team is 100 percent correct which is absolutely sickening. My concern is that Jerry will not fire Rick and Kenny during the season, but I don't think he will fire them after the season...even if we lose 90 games. Jerry has proven consistently he doesn't give a s%*#, or is smart enough due to his age and probable loss of cognitive skills...to do the right thing.
  22. I agree with you in theory that it shouldn't be that hard selecting top consensus prospects. However this is exactly one of Rick Hahn's weaknesses. I think he has failed in drafting top prospects and other than the Quintana trade, has failed badly in trades to get the top prospects. That is why I would rather take a pass on Hahn having anything to do in the next rebuild.
  23. You nailed it! For all the years I've been a die-hard Sox fan, this is the most unenjoyable and painful Sox team to watch. I recall over the years enjoying watching the Sox play even when they weren't good. There were always some good players to cheer for. Yet I find myself not only not enjoying this team anymore but being totally upset for the following reasons: 1. Absolutely hate the owner Jerry Reinsdorf for what he has done with this team and showing he doesn't give a s%*# if they are a bad and hard to watch. I've always hated Reinsdorf and even when we won the WS in 2005. I will never forgive him him for how he ran Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson out of town. 2. Can't stand that Rick Hahn destroyed this rebuild. He has clearly put us even further back. He has not only destroyed the rebuild, but has built a garbage farm system now ranked #26. His non-stop excuses continue to become more nauseating to listen. Yet he still has a job. 3. This team just doesn't have any chemistry like the other winning teams in baseball seem to have. You're right, it's a bunch of selfish players, with horrible baseball skills, that shows up every game with this horrible offensive structured team, terrible defensive players and probably the worst bullpen in baseball. 4. This team is always injured. Again back to Hahn because he put this team together. I don't like or respect George McCaskey as an owner of the Bears, but at least when people miserably fail him, he will eventually fire their butts and make changes. This demented owner is just so arrogant and apathetic and just keeps letting the horse s%*# pile up?
  24. Whenever it starts, it better not include Rick Hahn handling another rebuild.
