  1. All sports teams always are under valued until they are sold. The White Sox team will go for a lot more than 1.76 billion when it's eventually on the open market for sale. There are only 30 of these MLB teams and they aren't being sold very often. Once the Sox are for truly for sale, there will be many extremely rich billionaires who will covet owning a MLB team like the Sox, especially one in the third largest market. These rich billionaires will bid high and be willing and able to pay way over the valuation of the team. Unfortunately that day cannot come soon enough!
  2. Wow, that is so horribly sad! I am praying they caught it early and best wishes to him and his wife. I know he will fight this cancer liked he battles for his closing saves with 110 effort.
  3. I've said this before several times in other posts. This is what you get with Steve Cohen as one of the richest billionaires in the US as the owner of a MLB team. I am so jealous the Mets have an owner who isn't cheap, bought the team as a fun hobby, not needing the team revenue to survive and seriously wants to spend ridiculous money to attempt to win a championship at all cost. I am hoping someday in my lifetime we get a Steve Cohen type rich billionaire owner, once the loser Reinsdorf sells the team. The diehard and loyal Sox fans in the 3rd largest US market deserve it. I understand this doesn't guarantee s%*# that the Mets will win a World Series title. However tell me one Sox fan right now who wouldn't take Cohen as the owner over our POS Reinsdorf. At least the Mets are spending the money and attempting to put a competitive team on the field, as opposed to our cheap and demented owner.
  4. Actually if you Google this topic there are several articles that have this trade in the top 5. Now of course it's all subjective and based on opinions. If you feel its not a top 5 that is fine and your opinion, but I saw a list of all Sox trades in their lifetime and IMO it's definitely is right up there.
  5. You're right Jerry's other son Johnathan is very sharp and super successful on his own. The problem still exists that in Jerry's will, he has told his sons he wants the Sox team sold. Even if Johnathan took over and the team wasn't sold, the problem still remains that the Reinsdorf family isn't ridiculously rich like the Met's Steve Cohen. Ideally, the Sox need that type of liquid rich billionaire to come in and compete with the other teams like the Mets. Padres, Phillies and Dodgers that are spending the money to aggressively attempt to compete for a championship.
  6. I appreciate your humor and sarcasm, but sadly it's a nightmare trip down "memory lane" and reminding us what a POS loser Kenny Williams was and still is. One of Kenny's many genius moves in trading trading away Gio Gonzalez and Ryan Sweeney to the A's for Nick Swisher. To this day still considered one of the 5 worst trades in White Sox history. I cannot wait until this JR, KW and RH nightmare is gone!
  7. Well that what happens when the 38th richest man in the US Steve Cohen, owns the Mets and cares about winning and spending whatever insane amount of money it takes to attempt to attain that goal. It sucks as a Sox fan, because it's a luxury the Sox fans will never see, until this team is sold and the POS loser owner JR is gone!
  8. I'm happy for Jose, he deserves to finish his career with a winning organization that wants to compete for WS championships. I am also happy for Vaughn as now gets to play first base full time and hopefully the Sox can fix the two corner outfield positions.
  9. Well if Pedro had a lot to do with this modern day hire, then kudos to him and Pedro just might be a great manager for the Sox and change the direction of this team.
  10. Read the warning sign on Bauer: Beware of psycho nutjobs who are domestic violence abusers. They can be harmful and toxic to your clubhouse culture. Our team culture and attitude already needs major fixing, which hopefully Grifol will fix! Bauer however is not a solution to improve this team attitude and culture, regardless of his immense pitching talent.
  11. Normally they don't, but 2016 the year you are referring to, was an exception and aberration for the Sox front office and owner. That is now the infamous rebuild and tear down. Of course when you do a total rebuild as that Hahn deemed it, you trade all your top assets at their peak. Hence why Sale, Eaton and Quintana brought us what looked at the time, to be a good haul of players. As hindsight is always 20-20, it obviously has not worked out as well as it should have.
  12. Wow, I knew many of these things, but didn't know all the other sad and pathetic tidbits, which just further illustrates why this organization is so awful and clueless. This makes me even more depressed and sad that Reinsdorf is still the inept and uncaring owner of my favorite sports team. It's so unfair to the diehard and loyal Sox fans that has to once again, deal with Jerry Reinsdorf/Rick Hahn and their loser front office...that continue to play checkers when the other great baseball organizations are playing chess going into 2023! Thanks again for the story!
  13. Sad state of affairs. Sox sadly are going nowhere. Not sure what it will take to get the team to wake up. Simple answer: New owner and/or a new front office where they are competent, intelligent and actually know how to build a baseball championship organization! In others word, not until JR passes on and the team is sold.
  14. Good Riddance! He isn't worth the money! He is turning 35 in a month with declining numbers.
  15. If Hahn made great trades and put the team in a position to win as you say, then he needed to come through on his promise. He promised a championship caliber team and championship by now. The Sox are anything but that. I also don't agree that Hahn got us in that major "contention" window. The total responsibilities of Hahn as a general manager going back to his initial rebuild in 2016 were: 1. Make good trades selling off his top assets. Hindsight is 20/20, but I'm not convinced he made so many great trades. He definitely screwed up trades at the deadline. Furthermore, if they were such great trades, then why didn't they pan out? Of course there are a number of reasons they didn't pan out, such as a shitty manager and coaching staff, players not staying healthy. Again this was Hahn's responsibility to hire the right coaches and training, fitness and flexibility staff to make sure his team played more healthy and could reach their full potential. 2. Hire successful and productive free agents. There were several bad free agent signings. 3. Draft smart and well. I'm not so sure drafting Sheets #49 overall in 2017 and Vaughn #3 overall in 2019 were the best use of draft picks when we had Abreu still performing at a high level. 4. Hire a good manager (although this was not Hahn's fault as he did get stuck with the POS TLR. 5. Develop the farm system. It's currently ranked the 26th best farm system and that is definitely on Hahn In the end, no matter how you or anyone else justifies or debates this Sox rebuild, the fact is it hasn't been super successful, or most importantly...the rebuild results he promised!
  16. Hell f'ing no! Hahn also promised us a championship caliber team or championship by now? Like many of us have stated ad nauseam, Hahn should have been fired and not allowed to make this manager decision. His handling of the 2016 rebuild has thus far been a total debacle, as we now enter 2023 in year 7 of this rebuild! Once again, I cannot wait until this pathetic and inept organization is sold and a new Sox owner takes over!
  17. Amazing how these ex-players who felt the Big Hurt was a prima-donna or douchebag, never had the balls to tell this to his face in the clubhouse. Instead they ignore the cardinal rule of team sports...that players keep the negative things inside the locker room and not open to the media and fans. It will always bother me that ex players who try to expose an ex-teammate for negative things, don't seem to understand to take the high road when being interviewed about a fellow past player. These ex-players are classless and total losers when they don't understand this simple adage: "Praise in Public and Criticize in Private!"
  18. Hopefully the new manager will simply sit Eloy down and have a positive meeting with him to educate him on the big overall team picture/goal to be a full time DH for the following reasons: 1. Playing left field is a huge liability to the team success because Eloy is a slow and poor defensive left fielder. 2. Playing left field versus DH, significantly raises the chance of him getting injured more often and being on the IL...which is a huge loss to the offense of the Sox. 3. Eloy needs drop the ego with his delusional idea that he is a top end competent left fielder. He needs mature and grow up and play where the manager feels he is most useful and needed. Sorry Eloy, but "the inmates don't run the asylum!"
  19. The day this team is sold and we get a new owner will be the greatest day in my Sox lifetime fandom, other than the 2005 World Series championship.
  20. If Ozzie was so coveted by other teams, he would have already been a manager in the last few years. Other than the Sox, I'm not so sure he is in high demand in the league.
  21. Yep you said it right...its plain stupid nonsense the method in which Hahn takes his lazy approach and doesn't get the top candidates in early. Hence why we'll end up with a 2nd rate retread manager.
  22. I realize Katz wasn't hired to coach one guy. The fact is, he got the job because of the off-season transformation he did for Giolito. Having said that, if Katz was so good and knew Lucas so well, why didn't he fix him? I am not convinced Katz had much to do with the pitchers you mentioned either. - It is my personal opinion that Katz had little to do with Cease improving as it was more centered around the hard work Dylan put in on his own. - As far a Kopech goes, there is zero credit to take because thus far, Kopech still is labeled as hopeful and a huge potential pitcher, but he is not a healthy and proven starter yet. - There is absolutely no credit for Cueto as he is his own man. - Martin was in Charlotte more than he was here under Katz the last two years. Again, I did not say Katz is a bad pitching coach. He may or may not be good. I simply feel a new manager coming in should have the right to hire his own pitching coach, as well as the other coaches. If the new manager wants to keep Katz then that is his prerogative.
  23. I realize that Ozzie apparently has interviewed for the Sox manager's job. However prior to Ozzie getting an interview, as I stated a few times, it was documented by Reinsdorf himself by the Chicago Tribune on Aug 17 2017 stating the comments Jerry made in a USA Today interview. White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf made clear he'd like to see Ozzie Guillen manage in the major leagues again. He said he's recommended Guillen for jobs. Reinsdorf also made clear Guillen wouldn't be doing so with the Sox. In a recent interview with USA Today, Reinsdorf said Guillen "burned some bridges when he left here" to manage the Marlins in 2012 and said, "He just can't come back here." Keep in mind, even though Jerry allowed Ozzie to be part of the pre and post game studio shows, that is such an unimportant position relative to the magnitude a being the manager for the White Sox, which obviously Ozzie coveted. It's not like Jerry said Ozzie couldn't be a part of the studios shows, he just said publicly, that he can't be a manager again. Having said that, once again this just proves that not only is Jerry a POS owner and a clueless executive/owner, he now has officially attached to his legacy that he lacks a serious of amount of integrity. • Aug 17, 2017 at 12:12 pm
  24. I am not convinced Katz did a great enough job to be kept on. Likewise I am not saying he did a bad job either. We don't know is how much or how little input he had in the pitching staff with the arrogant and demented TLR around. Maybe Tony never listened to or respected Katz. Plus if Katz was the so called the "Fixer and "Savior" of Lucas Giolito originally, then why wasn't Katz able to fix him these past two seasons as Lucas progressively became worse? I just think a new manager needs to make his own pitching coach choice. Don't forget if TLR had his way and Dave Duncan took his TLR's offer, Katz would not have been the pitching coach these last two years. As far as the FO making the coaching staff moves, that is not always the case with all organizations. There are many clubs where the manager will select his entire coaching staff. Having said that, I am not comfortable with Rick Hahn making coaching staff hires versus the new manager who knows more than Hahn what he wants and needs. Hahn should advise and assist the new manager in finding coaches to interview and maybe even join in the interviewing process, but the final decision should be made by the new manager. Maybe its about time this dysfunctional organization changes they way they do business in order to change their unsuccessful ways.
  25. YES and not only a FULL STOP, we don't need anymore posters worrying about Ozzie being hired or wanting Ozzie hired. Reinsdorf has stated publicly and his comments documented on SoxTalk before, that per Jerry....Ozzie burned his bridges with the Sox and will never be brought back.
