The Sox slogan for the season should be: "Yep, if we didn't have any bad luck...we wouldn't have had any luck at all!"
-
I love this idea if you could move Hahn up to Kenny's spot and make sure he is never involved. Assure the new GM had full authority on all baseball decisions, which would be guaranteed by Reinsdorf, then maybe a good GM would possibly come here. Sadly though, unless the team gets sold in the offseason or Jerry passes away, this is probably not happening.

The White Sox cannot be fixed by next season
The Kids Can Play replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree we need major changes and overhauling this roster. However even if you did trade all those names and did a new rebuild...is there anyone here who would be ok with Hahn making those trade decisions to determine what future young prospects we got back, based on his history of trades during this now and counting 6th year of the infamous 2016 rebuild? -
I wish Jerry would read these with the front office all together in a meeting.
-
This cant be emphasized enough on how poorly Hahn has put together this team. Trying to make two lifetime first basemen from little league thru college into first time corner outfielders is just insane. As you said, the other disaster part of Hahn was his selection of older past 30 yr old "past their prime" pitchers like Diekman, Kelly, Graveman and Velasquez who would suck on Cleveland or any other team besides the Sox.

Great point and I missed that. Even more reason Francona is a stud!

Your GM & Manager 2023 Preference
The Kids Can Play replied to Bossanoveralls's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You are probably right and that is so disgustingly pathetic, but ultimately we will dream to get a Chernoff type hire when Jerry passes away. -
I wish their were more fans like you that would vow to do the same thing with their money.

Your GM & Manager 2023 Preference
The Kids Can Play replied to Bossanoveralls's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Recruit and steal away Mike Chertoff the GM of the Cleveland Guardians and make him president of White Sox baseball total operations. Tell Jerry he cannot get involved whatsoever, other than handing him a budget and payroll amount to spend. I would then trust Chertoff to hire the right manager, GM, and other key critical FO personnel. -
Anti-climactic news! The record, season and damage was already done because of this loser manager. A smart owner would have announced "Due to further medical testing, procedures and results, Tony LaRussa will not be retuning this season and has officially decided to retire as White Sox manager. Now fans and media have to needlessly waste time worrying and debating whether TLR is retuning in 2023.

What Francona has done with a 66 million payroll (27th ranked), youngest team in baseball and brought up 14 rookies to their big league roster; is nothing less than brilliant. Oh btw, for those us that complained that the reason the Sox offense was so poor, was due to a lack of home runs...well guess what...Cleveland is 29th in home runs. Go figure! I guess there are other ways to win baseball games! I guess that might be referred to as smart baseball fundamentals.
-
HELL NO, I wouldn't trust Hahn for any roster retooling! He is about to complete year 6 of the rebuild and how's that going? Besides the poorly constructed roster he built horribly, he also has the 26th ranked farm system. The fact Reinsdorf wouldn't make a change anytime soon, shows us what a total loser owner he really is!
-
Well said and thought out! Sadly this just makes the fandom to follow the Sox even more depressing. Knowing none of this will change until Jerry sells the team, or brings in a brand new young, state of the art modern baseball thinker as the new president to run this organization. A president that would be empowered to clean house in every aspect of this organization from top to bottom, where he could build it up correctly without any interference from the owner on any decision, other than a budget and payroll total.
-
I want new ownership as much as anyone on this site. I have preached this endlessly in numerous posts. However there is one other thing can create change for our demented owner, which is for the fans to stop attending the games and let the team play in front of an near empty ball park. The fans need to stop whining and complaining and put their frustrations into action and make Jerry see it crystal clear on his bottom line profit.

Hiring Mike Chernoff from Cleveland and making him President of Baseball Ops would be a massive HOME RUN and the start of building the White Sox into a championship team and one of the greatest executive moves in White Sox history. Chernoff checks all the boxes. 1. Graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Economics. 2. Played shortstop at Princeton 3. Took an internship with Cleveland, right after graduating from Princeton. As a result, he has risen through the Cleveland organization from the ground floor level performing all type of FO duties. His first job - Intern to Asst. GM - He was responsible for starting the analytics dept. which Cleveland did not have. - Assisted in trade negotiations and arbitration dealings. - Interacted with pro scouts and input their reports into the organization's system - Assisted in just about every major FO activity As a result, was hired and promoted full time in the following roles: - Asst. Director of Baseball Ops - Director of Baseball Ops - Asst. General Manager - General Manager The accomplishments: - Has the youngest baseball team in MLB (Only two players over 30 yrs old) - Promoted 14 rookies to big league roster, #1 most rookies in 2022 - Working with the 27th ranked payroll (66 million) - Produced first place 84-67 W-L division record - Built the #3 ranked farm system It's really simple! You take Chernoff who has performed all the necessary front office critical duties in a winning organization, where they didn't have the money to spend and had to be great at scouting, drafting and developing their prospects in the farm system...and then you let him actually spend serious money, like a team in the #3 largest market should be spending...and you have the start of something BIG! I know Reinsdorf is probably too demented, ignorant and stubborn to see this logic and make this kind of bold move, but this kind of move is so desperately needed. The fact is, this major FO move needs to occur long before you can talk about all your trades, FA signings, arbitration signings, bringing up players from the farm system, etc. Since this loser owner isn't going anywhere until he dies, you need to get this organization FIXED at the TOP and work down! Note to Jerry: this guy would need 100 percent control without you getting at all involved, other than you handing him his total budget and payroll!

How did every team misjudge Kwan and Madrigal so badly?
The Kids Can Play replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is well said and 100 percent correct! I have posted and preached this several times. Not only do the Sox probably not have good scouts, but even if they did have good scouts, the Sox organization's coaching and developing of players is abysmal. It's the teams like the Guardians and Rays, who don't have the payroll to spend, that have to be so much more superior at scouting and more importantly developing their players. Hence why Hahn needs to be fired! Period, Paragraph...End of Story! Somebody needs to educate and advise our idiot owner to recruit an executive from the Rays or Guardians that understands this blueprint to baseball success. -
Can’t Wait to Hear Hahn Lawyer Speak This s%*#
The Kids Can Play replied to hi8is's topic in Pale Hose Talk

It's irrelevant whether they win or lose; they already butchered this season! This team earned the distinction as the #1 most underachieving and disappointing team in baseball. The only thing now that I am rooting for is Hahn to be fired along with Tony and his entre coaching staff. I am also rooting for a major overhaul of this seriously flawed roster. Finally, no matter how improbable or unlikely it is, I want Jerry to let his son run the team or sell it.
-
You're right there. Plus this only trade Hahn made; he screwed up horribly! Since that trade, Diekman has been pure s%*# in 20 games. In his 15 innings he has 18 hits, 9 ER's, 10 BB's, 1.87 Whip and 5.47 ERA. On the flip side, Reese McGuire has played 26 games for Boston. Since joining Boston he hit .385 in August and .421 in September for a .394 BA in 26 games raising his overall BA from .225 to .279. Of course Reese continued to be an excellent and elite defensive catcher for Boston.

2022 Cleveland vs. White Sox - The Defense Rests
The Kids Can Play replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree with you wholeheartedly that none of these four players should ever play outfield again for the Sox. However the key problem to this dilemma is Abreu. If he retires or signs with another team, then it's fairly easy to fix. The fix then is put Vaughn at first 100%, Eloy at DH 100%, Sheets is either sent back to Charlotte as back-up protection, or he is traded, which would make more sense and finally Pollack definitely being traded, no matter how little the Sox get back. On the other hand, If Abreu resigns with the Sox, then you are right back at square one-2022. Yes, you can still DH Eloy, but you still have 3 horrible outfielders in Vaughn, Sheets and Pollack. You were right about one thing in that Eloy's length would ideally be suited for first base. However his lack of coordination and flexibility would be a major injury waiting to happen. I could see Eloy stretching for a long throw from SS and he pulls his hamstring, or fielding a grounder and getting injured. If we ever want to see the huge numbers that Eloy is capable of, he needs to stay healthy and play the majority of the season strictly from DH. -
Jerry and the FO need to quit playing this BS game about the doctors not clearing TLR yet. As Rosenthal said in his open letter to Tony: "But even if doctors cleared you to work again, this no longer is simply a medical question. Not if you are thinking of the best interests of the team." Tony is too stubborn and arrogant to quit. Thus our loser owner needs to stop this nonsense and let Hahn announce Tony is not coming back! For once Jerry, don't be the stupid idiot owner you've always been...and do the right thing!
-
Wow, watching those highlights brings back such amazing memories. Sadly, the Sox haven't had a stud 3rd baseman as good as Crede since 2005.
-
I would. It's only 10 million for '23 and that could help towards a 5th starter.
-
Ruiz should have been DFA a long time ago along with the other loser Velazquez.
-
Totally agree on Abreu but that isn't going to be until the off-season. Absolutely Vaughn at first and Eloy DH in 2023. As far as left handed power, I guess for next year bring up Colas, although I wish they would bring him up now. I realize we have another year tied into Pollack, but maybe we can trade him in some package in the off-season. I really don't want to see him in 2023 on this roster.
