Whatever stretching the team is doing is obviously not effective. Here is a good article on proper groin stretches: "Running Tips You Should Know: Dynamic and Static Groin Stretches" https://www.healthline.com/health/exercise-fitness/essential-groin-stretches After you read these comprehensive techniques, you seriously have to question if our Sox players are doing this much proactive stretching! I am not claiming these are the absolute only ways or techniques...maybe there are other more modern techniques. However something has to change. Our players have suffered way too many hamstring and groin pulls and tears in the last two seasons.

Ozzie would be a huge upgrade right now. Whether anyone here loves or hates Ozzie, the one thing nobody can deny is the fact he has passion and energy. He would be cheering and motivating these players, which TLR is not capable of.
-
I've noticed that too, but as we all know, Abreu is the toughest player on this team and maybe in MLB...so he just plays on. However he should be at DH more often. We have plenty of backup at first with Vaughn and Sheets.
-
If you can find buyers for Moncada, Grandal, Pollack, then go for it...no matter what they bring back! Abreu, Lynn, Sheets and Hendricks should bring a good haul of prospects. I would not touch Kopech, Cease, Giolito, Robert, Vaughn, Burger, Eloy and Anderson. I know Giolito is a FA in 2024, but Hahn needs to get a deal done prior to then. Many people here assume Giolito is gone when he is FA. I don't think that's the case. You can see he loves playing here and being with his teammates. Getting rid of Giolito would be a huge mistake. Go check the starting pitchers down in the minors before you give away an all star starting pitcher. It's really ugly down in AA and AAA relative to pitching! As Teddy KGB in the movie "Rounders" said, "Pay him...Pay that man his money!" As far as Eloy goes, he has been injured way too often to get any value for him. The best thing is to keep him, get him in far better physical condition and hope he can be the player from 2019.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

Exciting win and we'll take it, but still problems. Such a shame they couldn't give those runs early for Cease and then he walks away with an impressive win. -
Do the White Sox Make the Playoffs?
The Kids Can Play replied to SoxBlanco's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes, but only if Hahn makes some more huge changes on offense. He needs to DFA Harrison, McGuire and bring up Yolbert and Perez. Depending how serious TA's injury is and how long he'll be out, I might give Sosa a call up too. Our pitching is strong enough to get us into the playoffs, but not without some major improved offense. The defense also needs to clean up their mistakes! -
I like this idea a lot, especially with Yolbert being 25 yrs old. The key are those three DFA's that would send a major message to the team and fans. Let the young hungry kids have their shot! Perez will not do any worse than McGuire. Yolbert will not do any worse than Harrison. Sosa would be better than Mendick or Leury. Let's at least find out.

They are doing nothing! It's not only the training staff, but the coaches not making sure they are stretching often throughout the game and properly. Why aren't the players stretching in the dugout before they going on the field or before their next at bat? Just because they stretch before the game, doesn't mean they are done stretching for the game. Why aren't the players working harder at being more proactive and preventive in their stretching, knowing how injury plagued this team has been? Hamstring and groins should not be happening as often as they occur on this Sox team.

Yes he really is that bad! He is only here because Reinsdorf, another demented and even older loser, made a colossal mistake in hiring him. Do you really think TLR would have been hired, if it was up to Hahn and JR wouldn't interfere in the decision? As long as TLR is here, I will be super critical of him for his horrible managing. I can't believe you don't see how weak he is mentally and physically. Go on You Tube and find a post conference interview back from the St Louis days and see the difference in his speech articulation and basic communication skills. Someone on this board mentioned this in a post. I actually did go back and checked out older YT videos on him compared to today and it's frightening how much he has aged. TLR still doesn't know how to put a proper lineup together. There have been 46 different lineups in the first 46 games. He still doesn't know how to use the bullpen properly. We see right in front of our eyes the life being sucked right out of this team! I know for awhile there were some people here defending TLR. Yet 1.5 years into this derailed rebuild trial to a WS win, I didn't think there were any TLR supporters left. Plus seeing how the Sox hitting is pathetic and the fielding is horrible...that is on him. The hitting coach that TLR brought in is a complete joke. He obviously hasn't been working with our hitters, since they haven't made any adjustments and still producing lackluster offensive numbers. The Sox still don't take enough pitches and work the count to get a hitter's count. We swing at first pitches way too often and rarely take walks. I get TLR isn't going to be fired this year. However that doesn't change the fact he still sucks as manager.
-
Yes very telling! Might just show a little to the fans and players that the owner/front office actually give a shit! Hopefully more of these big moves in the future!
-
As the old adage goes, they might be dumb, but they're not stupid! Although I don't see anyone picking Keuchel up, I'm sure there could be a team GM dumb enough to think he can change him. Good riddance Dallas and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out!
-
On the count of three...HIP HIP HOORAY!
-
We don't need Mendick. He is a slug and nothing close to a major league player. Maybe it's time for Yolbert Sanchez.
-
Those are valid reasons. But the Sox need to fix it. However you explain or rationalize the current state of affairs in the minors; we are screwed for the future, unless big changes occur in how we are drafting, signing and developing talent in the minors. The fact is Shirley and Paddy need to be on the same page. They both should be able to go after both older and younger talent. Shirley should still go get 3rd year collage players and not just young high school talent. It worked for Chris Sale, Vaughn and TA. Yet Shirley needs to still make sure we get young high school potential stars. There needs to be a good mix! The same goes for Paddy. He can go score on Abreu, Robert, Colas etc., but he still needs to get the young international teenagers signed. This direction needs to come from Hahn. You also can't convince me there is a lack of quality coaches at the minor league level. Not all successful MLB teams hit successfully on every draft pick or intl signing. Maybe some of those winning MLB teams have the right solid coaches who can develop their talent and improve on their player weaknesses. As far as the Sox being categorized as a big market team when in reality they are a small market team with less resources is 100 percent correct and a huge problem! However it's absurd the Sox organization conducts business this way. It's only because we have a demented and ignorant cheap owner. It's ridiculous that a small market team like San Diego has a much higher payroll than the Sox.

This White Sox team is indefensible at this point.

This is what you call a Rebuild gone derailed! -
I'm not sure where to post this in the forums, but I will put it here. I've been noticing both Charlotte in AAA and the Birmingham in AA are having terrible seasons. The biggest glaring concern is the horrific pitching from both levels. Charlotte Knights - Intl League - 20 teams W-L Record - 16-30 - Last place Team Pitching Stats ERA 6.02 - 20th Hits per/inn 1.05 - 20th HR's 84 - 20th WHIP 1.54 - 17th BA .287 - 20th Birmingham Barons - Southern League - 8 teams W-L Record - 15-28 - Last place Team Pitching Stats ERA 5.98 - 8th Hits per/inn 1.14 - 8th HR's 62 - 8th WHIP 1.66 - 8th BA .287 - 8th Evidently there are some really good hitters at these two levels, but the pitching seems to be god awful! I guess my concerns or questions are why are we so weak at these two levels? 1. Has Hahn taken his eye off the minors, concentrating too much on the rebuild at the major league level? 2. Is the Director of Scouting Mike Shirley over his head and a change is needed? 3. Is Chris Getz, the Asst to GM and Player Development Director over his head and a change is needed? 4. Are the pitching coaches in the minors weak and guilty of not developing the talent that the FO drafted or signed? 5. Are the Sox Scouts weak and incompetent? Do they have the knowledge and the Sox FO blueprint for the type of pitchers the scouts need to look for and recommend to be drafted? Btw, keep in mind the Cease, Giolito, Lynn and Kopech were not drafted by the Sox. The other successful MLB teams like the Yankees, Rays and Dodgers to name a few, all are winning at the MLB level, but also have successful minor league organizations. There is a huge problem in our minors, when MLB recently released their updated top 100 prospects, and the Sox did not have one single player on it.

The Cubs-Sox series doesn't carry the same excitement as it did many years ago. Frankly I actually hate this series; especially this weekend 44 games in. The Cubs suck and are going nowhere and early in their rebuild. However on the other hand, we are a much better team, now 5.5 years into our rebuild, which had a few unfortunate detours. The Cubs come into Sox park with zero pressure, everything to gain and nothing to lose. Having said that, I pray the Sox crush the Cubs both games!
-
Yep and they did that in a small market. The answer to your question, which at this point is obviously a rhetorical one; they have an owner who passionately cares, mentally coherent and wants to win. Whereas we have an owner who is...well, never mind, we all know the answers!
-
I would take Showalter over TLR in a heartbeat. Buck is still sharp and always was! He would have done a great job here. Unfortunately not all humans age the same way. The manner in which TLR speaks to the media and having problems making complete coherent sentences is painful to watch! The way he slowly moves about or hides while sitting in the corner of the dugout, is clearly a sign he is mentally and physically hampered. Sadly for the players, he is not capable of being that energetic, sharp, strategic and motivational manager for the players; that these players so desperately need direction and leadership from. It is so frustrating that TLR is too stubborn and delusional to admit these facts and do the right thing and step down. His demented buddy Reinsdorf, who is also stubborn and ignorant, won't admit his colossal hiring mistake and put a stop to this managerial circus! Sadly for all of us diehard Sox fans, this will never change until JR passes away, sells the team or becomes too mentally wasted away with his dementia to run the team anymore.

Kelly to IL (strained hamstring - out a monthish); Banks up
The Kids Can Play replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Another hamstring, wow, shocking! WTF! With all these hamstring injuries the last few years, why in the hell can't these players learn to properly stretch? This is simply insane! If the Sox coaches and trainers can't effectively teach them, then these players who make ridiculous money, can afford to hire their own expert trainer to assist in their knowledge and execution of proper strength training and stretching techniques. -
That why they call this a forum, which is fandom, which is fans being allowed to give their opinions whether right or wrong. The fact is, we love this Sox team so passionately that sometimes when we see the direction of the team going seriously sideways, we will post heated and passionate remarks. I got news for you though. Go check out any other similar MLB forum and I assure you they question the same trades, signings, player productions and management decisions.
-
I wasn't delusional. A lot of posters on this board besides me, were hoping Hahn would make more solid signings. I was hoping our owner wasn't that demented and ignorant. I knew JR was a bad owner but I was hoping he wanted to win another title and maybe help Hahn a little more with flexibility on the payroll. The bottom line is JR has done nothing to help this golden window of opportunity to win a WS title.

Donaldson apologies to Robinson, "understanding" with TA
The Kids Can Play replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Donaldson is a classic POS! Oakland Athletics (2010, 2012–2014) Toronto Blue Jays (2015–2018) Cleveland Indians (2018) Atlanta Braves (2019) Minnesota Twins (2020–2021) New York Yankees (2022–present) There is an obvious reason he has played on 6 teams in 12 years. His teammates hate him and Judge and Boone threw him under the bus! The disturbing BS apology is to the Robinson family when he said, “I would also like to apologize to Mrs. Rachel Robinson and the Jackie Robinson family for any distress the incident may have caused. Jackie was a true American hero and I hold his name in the highest regard.” This was a complete disingenuous and BS quote. If a player truly held Jackie Robinson as an American hero and his name in the highest regard, then a real player would never use "Hey Jackie to TA" which was such a sarcastic racist remark. -
Bingo! Additionally when JR did not allow Hahn to spend more money in the offseason, regardless of where our salary total was at...and go get a top FA at 2B, SP or two and RF!
-
Screw the pride crap! He is hurting the team. He needs a DFA today and just eat his damn salary. If JR doesn't want to eat the money, which is stupidity, then he needs to be solely in the bullpen and let VV back in the rotation. Starts - 8 Innings 32 ERA - 7.88 WHIP 2.16 ER's - 28 BB's - 20 Hits - 49 The true definition of Insanity is to keep throwing Keuchel out every 5 games and think the above stats will produce a different outcome! That is delusional and insane!
