  1. HaHa, I assume this is your lame attempt at sarcastic humor! ? Actually the really bet tonight is with the over at 9 runs at -114. The Sox average 3.65 runs per game. If the Sox get 3 runs and the Yankees 7, or if the Sox get 4 runs and the Yankees get 6! Winner winner, chicken dinner! Remember gang, Keuchel is pitching!
  2. Robert and Vaughn should be hitting in front of Abreu! This is not time for blind loyalty. He has been a great and loyal white Sox star for many years, giving us a ton of enjoyment and huge results. However it's time to move on and get prospects at trade deadline. We have depth at first base and will be fine.
  3. No shit! In the month of May: Abreu is 8-42 .190 BA - 1 HR and Grandal is 5-33 .152 BA - 0 HR's. In BABIP, Abrue has a career .322 BIBIP and .233 this season! Grandal career .BABIP of .275 vs. this season at .195 BABIP!
  4. I totally agree with you. Jose has been great for the Sox over the years. He will undoubtedly go down in Sox history as one of the best. However this is 2022 and Jose is 35 years old and you can see the hitting skills and timing are not the same anymore. Jose has a career BABIP of .322. This season he is at his 9 year career low in BABIP at .233. He is also at career lows in almost every other hitting stat. He is 0-15 in the last three games and 8-42 (.190) in 9 games in the month of May, with one home run and 2 doubles. The fact is he will be 36 years old next season and maybe it's time to be realistic that we might have gotten the best of Jose and it's time to move on...as painful as that is to say and comprehend. We are deep at first base with Sheets and Vaughn! It's time to get some prospects for him at trade deadline, before we lose him as a free agent in 2023 with nothing.
  5. That a very good point! Then again, why doesn't Eloy have his own self starter motivation to get in the best shape weight wise possible!
  6. The second real question is, are the Sox strength/training/conditioning/medical staff finally going to be serious and teach Eloy how to properly stretch and maintain his body flexibility and strength to stay healthy!
  7. The Yankees offense is obviously superior to ours right now. Hopefully that will change when we are at full strength down the road. More importantly, the Yankees are 2nd in MLB in pitching at 2.60 ERA and #1 in least errors 9 to our 26, which is last in errors per game. Other than Kuechel, I am confident Cease and Kopech can step up for the challenge. The concern is our offense which needs to start producing! In the month of May thus far, two key leaders Abreu are 8-37/.216 and 1 home run and Grandal, 5-30/.167 with 0 doubles, 0 home runs and 0 RBI's. This is a huge problem when you consider they are the top two salaries on the Sox. Finally the bullpen needs to be strong and consistent with no more imploding and giving up leads? I hope the Sox are ready to step up to this major challenge and not embarrass themselves.
  8. I have always been a huge Hahn fan and if VV is still solid at the end of the year, I will totally give credit to Hahn. However Katz is the man making this happen. If you look at VV's lifetime ERA of nearly 5.00 before coming here, along with his first few Sox starts, you will clearly see this is mostly due to Katz. Btw, don't go too crazy with the Hahn credit on bringing in Katz. That credit goes more to Giolito. Yet I do agree Hahn gets a lot of credit for being smart enough to listen to Giolito.
  9. Trust me I will credit Hahn too. I have always been a huge Hahn supporter and never criticized Hahn on this board. I just think on paper the signing wasn't that great when you look at Velasquez's lifetime numbers. Hahn has made some unbelievable trades and signings, but this one is more about Katz than Hahn.
  10. Apple TV sucks and not just because of the streaming flaws. The broadcasting crew of Melanie Newman & Chris Young were boring and pathetic. Sadly we have one more Apple game later this season. It will be refreshing to hear Benetti and Stone today. Cease today against Pivetta 0-4/7.84. The Sox bats need to light him up! Let's make it 5 in a row! Don't Stop Now Boys!
  11. I would love that to happen and if it does, I will admit I was wrong about VV. However let's be clear here, this is actually more about Katz fixing VV and Katz should be thanked.
  12. This should be interesting since the White Sox pitching staff is 29th in most walks per 9 innings at 4.29. The Red Sox are 22nd at 3.50.
  13. Agreed Katz needs to fix him. I also think until he gets his confidence and his dominant slider/sinker back, he needs to be in less high leverage situations. Foster and Banks have been pitching great and deserve to be in more high leverage late inning situations than Bummer. Until the better weather comes, when evidently he gets his stuff back, we cant afford to have him lose games for us.
  14. Sadly I did. I also noticed that AJ Pollack's slash line in 12 games and 42 AB's is: .190/.205/.238/.443 with 0 HR's. I know he isn't the only one struggling, but he looks really lost and uncomfortable on every at bat.
  15. My apology and my bad as it was mistakenly posted twice. It wasn't against you so much, as I was just me responding to the post and why I thought it wouldn't happen. The first post was a mistake.
  16. Hell no. One of the major priorities in the off season for both pre and post lockout was to get a top level 2nd baseman and the Sox failed to do that. Cano is 39 year old washed up 2nd baseman and is not the answer. There is a reason the Mets owner, who has the 2nd highest payroll in MLB and isn't afraid to spend money, is eating 44 million. Even if we got him at the league minimum, he would be wasted money. More importantly, he would be taking a roster spot away from a younger player who would be sent down. We are already suck with Harrison and Garcia. Additionally we also have Yolbert Sanchez in the minors who killed it at Birmingham and is now killing it at Charlotte.
  17. Great win considering the horrific weather conditions. It's always so satisfying to beat the Cubs! Other than Ruiz, the bullpen once again looked really good. If Ruiz would have done his job, the Sox could have had their 3rd shutout in their last four games. The Offense is still struggling and the bats need to come alive. However it might help if the three veterans Grandal (.162), Pollack (.184), and Abreu (.215) who make $18,250 mil, $14,500 mil and $19,666 mil, start earning their money! Especially since those three salaries represent 27% of the team payroll.
  18. YES, it is time! DFA him now! He is over the hill! In today's game of mid to upper 90 mph pitchers, Keuchel is obsolete with his mid to upper 80's pitches that have little or no movement. Whether JR releases him now or keeps him, the fact is JR is paying him 18 million. However, he might as well send a positive message to the team, that his horrible pitching will not be tolerated any longer. As it has been stated numerous times in this post, we have better options every 5th game. The facts are in Kuechel's four starts, he has 15 innings, 24 hits, 14 ER, 11 BB, 2.33 WHIP and 8.40 ERA. Sending him out any further to gain/eat innings, to even remotely let him try to get to 160 innings this season and earn that 20 million (player opt/guaranteed) salary for 2023, is the pure definition of Insanity! As it has been said here several times, the precedent is set. In 2016 the 15.75 million that JR absorbed for John Danks, is just as bad, if not slightly higher than the 18 million in 2022 inflation standards.
  19. The bats need to start coming alive and pound the Cubs both games. Kopech needs to follow suit like Cease and have his best start yet.
  20. Cease picked the perfect time to have his best career start. He just showed everyone he could possibly be the #1 ace on the staff down the road. Graveman showed he is the 8th inning set up guy and that might have been Hendrick's best save in a Sox uniform. Now Kopech needs to follow suit tonight and have his best career start.
  21. What it means is the Sox are currently 30th in MLB in walks. They are impatient and do not see enough pitches. They only had 3 walks yesterday and two of them were by Grandal who is the only guy on the team who actually does take a lot of pitches and gets a lot of walks. My remark was based more on the Jay Cuda's Twitter stat of the Sox being 30th in 2-0 and 3-0 counts in MLB which are the hitter counts. This is directly correlated to why the Sox are 25th in BA at .218.
  22. Which proves why in yesterday's game against KC, the Royals had 8 walks to the Sox one walk. The Royals took 193 pitches in 10 innings to the Sox taking 132 pitches in 10 innings.
  23. Ok agreed, putting players out of position is not a good idea. What makes more sense and this was discussed earlier on this board, is put Moncada at 2nd when he comes back and keep Burger at 3rd. That is a position Moncada played for us and the position the Sox expected him to play when they traded for him in the Chris Sale trade. Moncada isn't going to be that much worse than Garcia at 2nd defensively, but a ton better offensively that Garcia.
  24. I think Lambert is a hell of a better option than Kuechel. We don't know about Cueto but hopefully he can replace Keuchel once Lynn is back. I totally disagree with you on Keuchel lasting until late May. If he has a few more horrible outings he is not making it until late May. Plus, shame on Keuchel for not developing another pitch in the off season that could be effective to continue his career.
