Five words.....Terry Francona not Tony LaRussa.
-
He's cleared to travel for the ceremony for Stewart tomorrow. He's not yet cleared to manage. The perfect "cover" is for him to attend the ceremony and then (citing unexpected fatigue) announce he's heading back to Arizona for further tests. He stays in Arizona for another week before they announce the joint decision of he and his doctors to stay at home through the end of the season. Hey......a kid can dream.

"Nearing"?!? He has been full diva for some time now. It feels like he recognized that he had to play with a little attitude back in 2019. The pendulum swung way past equilibrium and he is full diva right now. Maybe sitting and seeing the team win without him will be a little wake up call. -

Serious question; did Bummer even have a rehab stint? -

Considering he's got all 12 of his homers at home, I'm not optimistic. -
Three teams within 2 games of the lead. The team that will determine the winner is...... the Royals. Yup, we all have to become Royals fans the rest of the way. They play Cleveland 8 more times, including a 6 game series at home to end the season! Nice gift for Cleveland. The Royals also play Minny 6 more times. If the Royals show up and play, we have a chance. If they roll over and show their belly (which is FAR more likely as they tank for better draft position), we're screwed. That said, we did this to ourselves. We threw away 10 games to those bums. We have to take care of our own business, but in the end losing the season series to a team that will likely finish 30 games under .500 will come back to haunt us.

It's painful watching him run. His knees are shot. -

Rumor: White Sox might be for sale
PitchatRisktoZisk replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As long a he is alive, he will never sell. He's on record that will never happen. I wish people would stop teasing us with these stories. JR thinks $1 paid to the government is $1 too much. He will NEVER pay the tax on the sale of the team. He'll leave it to one of his kids and let them pay the estate taxes. -

Kerosene Kelly as the opener. F'ing brilliant. I guess Tony still calling the shots. -
If this is the end of Tony's managerial career, I wish him good health and more years of retirement in Arizona nowhere near the White Sox. If this is the end, an extensive and legit search better take place. AJ would be a train wreck. No experience and likely a bad fit for the Latin players. My choice was/is Sandy Alomar Jr. Great background and learned under Tito.

If I had a nickel for every shutdown inning we gave up runs I'd have enough $'s to buy this team. -

Gavin the lawn dart. Sigh, not his fault they're playing a 1B in Right. Yeesh. -
I hope he's ok, I truly do. As a person not that much younger than Tony, they don't have to make up medical issues. They can pick any one of a dozen maladies that impact us "seasoned citizens". Just pick one and allow him a gracious exit.

Valid point. And why is it that we had to replace those players with Elvis, Leury and Adam? Because Hahn didn't do ANYTHING to improve this team since the 2020 off-season. Last year's trade deadline weakened the team. Nothing was done in the off-season to improve (I know we signed Ceuto, but that only came as an emergency move when Lynn got hurt. VV was Hahn's choice and he gave him a ML contract.) This trade deadline was nothing because Hahn gave away any valid trade pieces the last 2 years and our minor league system was at the bottom of baseball.

It doesn't matter. Jerry will blame it on injuries and the only one to get fired will be a clubhouse attendant. And the only reason he'll get fired is because he threw out a roll of tape that still had 3/4" of useful tape left. This organization is the epitome of Bush League.

I'm not sure what's more pathetic; this team or that I am still watching this garbage. The utter depression for me is that no matter how much we suck and lose games, JR will bring back this stiff and blame injuries for the performance. -
I thought mine was too.

Ummmm, isn't that what a hitting coach and a HOFBP are paid to fix?

He's an arrogant, egotistical, narcissist. He thinks he is the smartest guy in the room and we are mere peasants. He could not care less what we think or say. If he EVER steps down it will be because "today's players are just uncoachable", not because the game has passed him by and he is the laughingstock of baseball. That's just my opinion.....I could be wrong.
