  1. Maybe the more appropriate response from me would have been to declare that I am not going to take that.
  2. Honestly, what would he have to lose by calling it straight? Fake enthusiasm isn’t genuine. Sox fans, above all else, just want something real. Let your personality show, but don’t force it. Hawk was real (until recently, anyways). Benetti was real. Schriff feels forced and manufactured. If he toned it down by like 10,000 and just delivered the game, he’d be fine. Just quit with that manufactured enthusiasm and stay invisible like a true Milford man.
  3. I couldn’t quite capture the spirit of my intended cynicism.
  4. See? If they could just hold onto leads, they’d be 36-25. Just keep the other team from scoring. Problem solved!
  5. Could be like John Scott a few years ago in the NHL. ...but without the heartwarming part.
  6. Sorry - his OPS is now .244. That puts his OPS tied for 88th with Jesse Winker's batting average
  7. Maldonado's OPS of .247 is lower than the ISO of 14 qualified hitters. His OPS of .247 is lower than the batting average of 82 qualified hitters (there are currently 155 qualified hitters). That means that his OPS would be considered a below-average batting average.
  8. I feel like this streak is the Bizzaro version of that scene in Moneyball where the A's go on that 20-game winning streak, and Billy Beane is all vindicated lifting weights and driving his car by himself while the crowd goes nuts.
  9. He's getting closer to the end of his contract, albeit slowly. So we've got that going for us
  10. Good for him. Sweet name, to boot. Would love to hear the Bull Durham announcer talk about him.
  11. I'm a Pham fan. It's nice to have someone with a track record of calling a spade a spade, or at least not coat said spade in bullshit.
  12. They develop them using a cohesive strategy and framework that carries over from level to level. Look at systems like the Dodgers, Guardians, and Braves. Historically, the Sox just shuttle guys and leave it up to the individual affiliate’s staff to give instruction as they see fit.
  13. Pham may well have been justified in his response, but what say you about our broadcaster?
  14. Yeah, that call was cringeworthy. That’s what I would expect out of a high school kid on a student webcast.
  15. …yes. I am married, so I understand this….
  16. Some of the jokes (mostly centered around Tobias) wouldn’t be accepted today, but season 3 of that show was the absolute pinnacle of comedy IMO
  17. I have noticed different behavior with posts using mobile vs. desktop
  18. This is the type of organization that would pour far more analytical resources into something like maximizing fan engagement with minimal expense than they would spend on player evaluation and on-field products.
  19. Thanks for explaining and not making me type out the explanation in my 4800 dollar suit.
