  1. As horrible as this team and season are, what keeps me coming back is the bond that I’ve forever formed with my dad over our shared love for and agony over the Sox. It all started with me when I was about a month old at old Comiskey, and I hope this is the start of a wonderful series of memories for you guys as well.
  2. They’re an offensive team for sure.
  3. Seems like the Cubs have some semblance of an idea of what they're doing, at least relatively speaking. Also, Connor Bedard.
  4. Correct. I erred in my game thread creation yesterday, and I haven't bothered to correct it. If I were a rookie, I'd be banished to the Charlotte Knights forum.
  5. Maybe, so why not in AAA where he has a better chance at seeing if he's figured something out (rather than just being straight up overmatched)? Maybe they think it's best to save some payroll and give him a dozen games in AAA, then call him back up to give him a chance to prove he learned something. Maybe it's just stupidity. Maybe they want him to have a chance to develop away from the idiocy and complacency of the "established" veteran teammates. Your guess is as good as mine.
  6. Well the big league teams and scouts have clearly figured out a few things about him. Maybe they're thinking that those adjustments that opposing teams are making will trickle down to AAA, so it'll give him a chance to work on something he's been exploited for, all in an environment in which they know he can succeed? Trying to put a "player development approach" hat on here....
  7. Might as well put the important things in the gamethread title. Italian Beef vs. Burnt Ends is today's matchup. Discuss
  8. One confounding factor for me and my search for food is having gone vegan a few years ago. Not vegan for long enough that I don’t remember what non-vegan stuff is like, but finding new restaurants is always a little difficult.
  9. Negative. there is supposedly a really good authentic place in suburban Detroit, but I have not been yet: https://www.brava-empanadas.com
  10. Food ideas? What about soul food? Salvadorean? Pupusas are always a favorite.
  11. 4-5 pound beef roast 1 large onion, coarsely chopped 1 jar of giardiniera in vinegar 1 jar pepperocini peppers 1 packet zesty italian dressing mix 2 beef bouillon cubes 10 or so cloves of garlic (whole) Water (or stock) to cover 80-90% of the ingredients ”seal” the beef by lightly browning the roast on all sides dump everything in a slow cooker. Use enough fluid to cover 80-90% of the roast. Use the liquids from the jars as well. cook on low overnight or about 18 hours
  12. I think this should be a new game thread theme. let’s talk about food.
  13. Most. Kind of like how the Sox are trash, but they're still better than most minor league teams. They're more expensive, though.
  14. Fair enough. Personally Vito & Nick's on Pulaski is my favorite non-Neapolitan pizza in the world. I just wanted to make sure Detroit wasn't being punished for giving the world Little Caesar's. I can't even call that s%*# "pizza."
  15. 1. Thank you for listing Tavern Cut as the representative Chicago pizza. 2. If you haven't already, please consider Buddy's Pizza before judging. Or Grandma Bob's (in Corktown near old Tiger Stadium).
  16. ....so will he be penciled in as the #2 or #3 starter to open 2024, then?
  17. "quickly" is the answer we were looking for.
  18. Shouldn't he know? I mean, in theory, he was in charge of that sort of thing, at least up through the minors.
