  1. I see it more as a "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" strategy to keep negative comments about the team private. I certainly don't fault him for THAT.
  2. “It’s important to provide stability for our players” Really? THAT is the takeaway, Chris? What is it about this team, the effort you see, the body language they show… what is it about them that led you to THIS conclusion? They need a shakeup and actions that clearly communicate that accountability is first and foremost. If you aren’t pulling your weight and holding each other (as players) accountable, then management will hold you accountable.
  3. They can’t even suck properly.
  4. Good thing JR removed the dude in charge of player development from THAT position.
  5. True, though that was also a bit of a weird circumstance with COVID, injury (2019), and lockout.
  6. …so the organizational failure in Kopech’s case was a broader failure in failing to develop a pipeline of starters
  7. TINSSAAPP There Is No Such Thing As a Pitching Prospect. Not that i agree with that sentiment, but then fact is that arms fade, and you’re far less likely to have continued success as a starting pitcher as opposed to basically any other position. Kopech may just be an arm that fades (loses velocity) that belongs in the ‘pen, or a headcase that needs to be cut loose. Either way, I’m chalking him up as a failed starter that we need to move on from. These things just happen.
  8. Tigers players pretty pumped up after that DP. when’s the last time you saw that out of our guys?
  9. A lot of people dressed as green seats today
  10. RR was the right guy to teach the young'ins how to play hard at the big league level. He seemed to hold players accountable, and guys played hard for him. Under TLR it was a fucking shitshow, unless you dared swing full-on off of a position player with a 3-0 count late in an unreachable game. THEN the life lessons would come out, publicly.
  11. Yes! I can see all the championships from this window. Nice, clear view of the Dodgers, Braves, . . . .
  12. "Mediocre" to me is sub-.500. .500 would qualify as "average" or "okay" or "competent." All a notch above "mediocre."
  13. That's what we thought with AJ Pollock....
  14. Or the Twins. or the Guardians.
  15. I will assert all day long that Renteria would have led the team to a stronger 2021 than TLR. I'm not sure there is anything that could change my mind on that.
  16. Does that reset? I thought that went away (and stayed with the player) once he was traded.
  17. I wonder how common this sentiment is: https://www.cleveland.com/tribe/2019/03/ichiro-once-said-hed-punch-himself-in-the-face-if-he-ever-lied-about-wanting-to-go-to-cleveland.html
  18. From the press release: Also from the press release: These two quotes remind me of my favorite Gilmore Girls quote of all time: (note: how many times can you all recall someone quoting Gilmore Girls on this board... in context?)
  19. Maybe instead of "kind of," the better choice of words would have been "almost." There's a 99% chance that he's now peaked professionally. Starting today, he's going to be on a downward trajectory. Of course, he's now gone further than 99% of the rest of baseball in terms of front-office roles... but these next few years are going to be rough for him. Again, I ALMOST (edited from "kind of") feel bad for him.
  20. Yeah I kind of feel bad for Getz. Unless he is able to somehow overcome the organizational ineptitude, he's 100% set up to fail. That said.... go Brewers?
