  1. During the one sell-off, yes. Went from basically worst to first in well-stocked farm system. Loaded up with talent - Giolito, Dunning, Lopez, Moncada, Eloy, Cease. What the org has done under his watch since he made those trades is awful.
  2. Step 1: sell all assets, including Cease. Stock up the farm system. Hahn has at least shown some level of competence in this area. Step 2: fire Hahn and the entire FO. Step 3: hire someone competent to replace KW. Step 4: have that someone competetent hire a competent GM.
  3. My main and consistent beef with this org is the complete lack of emphasis on player development. Prior to Project Birmingham last year (note - is that still even a thing?) I've never once seen any evidence of the organization drafting, fostering, and growing talent in a way that grooms players to make the most of their skills and improves on their weaknesses to a point where they can't be consistently exploited (I'm looking at you, slider-chasers... aka our entire fucking lineup). I don't know if it's an edict on JR's part NOT to put resources into minor leagues. I don't know if it's Hahn's decision to direct resources away from the minor leagues / player development budget... or if it's Hahn's lack of foresight to develop and execute a cohesive player development strategy. Fact is, we can sit here and cry foul about payroll caps, but we can also point to teams like Oakland, Tampa, Cleveland, and Minny who consistently churn out quality players who they can sell at peak value to restock their farm system. Yes - JR is a shitty owner, but, unless there's some top-down edict saying that no player development should take place, Hahn has clearly shown that he's just a s%*# GM who doesn't know how to build a winning team. I will argue up and down that he inherited a s%*# team / s%*# core / s%*# farm system and that any sensible GM would have had to rebuild when he did, but what he's shown since the 2021 trade deadlines (note: I was in favor of the Kimbrel trade that turned out horrendous) is that he is in over his head. ...and if JR IS hamstringing him on the farm system? It's the job of executives to manage upwards and convince those above them that a change in strategy is needed. Hahn has clearly failed at that, too.
  4. Thanks. Just making sure I wasn’t crazy for having not seen a big league player do that this millennium besides that Rizzo clip.
  5. If I am Hahn, everyone on the 26-man roster is up for grabs for prospects.
  6. I stand corrected. How frequently is that done this day and age, do you think?
  7. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any hitter do that since high school.
  8. “This Bumgarner deal could pay dividends”
  9. That is the modern game though. Hitters work counts and go deeper into each at bat. Couple that with max effort pitching that is emphasized now, and you get quicker hooks. That even further underscores the failure of this bullpen.
  10. That maybe rang true like 30 years ago. Minor league systems are supposed to take care of plate approach and such. It’s an organizational responsibility to take talent and make it translate to big league success. We’ve taken talent and pissed it away.
  11. Wait on that. Keep your eyes peeled for a “White Sox bullpen relief fund” on gofundme from user “Not Rick Hahn”
  12. ___ expected back by this weekend. ___ can't stay healthy. Yet another Moncada thread.
  13. ...obviously my above post is an oversimplification, but my key point is this: Jake Burger playing 2B should be considered a "break glass in case of emergency because the actual emergency backup 2Bman got stuck in traffic on the way to the ballpark from the airport where his plane from Charlotte just landed, and Dylan Cease is on the mound so he can't play the field so you're it, Jake" option.
  14. I've always been under the impression that you have your best infielder at SS, then your second best at 2B. At 3B you just need to have good hands / a quick first jump (but not necessarily as much range as 2B / SS) and a strong arm. At 1B you need a good bat.
  15. Where did this idea that 2B is easier come from?
  16. What threads do you foresee being created throughout the 2023 season?
  17. Did I miss something? Or is this just an aspirational thread?
  18. I don't think anyone is arguing against the fact that Herm Schneider played a key role in the health of the players.
  19. If we can find takers, I'd dump Diekman in a heartbeat. "Hey - looking for a bullpen arm who can make any game an 8-inning game? Yeah - bring this guy, and BOOM. Game over"
  20. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Quentin is not viewed as being made of glass…. Or at least that is how I am interpreting it.
