  1. I have to laugh at Quentin being on this list.
  2. To me the biggest issue is player development. no organization is going to develop perfect players, but they can develop players who will consistently fit into their big league roster and be serviceable. this organization seems to just draft talent and hope it all works out after a few minor league seasons. Players are consistently coming up with the same defects they were drafted with. Yeah, they’re professionals and ultimately responsible for their own development, but if other organizations have a conprehensive strategy (like Cleveland, Minnesota, Tampa, etc.), you end up making the most of your league-minimum players.

  4. The security guard must've pulled his groin on his way to breaking up the fight.
  5. Interesting. Almost like the players were trained behave a certain way while learning how to play professional baseball.

  7. Does the 3 batter minimum count if your team straight up releases the pitcher after facing 1 batter? Or does that transaction have to wait until the pitcher is out of the game?
  8. ...and remember he's also just in it for the money since he signed his big contract. I need to keep track of these.
  9. Not gonna lie - in 2020 I was hoping for a walk-off 2-run home run to lead off the bottom of the 8th inning. Now I'd settle for that in the 10th. I'm pretty "meh" on the extra innings runner rule. I could see an argument to be made for waiting until the 12th inning to do it, for example, but overall, "meh."
  10. Somewhere else in an office at 333 W. 35th Street: "We only need to pay a prorated league minimum!"
  11. See: my response above. On a comedic level, it would be fun to see league-sanctioned 1 on 1's like in hockey (note: I'm actually a proponent of banning fighting in hockey). Just imagine something like Oneil Cruz vs. Lance Lynn, with someone like Joe West trying to break it up.
  12. This, plus a "third man in" rule. I'm guessing that, for example, if it's just a batter vs. pitcher, the batter ends up potentially with the catcher + the full infield to deal with in close proximity. If you have a "third man in" type of rule, you remove the need to "support" anyone. Not sure how you do it without officially sanctioning fighting, but I basically agree with you. It's beyond ridiculous to have the bullpens and benches empty every f'ing time.
  13. Maybe it's just knowing he's a 1-inning arm this year, instead of last year where he was GENERALLY a 1-inning guy but had more of a "swingman" role, especially early on.
  14. It's April. The weather may be warmer in Houston, but it's still April. I've learned not to judge Abreu until July.
  15. Jimmy had some jump on that high heat.
  16. Worst case, if you want to get the lead runner, just walk to 3rd....
  17. Anyone else see "Kenta Maeda" and start singing "Guantanamera?"
  18. Let's look at the positives: Joe Kelly isn't on the active roster.
  19. I mean, yeah - that's kind of the sentiment, but it's not unreasonable for Santana to stand up for his teammate.
  20. Yeah, though you can argue Santana has a right to stand up for his young teammate there, right or wrong. It would be pretty shitty of Santana to let Seby keep yelling at the kid. The play was all on Cruz, but I don't really blame Santana for what he did.
  21. Yep - agree with this assessment. The slide was late and could have caused serious injury to Seby. You can see Seby have to move his leg out of the way right at the last second. It's a play that could have ended either player's season, and hopefully Cruz makes it back sooner rather than later.
  22. Ozzie is a perfect midseason replacement manager. He would have been a perfect TLR replacement last July before things got out of reach. I would not want him anywhere near a team from start to finish.
