  1. I’d want to break out too, if I had any place better to go.
  2. If it were 2 or 3 guys underperforming, that’s on the players. if it’s 2/3 (or more) of the offense underperforming, that’s on the coaches. the team is far more talented than this. Coaches are paid to extract the most out of their players. Period.
  3. That right there is hindsight managing. you get ready to play BEFORE the series. That way you don’t have to get mad.
  4. Moncada with an RBI single to get us JUST close enough to make this game more painful.
  5. Guessing third pitch 0-2 pop-up. First pitch down the pipe with a fastball for a taken strike. Second pitch chases a breaking ball in the dirt for 0-2. Third pitch gets under a fastball elevated in the strike zone for the pop-up.
  6. Seems like moving Vaughn out of the 2-hole is paying off. Gotta cool that bat down somehow.
  7. You act like JR would ever fire an executive.
  8. Looks like it's back based on the Gurriel strikeout pitch... 97, elevated, and good arm side run.
  9. Not disagreeing with the long-term outlook on his bat, but acquiring him for Collins is a win. Minor win? Sure... but I'll take what I can get.
  10. Minor, but I would count McGuire as a "win" so far, given his defense alone.
  11. Seems like folks missed the sarcasm with the "we all wish upon a star" bit.
  12. Fun Depressing fact: Cesar Hernandez is batting .289/.345/.383/.728 right now through 228 Plate Appearances. His OPS is currently higher than all but 4 members of the Sox with greater than 35 PA's (Abreu, TA, Robert, Vaughn). Also, his 228 plate appearances would lead the Sox by 34. The Sox's leader in plate appearances this year is Jose with 194.
  13. I feel obligated to post a disclaimer that all participants do this at their own risk, etc., so forth. 1 drink for ending a scoreless inning with a runner stranded at 3rd
  14. Let's at least make this team watchable for something. I'll start: 1 drink for every first-pitch swing. 2 drinks for inadvertent contact between any two Sox fielders. Please contribute and provide levity to us.
  15. Under normal circumstances, 100% agree. That said, barely anyone is hitting better now, and wholly undeserving guys (Harrison, etc.) keep getting choice AB's. Treat it as a "what have you done for me lately" meritocracy to light a fire in those other guys. Make the other guys take those AB's away from guys like Mendick.
  16. What he has done is more relevant than what others have done. He has one of our "hot" bats (that is, a league-average bat... it's all relative, after all). TLR's given so many others more of a chance to fail than Mendick's gotten, baserunning gaffe not withstanding.
