  1. can someone tell me why Wood is considered to be such a good pitcher? All I see is a guy with no control who can't win more than 14 games. Buehrle is better than Wood, unless you count hype in as a positive factor.

    Dream Job

Stuart Scott is an idiot. He tries so hard to be cool but just comes off like a complete idiot. The Asian guy was the best, by far ... he stumbled the fewest among the rest, wasn't trying to be overly funny The first guy was a bit arrogant, that's the vibe I got and may have been the reason he got voted off by the viewers. That and the fact that he was the first one and they had voting start from the get-go, which may hurt the first person each and every time. The one problem I had was everyone except the Asian guy was trying to be so funny with their jokes. In their writing, it was more like they were writing around the jokes than vise versa. As far as this being a dream job? I could see why people would consider it a dream job, but I personally don't care for it at all.
  3. yes, laughing, joking around and getting players pumped, what a horrible quality a manager should have. Bevington did all of this and now Guillien is following in his footsteps ... it's gonna be a long season. BTW, I don't know how to put this stuff in green, so for the record, I'm being very sarcastic.
  4. yes, because if JR sells this team, fans will all of sudden start going to the park, right? c'mon, people can criticize the org. all they way, the fans are just as responsible, if not more so, for the team's failures. whether JR owns the team or not, nobody is going to the games, the owner therefore won't put up the money and it will continue to go in circles year in and year out. And then, when there is a year where an owner spends money and creates a winner, Sox fans still won't show up and will make up another bulls*** excuse. that's just the way it is, unfortunately.
  5. umm, just because someone swears, doesn't make them like Bevington. If that were the case, there would be a s***load of Bevington's in the world. I swear, some people just want to find negativity in the stupidest goddamn things.
  6. wow, congrats on the whole marriage thing, I wish you the best. I'm going to take that Sports Play By Play class before I leave, I've been meaning to but it has yet to fit in with my schedule (it overlaps with my Advanced Sports Reporting class). I hope to take that though either next semester or a year from now. The internship with the score is a production one I take, right? Speaking of the score, Where I'm working now, The Chicago Sports Review, George Ofman actually writes for us - not on the web, but for the magazine. good luck with everything
  7. what's up man? I responded to one of your first posts here but you must have missed it. Anyway, congrats on being on air, any chance of you getting your own show or being a personality? that woudl be sweet. I want to get into radio myself, but that means I'll have to take more production classes and learn all that stuff, which I'm terrible at. So I'll just stick to journalism and hopefully get into radio at a later time. Anyway, how ya been? How long till ya graduate?
  8. anybody watch the Apprentice? Although I want to I keep on missing it. Anyway, my brother heard from another big Sox fan that Trump said something about going to Chicago to speak with a sports owner. I don't think that would've been said on TV and if so, someone would have caught it by now, so I think it may be fabricated a bit, but there has to be something to it. anybody know anything about this?
  9. definately. Obviously, the lower the team the longer it will take to supply coverage, but our goal is to cover everything, even if some are only on a weekly basis. In many cases, it will be better than what others are doing anyway.
  10. well, no, at least not yet. when we do start covering IHSA, it won't be game by game, we'll probably just have a few correspondents/reporters for it who will write a couple days a week or so
  11. oh god, we've been in dire need of that coverage! I know jason is already working you like a dog, so I'll leave ya alone, lol.
  12. there are a few places downtown, but I don't know exactly where to be sure as I've spent all my time on the web portion of it. I had the list at one point but I think I lost it as I do too many times.
  13. sure, have him email me at [email protected] if he's interested ... same goes for you Matt, do you have any writing experience?
  14. yes it does jas ... a part of me still misses SoxNet a whole lot, but so far, everything has worked out for the better.
  15. the magazine, which is free right now, comes out at the begining of every month, right now it's at a circulation of 30,000. The content is pretty basic: feature stories, columns and stuff like that. right now, it is only 16 pages or so, but we will be doubling it next month.
  16. Hey guys, I just want to let some of ya guys know that I'm running the ChicagoSportsReview.com, it's a web site of a monthly magazine. Anyway, I've been working on it for the last two months and just wanna let ya guys know about it. http://www.chicagosportsreview.com It is still a work in progress in regards to some of the layout and the news content we'll supply, but it's getting there and eventually we're going to have serious coverage on all five main sports teams as well as all other Chicago and Chicago area sports teams and leagues: from the Wolves to high school football. We'll also be getting press credentials and stuff like that in the near future so our coverage won't be based from the outside perspective. Anyway, I want you guys to check it out and give it a try, sign up for the newsletter if you want and give me some feedback on it. We could use all the insight and suggestions and comments you guys can offer. Also, if there are any journalists on the board who would like to gain some good experience, add clips to their resume and be a part of something that we hope to be the number one media source in Chicago. Write here or email me at [email protected] if you have any comments or are interested in contributing. thanks guys, Mario
  17. Hey what's up, man? It's Mario from school. Glad to see you signed up over here.
  18. Chinatown is 5-10 minutes from USC. I'm really surprised the Sox haven't done this until now, the attendance will approve from this, unless of course Takatsu struggles heavily, which is very possible knowing the luck of the Sox.
  19. I really wish McCain, who I was pulling for, would have won, I would have taken him over both Bush and Gore in a heartbeat.
  20. to defend our country against Iraq? whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?
  21. this State of the Union is making me sick. He has not said one thing that is true. Everything he says is just total bulls***.
  22. This team will win 82-85 games, not great, but not nearly as bad as some people are making them out to be.
  23. I'm gonna start taking pictures of it in a week or so and once I learn how to put the pics on my computer, I'll show all you guys and keep it updated and stuff.
  24. exactly like those pictures. they'll have to put lights or something to really bring out though.
  25. sorry if this was already posted, but they started putting the canopy on at USC this week. looks pretty good.
