  1. don't say big three, say big two. Kerry Wood isn't even close to being thrown in with Prior and Zambrano. no matter how much hype he gets, Wood isn't that good and has a history of falling apart at times, leading a boatload of tantrums. In fact, I consider Wood to be their #4. the Cubs can definately make the playoffs, but outside of Prior and Zambrano, both of whom are young and may not be able to take the pressures of the playoffs, their team is nothing to be scared about. Their offense is average and their bullpen is decent. Either the Braves or Giants, I think, can knock them out in four, unless the offense hits like they are hitting now, then, they may be able to do something. Even if so, they aren't a scary team to face. With all that, I'd have to root for them to go to the WS if the Sox were to do the same. that would be amazing.
  2. this is why we will be in this till the end. no, not just because of Colon, but because of our rotation and overall ability, which is greater than both the Twins and Royals, thus makes their easy schedules and our hard schedule less threatening.
  3. way to really make Jimenez look like a fool. I saw the play, he made a diving stop and went to the get the ball, there was absolutely no place for him to throw. if you don't like him, fine, but don't go out and change a story around to make him look bad. pretty pathetic.
  4. you are an idiot corg who is just waiting for Colon to fail just so you can go and say "SEE, I TOLD YOU". now go MIA until Saturday, when you are sure to return with you tub of goo bulls***. will you just quite it dummy?

    Jason, is this you?

due to the recent actions by jason, we are now taking applications for all those interested in becoming the new CEO of SoxTalk. please post your qualifications here.
  6. why do you guys even care that the Cubs are in first?
  7. no team is in the drivers seat. I don't like the fact that people bring up the Sox remaining schedule and say how tough it is, especially considering that if the Sox had a weak schedule, people would say "the Sox don't play bad teams good anyway". easy schedule or hard schedule, people are gonna doubt the Sox and easy schedule or hard schedule, a playoff race in September is a playoff race in September. each team has its advantages and disadvantages KC - they've been the most consistent in the division, but they are also the weakest team. SOX - they are the most talented team but have the toughest schedule TWINS - they have the easiest schedule, but a very unreliable rotation that in time can really effect their top of the line bullpen.
  8. we've been stranding runners on base all series, why in the hell should we think it would change there? it was a good call, sometimes you gotta be aggressive to score runs.
  9. he's been up for a couple weeks, since he was announced as the PTBNL.
  10. GAME OVER SINGLE BY DIAZ
  11. sacrifice, Nix on second for Diaz
  12. hell, I'll take a 1-2-3 and a Rangers win in the 10th.
  13. inning over, Texas coming to bat in the ninth, tied 10-10. I don't care if the Twins win, just keep on using up that pen.

    Cornejo

Cornejo isn't that bad of a pitcher. he throws strike and has pretty good movement. if he wasn't on the Tigers, he'd be a solid, respected pitcher.
  15. Buehrle pitched pretty bad on Friday and the offense left a lot of guys on base. Sox lost, 8-4. Didn't see Saturday's game, but Garland went six innings for the win, giving up two runs. The Sox scored on a three-run homer by Thomas an two-run homer by Lee. Won, 5-2. The Sox, down 1-0 after seven, score two runs in eighth and four runs in the ninth today. Loaiza pitched eight innings, gave up one run. Crede hit the game-tying homer and everyone hit after that. Gordon pitched the ninth.
  16. that is it exactly. for some reason, the Sox need to be underdogs. any type of advantage on paper for them is a disadvantage in play for them.
  17. sorry BMR, Vince got ya on this, whether his point is right or wrong. how is it that he can't say "I told you so" to you guys complaining yet you guys can say "I told you so" in regards to Cotts' outing? HAD Buehrle of pitched yesterday and won, we would've lost today then because Buehrle is getting beat by the Tigers, meaning Cotts would've pitched even worse. that is based on the theory that Buehrle would've pitched better than Cotts yesterday. What happened is over, let us move on.
  18. Anthony, don't ever post something this stupid again.
  19. the matchup gives you the best chance to win two? yes but does it not give you the best chance at losing two too? this team has played with fire all year with their start, I'd take the VERY good chance at one win over a small chance at two wins.
  20. THANK YOU. was this a decision Manuel was 100% right in? no, you have the right to question it, but people have been idiots to be honest in how they've handled this situation and how they've taken it too much out of context.
  21. I think the only way Manuel should be criticized is if it was Buehrle's chance to pitch in the rotation. IT WASN'T HIS TURN. the ONLY time you push a guy up is when you move to a four-man rotation briefly. this will allow you to use that guy you moved up one more time in the season. whether Buehrle pitches today or tomorrow, he will get his fair share of starts. as far as backfiring? what if Buehrle pitched and got rocked? and then Cotts struggles against the Tigers and we get shutdown by a no name pitcher, which we've done MANY times this year. if that happens you are looking at a two game losing streak. I know you guys don't like this idea of conceding a game, and I don't think Manuel was trying to do this, but we need wins and we have a VERY good shot at winning tomorrow.
  22. you guys know damn well if the Sox lose the first of the Tigers series there will be more "panicing" then losing to the Yankees, right?
  23. I've been watching the Sox all season BMR, please don't question me on that. all I'm saying is this decision by JM has been blown way out of proportion I don't know how the players have reacted to this, neither do you, but this decision shouldn't of been this threatening. personally, I would've started Buehrle because Buehrle wanted to start and he deserves that, but Manuel wanted to give Buehrle an extra day off, which is what he's been saying all along. he wanted the Sox to win the series AND, if possible, give Buehrle the extra day off. he had the intention of going with Cotts from the get go, but held up his decision, waiting on Wednesday's final. I don't see what is the big deal with it. I don't see why players would be pissed about this either, unless he didn't tell them a damn thing, or he said something that he shouldn't of said.
