they would rank near the bottom for sure. the team just isn't designed for that, although I'll say this, after Joe Crede hit that homer yesterday, Miguel Olivo should've dropped a bunt down, that would have been an ideal situation to do it. so even though they aren't designed for it, I think they could find ways to add that style into the mix. I don't mind teams not walking, as long as they don't strikeout and never go deep into counts.

the game play is not really much different than last year in my opinion, just harder to play defense and easier to score, which I hate. it is an very cool game though with the way the franchise mode is and all.

bout time we get an italian in the white house.

wow, another incident close to home. this happened down the block from my families gas station, my brother's work and my other brothers house. crazy.

I know Carol Slezak, in her column in which she retracted her earlier knocking of the Sox, said that one prob the Sox have is the small amount of two-way players, saying Frank Thomas, Jose Valentin and Carlos Lee were all DH-like players, or something of the sort. it wasn't ripping Lee completely, but I was a pretty upset to read that. thing is, her belief is the norm amongst many, even Sox fans, so Hawk and DJ really shouldn't be upset at her, but the majority who still think Lee is a liability in left. no matter how good Lee becomes on defense, he will always been regarded as a bad defensive player for some reason. he just made a few ugly plays in his career and it appears as though they will always stick with him.

I don't think much of White, but he is batting .483 lifetime against us. I think the better deal was the Royals getting Anderson, pretty safe pickup.

sending players on rehab assignments to AAA seems to be the norm for all teams. although the Knights are in a race, that means very little in regards to the Sox I would assume. I don't think the organization cares too much about minor league teams doing well, just the players.

umm, you are saying you don't want Koch back, basing that on the fact that he struggled this year, yet ignoring the fact that he's been a good reliever his entire career and is rehabbing right now. that makes no sense.
-
it was a close call and I heard there was a close call the inning before hand also. not much you can do, umps make mistakes. I mean, umps have made mistakes that have costed pitchers runs, this only costed him a no-hitter, which I believe is little bit less important. s*** happens, but no-hitter or not, it is clearly he pitched one hell of a game, he doesn't need a no-hitter to show for it.
-
whether Koch struggled in the early going or not, he has been a good reliever in the AL since his rookie season. with that, NOBODY should say a damn thing about Koch. maybe he was hurt when he came here because the A's overused him last year, is that his fault? only problem I have with Koch is his unwillingness to accept he lost something on his fastball, but he apparently has and is trying to fix it, AND if he does, he's a HUGE addition to this pen; not as a closer, but reliever.
-
so because of this he is a bum? you can say he won't be ready, but to say he's a bum is wrong. and even if he won't be ready, isn't worth the try? what is wrong with signing him to a minor league deal? unless we for some reason are looking out for the better of the Knights.
-
the guy was a solid reliever with loads of potential for a few years then has one bad year, which really wasn't bad (just a few TERRIBLE outings) and he's a bum? it is funny how quick people are to knock a guy just because they want to criticize.
-
no real problem keeping him. I would've asked that he pitched only five innings, but he gave up one run, granted he had five walks, you have to give him the chance to pitch one more inning, just to see if he can get through an inning without his best stuff. wasn't really a bad move.

I don't care too much for days off in college, I mean, at least in my case, I will only have classes three days a week (Tue thru Thurs). at Columbia though, and I find this pretty weird, right before Fall Semester finals (held in January) is winter break. so you have two weeks off, go back to school for two-three weeks, then get another three weeks off before the Spring Semester starts.
-
you should go to most classes, but don't get all nervous if you miss a day, it is college after all.
-
I'm between my Junior and Senior year at Columbia. I start back up on September 20th or something.

well, if worse comes to worse and people here would still like to see the stories, I'm sure we can post reports and stories on this board. hopefully it never leads to that.

welcome abooard, based on your name, do you happen to live in Bridgeport?
-
I should be on that ballot, I'm sure I'm good for at least one vote, coming from myself of course.

if Paniagua reverts back to his pre-2002 self, it will be a good pickup. either way, I think it is a risk worth taking, what do we have to lose?

please, use SoxandRoll's chatroom (the one Mike just posted), not SoxNet's. thanks

here is an interesting question. early in Thomas' career, when he was awesome, he showed no ability to come through in the clutch. the past few season's, his numbers have been down, but he's become so much better of a clutch hitter. question is, who would you rather have?
-
I know a lot of Sox fans do that and I pretty much expect this type of behavior anytime they have bad at bat let alone a bad week, especially with me living two blocks from the crap.
-
but why be negative to the point where you see absolutely NO CHANCE of a positive? once again, I can see if you strongly believe this team won't do it, but to say it as if it is fact and only a matter of time and then continue to post and support them is stupid. add to that the fact that some are saying so many years of suffering will make you negative, which means you are supporting a team that you know (in your mind) will never win a damn thing based on a history of dissapointment? I know how bad the Sox have been in terms of championships over their history and I can imagine how much suffering the old-timers have gone through, but years of struggles doesn't guarantee more years of struggles. and if those people who believe so are so confident in that, why support? I think if you support a team, you are saying you have some hope, but at the same time you speak as if there is no chance in hell. that is what confuses me.

the journalist knew the risk of covering the war, he wasn't forced there. it is unfortunate, but they are there by choice.
