  1. oh, sorry. just thought you were complaining about something from last night when we have an even bigger problem in today's game. DP got the Sox out of the inning BTW.
  2. good thing you are ripping Koch when at this moment the D-Rays have the bases-loaded thanks to a poor throw by Thomas. let us worry about this.
  3. the problem with Koch is simple. he has relied on a straight 92 MPH fastball FAR too often. whenever he's had success this year, it has happened because he used his curve and slider along with his fastball. he doesn't even have to have the pitches working, but by simply using them he gains and advantage as his 75 MPH curve could make his 92 MPH look a lot stronger. Although it is clear Koch has struggled and can no longer save games for us, I think it is just the point of him using all his pitches. his speed is down on his fastball, but that isn't the only thing. he can have a 97 MPH fastball right now and he'll still get hit, just not as much.
  4. OK, either the season started in January or White has been with us since last season. if neither are true, there is no way you can go and say this is only a few games as we are just three MONTHS into the season. he started off bad, has been good since early June, along with having a solid career. there should be little doubt in him. he's a solid reliever.
  5. I don't think you can play shallow with two outs and a guy like Rivas up. you gotta stop the double. either way, it is over with. Rivas could've easily of stolen second with Koch on the mound anyway. as far as Koch pitching? personally I think that is a time to use Glover or Sanders.
  6. Everett is a jerk in the media's eyes. many players respect him because he's a hard working, smart player. as far as Alomar. once again, he was in a bad situation. these players will not affect the clubhouse.
  7. I think Harris and Rowand should stay in center for defensive/energy/speed purposes. so the lineup should be like this: 2B-Alomar CF-Rowand/Harris 1B-Thomas RF-Ordonez DH/LF-Everett LF/DH-Lee SS-Valentin 3B-Crede C-Olivo also, I would have Daubach play DH from time to time and have Everett in CF with Lee in LF. I wonder where this leaves Konerko the rest of the season?
  8. Everett has to DH and play LF with an occassional start in CF.
  9. it seems so. I'm upset at giving up Jimenez, because unlike many here, I liked him, but we are trying to do some things and with Harris and Miles still here, I can handle losing Jimenez IF Everett is used in the right spot, DH.
  10. If Everett DH's, we didn't lose a thing. we actually picked it up with Daubach on the bench. as long as Harris and Rowand stay in center, I'll be happy. I just heard Jimenez was in the deal.
  11. I like the aggressiveness and the fact that we are going for it, but I'm so sure about Everett. this has nothing to do with his clubhouse manner as I'm a firm believer that one player can't disrupt the player. plus, I've heard many people say Everett has changed a lot. My thing is IF we decide to use him in center, it could be a huge liability. personally, DH and play him in left, with some games in CF. problem is we are now taking the bat out of Daubach's hand. I'm not too happy with the fact that we are benching guys on this team who have been through our early season slump. they deal with it and get benched as soon as things start going good.
  12. I would probably take Encarnation over Everrett for the fact that he can play center, BUT the more I think about a trade for Everrett, the more I would be OK pending who we give up. I say this because Everrett will allow us to do some nice rotation of guys from DH to position. Everrett can DH one day, play left the next for Lee. he can play center here and there. personally, I'd rather stay where we are. I think Harris and Rowand in center is fine, and I think IF konerko were to be sent to the minors, he can be a huge contributer offensively down the stretch.
  13. it didn't appear he liked the Mets too much. after all, it wasn't his choice to go there, right? I think he'll be alright, however, I don't see him returning to the alomar of 2001, not by a long shot. main thing is the defense and experience he brings. offensively, I think he'll be solid.

    Hey all

Harris needs to platoon with Rowand in center. if that is the case, he can't bat leadoff. ideally Alomar should be batting second, but we can't bench Rowand after he finally starts hitting.
  15. I wouldn't want Everrett, not because of his attitude, but because defensively he isn't that great center, which I think is what we need right now. just because we add defense at second in Alomar, doesn't mean we can slack off in center. Everrett is a good power hitter, but I would suggest batting him DH whenever they can.

    Hey all

    the lineup should be this: 2B-Alomar CF-Rowand/Harris 1B-Thomas RF-Ordonez SS-Valentin LF-Lee DH-Daubach 3B-Crede C-Olivo
  17. I'd talk to Konerko and send him down. If Konerko is a team player, he will go to Charlotte, rehab and work on his swing. IF he can revive himself he can be a HUGE addition come August/September. so I say demote Konerko, and then when Wunsch returns from the DL in a week or so, decide who, between Armando Rios and Jimenez has to go. personally, with Lee and Ordonez at the corners, Rowand and Harris playing in center and Daubach being an option in the OF, Rios may be the guy I drop. I mean, will he really play anyway? of course, everyone has to be on the same page with this. If Jimenez isn't accepting of a backup role, he'll need to go. personally though, Alomar will likely be gone next season, which means Jimenez, Harris or Miles will have to take over.
  18. agreed, if you don't pitch, you can't pitch effectively. you know how much pressure is on him to perform knowing he won't be pitching again for another week or two?
  19. I'm too lazy to read all the posts here, but as far as Weaver. IF we were to get him, it could be a good move in that we can then move Wright to the pen, where many feel he can be more successfull at and of course, our bullpen could use the help. I think getting Weaver also depends on IF we keep Colon. if we make a trade for either, we are showing we are in the race, which means we won't trade Colon, which means he'll likely depart in the off-season with us getting no immediate pitching help, so getting Weaver could help in the long run, while Alomar will be filling a position this year as we have Jimenez, Harris, Miles and Hummell at second. none of them are great, but anyone of them can come through and make it in the majors.
  20. oh wow, that is right around the block for me. I'm gonna have to find out now.
  21. it would be a stretch for him to play left. Stewart is a good hitter who seems to be underrated, but my concern is how he has the tendancy to get hurt. as someone said though, Jays are in it still.
  22. umm, Michelle, you are putting words in my mouth. I'm sure many sox fans doubted Olivo, but I didn't, I swear on that. I don't assume a minor league player will be crap. also, I never said Borchard was going to be good. I've been saying it since last year, he still needs time in AAA. the tools for him are there, he just needs to fix that long swing. I'm not going to go on a list of the guys i liked because I simply don't have the time, but please, don't get offended because I like Jimenez. you are acting like you are this major league scout for christ sake. everyone likes specific players, some of them don't work out. so just relax.
