  1. hmm, Konerko moving a few blocks from the park? I know of a few houses being built around my area, but I would assume he would have a rather big house. afterall, he's making $6 mil a year. I haven't heard anything about him moving into the neighborhood though.
  2. also HSC, I've had my share of players who I said would be good that turned out good.
  3. I never crusified anyone on Olivo. his arm was great and his maturity and determination to learn is outstanding for a catcher his age. I never had a beef with Olivo.
  4. lol, I knew I was getting that response. I didn't say you have jumped off and on Jimenez's bandwagon, but the fact is whether he does good or bad, you rip on him. he can go 3-4 and you'll complain about him for something. I'm not saying to like him. it is cool that you stick to your guns. I stick to my guns when I say I'm not a fan of Valentin, but what he's done this past week offensively has been great and I give him props on that. Jimenez was the best hitter on the team at one point and our only source of offense, yet you still hated him. you can hate him, but don't fail to see any upside or the productive stuff he has done. that is all I'm saying. Miles vs Jimenez. I pick Jimenez, but I could see why a lot would want Miles. if Miles comes up, even though I don't think he can make it long term, I'm not gonna hope he fails and jump on him when/if he does.
  5. interesting, but it comes from gammons, so who knows. Cotts for Alomar? Cotts for Weaver? do we trade a young prospect who COULD be good for some major league players who WERE good and COULD become good again?
  6. HSC he just sucks because of your infatuation with Miles. it doesn't make a difference what Jimenez does, you will rip on him, so stop the bulls***. you're very biased when it comes to that. as far as Konerko. placing him on the DL wouldn't be a bad thing. I think one better would be to simply send him to the minors for 2-3 weeks, bring up Miles so we can finally see what he can do, and then when Konerko is ready, go from there.
  7. only guy to play the Pads was Alomar back in the late 80's, when Klesko wasn't even in the majors.
  8. if he doesn't figure it out this season, send him to the minors and work with him. I still think he can come back around, if not this season, next year.
  9. Castillo is making $4,850,000 this season, which is his free agent year. if we get him, we'll have to pay him $6-7 mil for 3-4 years.
  10. well, Glover has recently changed his approach and delivery, but has yet to use it. Glover was still strong last year and if he lost anything, it might be from him getting shifted from the rotation to pen as much as he did. even so, just because he's lost something, doesn't mean he can't get it back. And he can't get it back, unless he is used. he's been working on things, let us see what comes from it.
  11. yeah, let alone Borchard and Loaiza. bad bad trade.

    DJ sucks

I agree with that. here is my thing. we trade Jimenez IF we are in the pennant race, yet when we were bad he was the main reason we were bad. IF we were to acquire Castillo or Alomar or give Miles or Harris a chance, I will be fine with it. BUT, there are too many people who aren't giving Jimenez a fair chance. he had a good start, people hated him, he's struggling, people hate him. he's a talented player who should be given more time than three months. considering all the doubt on this board that is directed at how poor this team is, you'd think they would be patient with a guy like Jimenez.
  13. we get beat easily in the BoSox deal. Todd Walker? if we are gonna trade Loaiza and Borchard, we better get something really good in return. the second trade? eh.

    DJ sucks

I will say this again, this is Jimenez first full season starting at one position, let alone second. has his defense been good? no, but the ability is definately there. as far as baserunning? if I'm not mistake, Carlos Lee was a bad baserunner, but now is pretty decent. Jimenez will get better with time. offensively and defensively the tools are there, it just takes time.
  15. the guy hasn't pitched much at all this season, how can you say he needs to go? Glover needs to be given a legit shot. he's worked once every two weeks and people expect him to just figure things out. as bad as our pen is, you'd think they'd try to see what everyone can do, instead of just sticking with the same three guys.
  16. the guy had his second worst start of the season and gave up four runs over seven innings, yet you are questioning him? four runs in seven innings is pretty damn good for a guys second worst start of the season. Loaiza has been doubted since his second start of the season. can we stop doubting him?

    DJ sucks

you know what is funny. when he was batting .300 earlier and playing some pretty flawless baseball, compared to the other players on this team of course, everybody ripped on him even though we were playing bad as a team. now that we are playing good and he's struggling, everyone is still ripping on him. and Roman, your constant contradiction of yourself is making me sick. what is also weird is how a 32-year-old, $5 million man like Jose Valentin can receive so much slack, while a younger, less expensive Jimenez gets ripped on for defensive troubles. Paul Konerko now sucks when people LOVED him last year. Mark Buehrle, he's sucked at one point. god, I hate this s***. it is like too many always like to contradict themselves or refuse to give credit when credit is due. Rick White has now given up just two runs in 13 1/3 innings. a guy with a pretty decent career had a bad start to the season and people were saying how he sucked. yet I have not seen one person go out and say, "wow, he's picked it up a bit".
  18. switch D-Lo and Olivo and it is fine.

    DJ

Jimenez still has a ways to go to break out of this slump. hopefully this ignites him. as far Konerko, it is so sad to see this happen to him. he really looks bad.
  20. this might be one of the dumbest statements/thread someone on this board has made all year.
  21. well, I think if we continue to play good ball and stay in contention, first order of business will be to get another reliever. it doesn't have to be a closer, just a good strong reliever who can help out this pen. I think our pen will be fine, considering our rotation and I think Koch, Gordon and Marte will come up in the end, along with a Wunsch. people rip on Rick White, and to a point it is warranted, but the guy has been a solid reliever for a few years now and can easily turn it around, which he has somewhat over the past 2 weeks. I'm still a fan of Glover and I think he's a guy they need to get in more. he's not pitching great enough to deserve more innings, but he isn't going to figure things out without it. I just wish we can have some more blowouts to where we can get Glover, Sanders and White more innings. I mean, if Koch, Marte and Gordon are going to struggle with leads, why not see what White, Glover and Sanders can do? unless you have 3-4 top notch relievers, you have to try to make your pen effective by using the whole pen.
  22. it seems those who don't like Colon are the same people who don't like KW, which makes their opinion completely useless. how can anyone look at Colon and believe he's hurting us?

    Aaron Miles

Miles attitude and hustle is good. seeing him play in March, he does have that spark about it him, but talent-wise, I don't see him lasting long or playing to a very high level. he's basically a starter or nothing due to the fact that he can't play another position. I wouldn't mind seeing him up here if an injury happens or to have him platoon with Jimenez if Jimenez continues to struggle, but I dont' see Miles making as big as an impact as people think. maybe I'll be wrong though.
  24. too many people are naturally lazy when it comes to that or, like many times, spend too much focus on where they hit the ball and lose focus on running hard. as far as the coaches. I think there are a lot of bad coaches who don't stress stuff like that and I think too many are hesistant or afraid to tell a talented player making money to do stuff like that. I could see a player doing that once in a while as I even watch the ball at times, losing focus, but just because you hit the ball to the shortstop doesn't mean it is an easy out. I coach baseball and I get on the players behinds all the time when they don't run stuff out, take a good lead.
  25. well, it wasn't great baserunning, but better than most of the guys on this team. the ball he hit was a double for sure, Daubach running home allowed him to move to third and then the bad throw brings him home. as long as you have speed and hustle, that run is easy.
