I'm not a fan of either player, but if i would have to pick one, I'd pick Wilson.

speed and baserunning skils is the only strong aspect of my baseball ability. I can't hit, can't throw and I'm too inconsistent in the field. I can run the bases with the best of them though. like you said roman, you have speed, you can cause a lot of stupid errors to happen. that is why I don't understand why soo many players don't run out groundballs.
-
there is only one way to fix Jimenez' baserunning. Manuel needs to approach him and tell him straight out that his baserunning is bad. he then needs to pinch run for him when the opportunity presents himself. for now, when Jimenez gets on in a close game in the 7th inning or later, pinch run Graffanino for him. I don't think a player will average speed will like the idea of a player with average speed replacing him on the bases. maybe that will get him to work harder. manuel needs to be more aggressive with stuff like this though and keep on pounding it into Jimenez' head.

gotcha CWSOX. as I said, if it comes to the point where you guys are sick of this guy, let us know. but just as CWSOX said, we really aren't about banning people.
-
well, unless this new troll has been posting a lot of crap I haven't seen, we're not gonna ban him just yet. if he has started trouble and all you guys want him gone, just say it and we'll ban him, but from what I see, it was simply one post.

just because a player played a certain position in the minors, doesn't mean he can play it in the majors. his range and arm lack too much to play short. I mean, I think he would be adequate there considering we'd have great defense at second with Harris and Crede at third, but unless we get a young shortstop, Valentin will have to start.
-
Jimenez won't be able to handle short, let us wait for him to fully develope into a second baseman first. unless we pull off a trade for a young shortstop, Valentin is here to stay. the bad thing is even if we were to get a new one, it would mean our season is over as it will most likely be done as a fire sale.

if Buehrle wants to be paid money and claims his losses are the fault of his teammates, he better be able to go up against the best team in the division on the road. he's here till 2006 (outside of a trade), and the Twins aren't getting worse anytime soon. he better figure things out and stop finding excuses, pointing fingers.
-
wow, bad attitude by mark, how can you NOT want to face the best team in your division? I have to say, I've been very dissapointed with the way he's handled things this season. he has yet to really put blame on himself for anything. whether it is the park, offense, defense or bullpen. hopefully he straightens out.
-
HSC, he has a ponit, you do see it more often than you think. there are people who sit way up top for their own enjoyment.
-
who knows why he was tired, I'm sure he's allowed to have a day like this, like every other pitcher.
-
there were a few who didn't blame him, but I like how SOO MANY people like to open their mouths before knowing the complete truth, whether history would back them up or not.
-
once again, I would've kept Colon in, but look at it this way. if you are the manager and your pitcher tells you to have someone ready because you won't be able to finish it, you figure "okay, we'll start him", BUT not when the first guy to bat that inning in a one run game has a career .320 batting average against that pitcher, AND is a lefty the same side the best reliever you have pitches from.
-
apparently Colon was in fact tired and asked to have someone ready in the pen.
-
Prior is a good pitcher who has been hyped to the point where he's already in the hall. people forget this is the major leagues. not easy for ANYONE, no matter how talented, to maintain a level a play for 10+ years.
-
I think wishing either upon a person is stupid, especially one you know little about, and it is concerning SPORTS. how can you wish death upon a baseball manager? very classless.
-
either way, the head-to-head matchups people bring up means absolutely nothing in this series.
-
agreed, Colon was pitching good, but far from lights out. and like I said, if we can't trust Marte and the pen to finish this game, then we are never going to go anywhere anyway. Marte hasn't pitched in a few days, and although he's been off of late, he was fresh, while Colon has come off two rough starts: One where he lost it in the ninth and another where he felt shoulder pain, although minimal.
-
yep. although Manuel has made bad moves, this one is not one of them. questionable? yes, but it isn't clear cut. whether Marte or Colon, I liked our chances.
-
hasn't lost 10MPH, maybe 4-5. even so, his control has been bad, so it wouldn't make much of a difference. up until last week, he was pitching good.
-
thank you. we simply lost today, that is it, nobody's fault. are we ever going to give credit for the other team beating us? or are we gonna continually blame the umps and our own players? we lost, that is it all.
-
ONCE AGAIN, this series has nothing to do with who is the better team. if that were the case, we would've been swept. this series has NEVER had anything to do with the better team, history proves it. Prior, Wood, Estes or whoever, doesn't make much difference in a series like this. future HOF? I didn't know a one year player was able to make it in the HOF? very interesting
-
the relay throw was fine, good throws by both Lee and Valentin. they simply beat it out. can't blame the umps either, s*** like that happens all the time. we lost the game, simple as that. close game and our best reliever in, nothing you can do.
-
not to jump on Manuel's side, but there was growing concern last season and the past few weeks on the arm status of Colon. He was killed in the ninth against the Giants that one start because he supposedly was tired despite a low pitch count. last start, he had a slight shoulder problem. some have been thinking he should be eased up a bit, now that he gets pulled after giving up two singles, people get mad. you could've EASILY of left him in, but pulling him didn't lose us the game. since when is Damaso Marte a bad guy to go to? I also like it how soo many people apparently expect us to win without our pen. whether we like it or not, if we are gonna go anywhere, we need a pen, we can't avoid that by avoiding it. I would've kept him in, but think either way is a good decision.
-
can people stop making it seem as though Prior and Wood are the greatest pitchers ever?!!! I hate how sox fans are RELIEVED we didn't face them. THIS IS THE CROSSTOWN SERIES - it doesn't make a f***ing differance who pitches or who bats, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. it has NOTHING to do with who is better.
