  1. I wouldn't mind dumping Konerko, not because of his poor play, but his salary is somewhat high and I would prefer to keep Colon and Buehrle here. if we are gonna keep one of those guys, I'd make it Lee. I know what everyone is thinking, Lee over Konerko and Thomas? sure Lee isn't gonna put up the numbers they put up, but we can probably keep him for $4 mil a year, $2-$3 mil less than Thomas or Konerko. Also, we can teach Lee to play first base, meaning he can play two positions. let us not forget his speed. his baserunning has improved to an extent, making him more valuable on teh bases compared to Thomas and Konerko. Keep Lee, and get a few guys to rotate with him at LF/1B/DH. you save $14 mil or so on Konerko and Thomas, can spend that on Colon/Buehrle.
  2. I am counting down the days till the Sox stop paying Jose 4.5 million a year. The guy is SO OVERATED. I still can't believe the league hasn't figured out that they could throw him a curveball every at bat and he would hit .120 Only reason he'd get any hits is that a few of the curves would be hung. yeah jas, I never full realized that until you pointed it out. Valentin has survived on his "leadership", which suprisingly clouds people enough to think he's a good player on the field. I think he's clutch and I like his baserunning, but what good is clutch if nobody is on base? and what good is baserunning if you can't get on base?
  3. eh, Dunn would be nice because he is a lefty, but the strikeouts/homer analysis is something I don't like. the only time strikeouts are acceptable is when you are Jim Thome. we need some sound fundamental players on this team before anything. then again, if Lee, Konerko and Thomas were all be shipped out as a result of this, giving us room to pick up some solid players at first and DH/OF, then I would do this.
  4. Sears will likely be DH'ing in the series, unless Jones comes back some how.
  5. not ripping Biddle here or anything, I've always liked his attitude, but his ERA is somewhat high for a closer in the NL. granted he does have 10 saves. wish him the best, but I'm not sure he'll be the closer throughout like he's shown so far. who knows though.
  6. nobody, which is why we can't dump Valentin, he's the best we have. we need to develop one. I know there is a guy down in the minors, but one guy isn't enough when your developing. Jimenez is probably the most capable of anyone we have, but that isn't saying much. let's not forgot, shortstop, second base, hell, the infield in general isn't our problem right now, although Konerko has been playing pretty bad. our problem is offensively, back to Konerko and Thomas, these two guys have become big holes. Ordonez and Lee have had their problems, but they break out here and there and show something at times, but Konerko and Thomas (and even Valentin) have done nothing. if we are going do anything it needs to be this: find a center fielder dump Frank Thomas find a lefty-hitting, strong defensive, good speed, fundamentally sound left-fielder. THEN, you rotate Lee, Konerko and this guy at 1B/DH/LF. the DH spot shouldn't be for one player, it should be used as a half-day off. this has nothing to do with Thomas. I don't think he's been a problem, I just figure, if we are gonna struggle, struggle the right way and not with a DH-only player.
  7. also, if we were to dump Valentin and have Jimenez play short (bad idea) I would rather have Miles at second.
  8. not really for that trade, partly because I like Jimenez at second, but he isn't a shortstop. his range and overall ability isn't there for short, then again, can't be much worse than Valentin. we need to fix up the holes on this team, not a position we are set in (jimenez, miles, harris)
  9. yeah, I just try to make sure everyone here see's both sides of the story.
  10. lol, that's cool steff. I know why people dislike him. all that talk about him being a dick, which could very well be true, but he's playing good, and personally, I like his style, something we've lacked for some time.
  11. oh, that error cost us the game, better yet, the season so far? it was Jimenez who walked those guys in the inning, right, not Buehrle? it was Jimenez in the batters box all the times Ordonez and Konerko have grounded into DP's, Crede swings at crap in the dirt, Thomas pops up, or Valentin looks like a total lush against lefties? it was Jimenez batting instead of those guys? I didn't know that, thanks for telling me. because of all these flaws by other players, let us blame Jimenez, the guy who has done the least wrong. what has Jimenez done so far this year? -made a weak throw to first, which was wrong, but it isn't the first time it happened with infielers. -he missed a popup, which Crede and Konerko have done a few times also. -got picked up first, but Valentin missed the bunt. -then he got picked off rounding third, which was a bad play. I mean really, you guys have no arguement against him outside of him being a "dickhead"? I didn't know his job was to take pitches, get on base and be one of the more productive players on this year, and, oh yeah, be the nicest guys in the world.
  12. it will always be like that. some people just fail to see a person's upside. they hear of a guy being a prick so they rip him for everything. god forbid, like a player can't change, and even if not, his job is to play baseball, which he's done a hell of a job of. Jimenez has been the only guy in this offense that has gone 0-4 and has still been productive. unlike everyone else who goes 0-4 with two strikeouts, a double play, and a popup, Jimenez will go 0-4 with a lineout, fly out, two groundouts, and walk, while still taking 5-6 pitches an at bat. nobody realizes how BIG this team needs a patient, consistent "hitter".
  13. I'm not so sure about at least 17 win. he's gonna have to face teams like the Yanks, BoSox, and the west too. not saying he can't beat good teams, but he's struggled historically against a few of them, plus, it'll be interesting to see how his arm holds up come August and September. we shouldn't be talking about that. right now he's pitching great and keeping us in this thing, let's hope Buehrle, Garland and the offense could come around

    7-1

BTW, I don't think Loaiza will continue on this pace, but I do see him having a strong season, he's looked very different compared to years past and seems to have a really good attitude about it.

    7-1

why is it that when a guy goes from bad to good, people say, "well, ___ amount of time doesn't make up for years of bad play". yet when a guy plays good and struggles, people say "this guys sucks". this wasn't directed at you tolleson, just something I've noticed.
  16. yeah, it is gonna be AWESOME when we go. all you guys better hold the fort down over here too.
  17. this sure is a dumb poll. of all the problems on this team, we are trying to see who can fill in for a strength.
  18. well guys, from what I hear, KW was never really on the hot seat. apparently it was all just a rumor after all. his job is safe.
  19. can't make that trade. although Carl Everett, when he is hitting, would be very big for us since he's a lefty and we can use offense right now, Garland is too valuable still. I mean, our rotation isn't exactly stellar right now. I wouldn't make that trade.
  20. yeah, BIG insurance runs. insurances runs in the last at bat is one thing good teams do. very big run.
  21. 7-2 game, I would have Koch pitch, but now it is 7-4, I keep Marte in. keep Marte in and have Koch pitch tomorrow no matter what. you throw in Koch, he struggles, we are in big trouble cause we won't have Marte to go to.
  22. not doing a lot, but they've tried it. definately a different energy level in this game, win or lose.
  23. he's looking pretty good, a lot better than he has looked. the real question is, what will the lineup be tomorrow? Graffanino will likely play again tomorrow in place of Valentin, which means Jimenez will be playing second. do you have Jiminez lead off and Thomas bat second with Graffanino batting 8th? Or do you have Graffanino leadoff with Thomas batting second and Jimenez batting 8th? or do you have Jimenez leadoff with Graffy batting second and Thomas going third? should be interesting.
  24. hit and runs, three plays at the plate, Thomas batting second. actually a fun game to watch, and not just cause we are winning.
  25. this guy is awesome. he plays his ass off and is just fun to watch. I would take nine of him anyday.
