  1. The secondary market argument was stupid. People will still buy his seats. If he is worried about something that will become mainstream that obstructs his view, okay, but if other parks are going to do it too, he is kind of dumb to get rid of season tickets. If the idiot gets rid of his season tickets, then so be it. I bet he keeps them and gets over it. And who the hell his age needs autographs?
  2. Some idiot called into the Score and complained about his season tickets being impacted, saying he won’t renew them because it will hurt him on the secondary market and he can’t get autographs. Get over it.

Jack, I saw this article today and thought of you. https://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/ct-life-autism-hiring-program-05292019-story.html Hopefully you have had some good offers come your way, but I thought it was worth reading.
  4. I turned on WGN Radio the other day and didn’t recognize the broadcaster who was doing play by play.
  5. Can someone explain why DJ is in the booth? Who is doing the game with Farmer?
  6. I hope all who b****ed about him eat crow.
  7. Can someone provide me with an update on Zack Burdi? The last story I found on him is that he was in the minor league spring training camp but there is nothing further on him and he hasn’t appeared in any MILB games to my knowledge.
  8. A little bit, I like Spiegs and Parkins or McNeil and Spiegs more than Parkins and McNeil any day of the week.
  9. Ok. I guess I’m more bothered that Bernstein is getting neutered.
  10. My point isn’t about Laurence, it’s about taking away time from Bernstein and McKnight. I’m glad Laurence will be on.
  11. Have you listened recently? I used to be a Dan hater but he is actually one of the better hosts. He and McKnight bring actual analytical content as opposed to the garbage we hear in the afternoons. The old Bernstein who used to beat up callers is gone. I like the in depth coverage they do on stories, even if I loathe the Midday Midway. That station is neutering him and some of their other hosts and are empowering crappy programming in the afternoons. I love Mac, but there’s not enough sports compared to movies, weed and gambling. And for those who were upset by the political slant the station had or has when politics are intertwined with sports, they can go up the dial and shove it up their ass.
  12. Another dumb move from Jimmy DeCastro: https://670thescore.radio.com/670-the-score-expand-daily-lineup-laurence-holmes-shift-day Why cut the midday’s shift when their analytical content makes me learn more about sports analytics? It’s much better than listening to McNeil and Parkins in the afternoon talk about gambling and weed. My fear is that a neutered Bernstein is on his way out.
  13. Yes, I have been listening to SCORE HOUSE this week. It is almost entirely pro Cub with no White Sox coverage. It is almost like talking to 670 is frowned upon and the White Sox interviews are always early in the morning. They could also make SCORE HOUSE so much better by having the guys broadcast all together with “Can’t Do It” or maybe drunken debauchery with everyone on the evening shows. The video stream is more fun to watch than listening to the crap that has been on. I’m still not a fan of the new Score lineup and miss Spiegs.
  14. Thank goodness Daley lost and Mendoza lost as well. Serves her right for being elected then ditching her post if she were to become mayor. Vallas didn’t win, but it sounds like there is going to be a lot of support for Lightfoot, which would be great. I’m hoping she can outlast the machine and get elected as an outsider of sorts. I guess it will depend on the endorsements and ground game. I’m also not surprised by the turnout. Lots of apathy among voters, an election in late February and too many candidates. More people should vote in the runoff.
  15. Unfortunately I bought a home here and my wife (who is a teacher) and I want to have kids here. I’m somewhat terrified about what will happen when the bubble bursts and our taxes are even higher than they are now. We may have to move somewhere else in Illinois to meet the cost of living and give her a shot at getting a retirement. The pension problem really needs to be fixed so that younger workers who don’t get social security can retire.
  16. Now I know to only trust the major news breakers and not random sources. I don’t know what people heard that was so good when they tweeted, but in the end it didn’t net Machado. If they couldn’t afford $300 million, they shouldn’t have signed Jay and traded for Alonso. Maybe Alonso will take over for Abreu at some point and Jay gets dealt at the deadline. It’s going to be really awkward this season. I’m disappointed but you have to hope they will fill third base without the solution being Moncada or Sanchez. They need to hit on the talent they have in the minors and draft well enough for this thing to work. Otherwise this thing isn’t worth it and they need to prepare to lose attendance even more and fire Hahn and Williams, or sell the team. I won’t be going to as many games this year without seeing any more acquisitions that are gamechanging, or in the coming years. I’ll see Jimenez once, but then I can’t commit to going to many more games this year. What a disappointing day to be a White Sox fan if they couldn’t go to $300+ million.
  17. Page 776. Can Manny sign so we can have our Declaration of Independence? So Moncada taking balls at third was our response to Machado possibly not signing? Why not just leave Sanchez at third? Any accountants have any thoughts on deferred contracts and how those would be beneficial? What load would the Sox have to do if Illinois switches from a flat to a progressive tax? Can’t wait for this to end.
  18. Thank you! This should at least make us somewhat curious how they could afford Machado and why he would want to go there. It seems like the Sox would have a better chance at contending than the Padres, given the readiness of their prospects and the AL Central.
  19. What about the debts the Padres ownership has? It was mentioned earlier in the thread but I can’t find the post or how much they had. I don’t think it had to do with payroll either.
  20. Looking at the year by year payroll, the Padres could easily afford Machado, but I heard something about the debts ownership has, though I’m not sure how much that impacts their ability to sign Machado since I don’t know the exact dollar amounts we are talking. I also am curious of how their offer is better than the White Sox at $250,000,000 for 8 years if it is $280,000,000 for 8 years with money deferred. Not to mention to taxes involved. Couldn’t the Sox counter with $280,000,000 million guaranteed and opt outs?
  21. One dead, I think in addition to the shooter who was killed.
