QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 11:05 PM) I'm not watching. Was this Hendricks fault or the bullpen? Hendricks wasn't sharp but Edwards help bust it open by walking Darvish.

Read this on CNN this morning and was saddened to know it was someone I remember playing for my favorite team. Rest in peace Daniel Webb.

QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Oct 14, 2017 -> 04:55 PM) Ex White Sox continue to produce for the Yankees this postseason. Robertson, Kahnle, and Frazier all look great. Hopefully the Sox got fair value in that trade. Since no cash was involved, Frazier's deal was up at the end of the year and the goal was to tank, I think it was. But it depends on the return's performance.

QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Oct 13, 2017 -> 12:09 AM) Dodgers are going to pummel the Cubs. They have no chance. This is not the same Dodger team as last year. They have a legit 3 headed monster, and a bullpen to back it up. Oh and they can score f***ing runs! What a concept. Let's hope you're right. I think the Cubs will repeat, unfortunately. Luck is with them again.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 8, 2017 -> 01:39 AM) Well this is absolutely horse s***. Agreed, it is like saying female reporters are all about social issues. Also, what do most guys think?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) To put it simply, was Goff wrong in that segment? And was Chuck given a fair shake to talk? Just curious because people seem to think the show is too liberal.
-
Did anyone hear Chuck from St. Charles on the Bernstein and Goff show the other day? The dude was extremely prejudice and borderline racist and Goff went off on him. Goff has been off the air since but I confirmed with him on Twitter that he hasn't been suspended. Take a listen. Of course, this lit off a bunch of firecrackers with people on Facebook and on the text line, people who are probably too afraid to call in with uneducated and ignorant viewpoints.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 07:59 AM) I love when they interview Steve Stone and occasional Sox players. The Steve Stone ones are especially good listens. They had Davidson on the other day and he was also a good listen.

I am going tomorrow to see Moncada play and outside of my birthday and bachelor party, it will be the only games I attend this year. I see two tickets to tomorrow's game in section 103 (row 4) for $35 each and two in section 107 (row 9) for $32 each on StubHub. If anyone has better seats than that for $40 or so, please let me know. I always buy discounted tickets as there's no reason to pay full price. StubHub and coupon codes off the White Sox website instantly make going to games more affordable. I'll be going to more next year when some more prospects will be up. I have a feeling when the kids are up in 2019 the season ticket holders will be back and the fans will follow suit.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:40 PM) I prefer B&G to W&S, but I do occasionally get tired of the Cubbie laying it on thick attitude. Does Dave Wischnowsky ever say anything intelligent? I get sick of the flagship Cubbies promotions that they have to do. Sometimes the interviews aren't good, so I switch to ESPN radio 1000 to see what Jurko and the guys talk about. Bernstein can get old after awhile even though he's insightful.

BIG PELF TO THE RESCUE!!! July 27th Game Thread: White Sox

Are you guys really that surprised by any of this? -
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 07:21 PM) De Falco confirmed this and someone- literally no clue who he is- says Q gets dealt tomorrow Who the f*** do the ESPN radio guys know to confirm anything? All they do is talk about the Cubs, just like 670. (Off topic but there's no place to listen to anything about the White Sox in this town.)

QUOTE (bobryansson @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) Watched him live last night. Given the prospects already here, drafts, and others for players that can go, I think the "start to be good" window opens at 2019 and "compete for titles" at 2020. I think Q can contribute in those years more than can whoever the White Sox can get for him. You/we/I all know the arguments both ways and that it's been discussed here a lot already. I just had to put my $.02 in here. He was impressive. Working the curve in Coors? Crazy. I thought about them keeping him too, but they are rebuilding. He's an absolute bargain, but they need to rebuild and get more position players back for him. It's time to go into full blown rebuild and bring up the young guys. He could become a liability if we keep holding on to him and he doesn't perform or gets hurt.

My condolences - maybe you could write Brooks Boyer and they could track one down for you.

A question that I am struggling with is, what message about the future would sit well with moderate republicans or with blue collar workers? Do the blue collar workers really believe that the jobs of the past are coming back or that Mr. Trump will put them back to work? Or could they be persuaded that retraining for jobs in their area that won't be automated? Does a message about tech jobs and future careers excite them, or do jobs of the past excite them, regardless of if they come back or not?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 12:55 AM) So basically tech incubator/s, maker's space....whatever you prefer to term it? Yes - using empty retail outlets in Downers Grove to be tech incubators, shared workspaces or even just offices for new startups and small businesses.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 06:09 PM) So the anti-Amazon/Wal-Mart? How to drive demand/traffic? What niche are you going after...or you're trying to create a new market for certain products? What can you offer, other than subsidized/lower rents? I haven't thought it all the way through, but basically if brick and mortar stores are closing and people aren't flocking to create retail businesses, why not provide incentives to have startups and entrepreneurs take those empty retail locations? It's just a thought, even though Illinois is in the financial state it is in. In other words, make Downers Grove a place for startups like San Francisco and Chicago.
-
Go back to school to get a master's degree in secondary education, take courses in journalism and get my data science certificate (I am pursuing this in the fall). Buy a house, car and invest the rest in a startup scene in empty retailers in Downers Grove while I go find work in something that doesn't pay but is something I would love to do. Money can't buy you happiness, but what can happiness buy you?

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 07:26 PM) Well said. I'm very very independent myself. I know this isn't a popular opinion on here but I still maintain that the Clinton campaign used the Russia hacking situation as a distraction from the somehow ignored conspiracy against Sanders. That deflection has become this huge thing and I would bet my house that nobody on Trump's team including Trump is/was acting as some kind of Agent for Russia. A lot of people have already suffered and been smeared because of this. I don't like Trump but I want him to be able to get to work being President without all this baggage. Some of his ideas are bold and I'd like to see him get his shot. But it's not a good thing for America if the deck is stacked against the President, no matter who it is. Trump's gotta do his part and shut up about it too. Like you said, at some point let's get back to working on America. A whole ton of people didn't like Obama's lack of any leadership position prior to becoming President but he still got his shot. His legacy is Donald Trump like it or not. As an independent myself, sure, I'll let him get to work, even if I don't like him. But his policies and agenda aren't working for all Americans, like he had promised he would work for everyone on election night. I doubt he gets impeached, but I would like to see things get done in congress that aren't just a republican agenda. I wish there were more independents and moderates that worked together and everything wasn't so partisan, but I am probably in the minority here.

I don't mind losing, but we can't keep having guys like Quintana, Robertson and Frazier perform poorly. It hurts the acceleration of the rebuild.
-
We better hope he returns to form by the deadline and they can move him for something to move the rebuild forward. Otherwise we need a solid year the rest of the season and they need to trade him in the offseason. Sonny Gray kicked ass and looks like the better value right now. Darkish too. I hope they do deal Robertson though. As far as I am concerned, they need a 3B, C, and OF in some transactions over the next year or so.

I recently listened to ESPN radio 1000 in the afternoon on the TuneIn radio app and noticed how bad some of those shows are from a learning standpoint compared to Bernstein and Goff. I do think that B&G gets old after some time and even to an extent the morning show on 670, but that might be because of the fact it is the Cubs flagship station and heading the Go Cubs Go song and World Series highlights gets old after several hours of listening. I do like the humor on the afternoon show on AM 1000 and their transition is better. I grew up with McNeil, Jurko and Harry and loved them, the show that was on before them in that slot with Lou Connelis (who is unbearable on Fox now) and also enjoyed McNeil and Spiegel as well.
