  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2017 -> 09:25 AM) http://www.insideradio.com/people_moves/ma...ee01fa52dd.html 16 years... CBS Radio sports “The Score” WSCR (670) Chicago producer/anchor Matt Abbatacola leaves the station after 16 years. According to Chicago media reporter Robert Feder, Abbatacola was passed over earlier this year for the co-host position with Dan Bernstein when Terry Boers retired in January. That position went to midday host Jason Goff who is now paired with Bernstein in afternoons. “The Score” operations manager Mitch Rosen confirmed Abbatacola’s exit telling Feder, “I wish him nothing but the best.” Damn, there goes my can't do it with Spiegel - "With the recent shuffle of shows at 670 the Score, which promoted Nick Shepkowski and relegated Matt Abbatacola to update duties, do you find that to be a fair move by management?"
  2. Can we just make the consensus to call him Robert or Ro-beart instead of Ro-bear until the White Sox confirm the name? Or are we going to be like that dumbass stoner Danny Parkins and say Ro-bear (like Voltaire)?
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 20, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) Did anyone ever clarify how to pronounce his name? Spiegel and Parkins kept saying Ro-bear until Rick Camp or Jay Zawaski said a Baseball America writer says "Robert."
  4. Can someone provide a link to his instagram account? Do the Cardinals have a history of bringing in Cuban ballplayers like the Sox do?
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 6, 2017 -> 09:23 AM) I guess it's what a rebuilding process looks like He's got a decent scouting report but seems to have had some setbacks. I haven't paid close attention to him pitching but if I remember correctly he got lit up at least once this year. Maybe he'll slide to the bullpen when Shields or Rodon gets back instead of being sent back to Oakland.
  6. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ May 6, 2017 -> 08:44 AM) True, but the Sox can't send Dylan Covey down to the minors because he was a 'Rule 5 Draft' selection. Rules require that he stays with the MLB club for the entire season, or else he gets released and returned to his former organization (Oakland). The Sox can only send down Dylan Covey next season, like what happened to Adrian Nieto. . Would it be so terrible to do that, or would it just be better to keep him up here to tank and see what this kid has?
  7. Pros: - The Bears finally get what their fans want, a quarterback. - The Bears can continue tanking and draft with the picks next year, trying to shore up a defense and offense thirsty for playmakers. - Ryan Pace and John ? have to own this pick, Pace could be fired after ? is canned. - Kendall Wright, Markus Wheaton, Eddie Royal, Cameron Meredith and Kevin White can be thrown to. - Jordan Howard might get better as a result of this pick. - Look up third round picks since Lance Briggs, only Hroniss Grasu looks like the only good pick. Cons: - They still have depth issues in the secondary. - They gutted their draft picks this year. - San Francisco may not have gotten the Cleveland Browns to trade with them and fleeced the Bears.
  8. So much for seeing a good ballgame at my birthday game.
  9. I was going to say that the guys who have trade value had good games, but I realized that would be false as not all of them had good games. The offense is brutal.
  10. I'm late to this party, but I want to be on the Tank for Beer party train. Can someone link me to a scouting report and tell me why he will go number one in the draft?
  11. Sucks to suck, team USA. Andrew Miller s*** the bed again.
  12. Robertson got out of a jam, looked good. Hopefully it helps his trade value.
  13. Does this mean no Leinenkugels?
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 4, 2017 -> 05:55 PM) He's joking Oh ok. I haven't spent too much time in here so I'm still figuring out what everyone thinks.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 4, 2017 -> 09:46 AM) Way too many negative nellies in here. Hoping to see an uptick of posts telling us how his approval ratings are improving and that we need to give him a chance since he's our President. Huh? I've tried to give him a chance but don't agree with his policies so it is hard to. To me, he is growing more ridiculous by the day. This Obama claim is hard to believe too.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 08:43 AM) http://money.cnn.com/2017/03/03/news/econo...jobs/index.html Trump voters in the Rust Belt want good jobs now Good luck to them, I don't think they'll ever see $30 an hour jobs again with automation hanging around. Maybe this will in fact hurt Trump in 2020.
  17. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 11:30 PM) Wait, he hasn't done anything he said he was going to do? How bout: We've been spending too much overseas and that's going to drastically change. Making preliminary moves like pushing NATO partners to pay more. Check. Illegals, especially criminal ones will be deported. Check. Already begun. Countries ripping us off with one sided tariffs are going are going to get them slapped on them too. In the works. Lots of progress in his first weeks on the job. Mans a workaholic so get ready for a lot steady progress each month. More investment in infrastructure and military. In the works. I didn't say he hasn't done anything he said he was going to do. Of course he will make good on some of what he promised, but it will be interesting to see how his major promises will come to fruition. Where is he going to get the money to pay for the infrastructure project? How will he beef up the military without raising the deficit? How will he bring the manufacturing jobs back in the long term with automation? I don't see how he will broaden his supporters...the only way he gets another term is if he makes things happen and gets enough people to support his actions. Or if the Democrats don't get their crap together. And to Greg - I could give two s***s about his "optimism."
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 10:17 PM) There is no way to do all of the things he promised, but since maybe 50% more are Democrat ideas, Im kind of confused as to what team I am supposed to be cheering for. I get that I dont want to pay more taxes, while I also want cheaper better healthcare, infrastructure improvements and cheaper/better child care. I just dont understand how we are going to pay for it. Yep, how are we going to pay for it? How will they reduce the deficit? How did Ryan and McConnell just say it was a great speech and remain mum on how to pay for it? My direct question to him and his supporters would be, "even if the manufacturing jobs did come back, how would they withstand automation? Have you heard of automation and do you know what the impact is?" It is because of automation that I am going back to school for data science so that my job won't be automated in the future. They should consider these fair questions and even consider retraining or investing in green energy jobs, because the fossil fuel won't be around forever, just like the coal.
  19. Regardless of this being early in his presidency, the impression that I get is "all talk and no action." Prove yourself or shut up Mr. Populist.
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 06:09 PM) OT, but there really is nothing like an energized Comiskey. Only happens a few times a year now. For me, the last pure "this is awesome" feeling I got due to the energy was Frazier's big 3-run blast against the Cubs last season. You're right, it's great when it is packed or at least energized. It's so lame when nobody cheers when we should be loud and they use their programming to get people pumped up. I always need to check and see if someone is looking at their phone or has a pulse next to me at the game.
  21. I'll be there, even though I think the Sox will bring blasts from the pasts back for ticket sales purposes. I went to Konerko's last game, the World Series 10 year reunion and Konerko's jersey retirement ceremony - the place was packed and actually energized for a change.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/paul...ia-trump-235275 Manafort faced blackmail attempt by Ukrainian lawmaker regarding dealings with Russia Media/press much more well-trusted than Trump... http://money.cnn.com/2017/02/22/media/trum...piac/index.html There is also a profound split between college-educated white voters and non-college-educated white voters, with the former trusting the media more (55% to 37%) and the latter trusting Trump more (also 55% to 37%). While white voters are generally split on the trust question, preferring the media by 46% to 45%, nonwhite voters trust the media far more, with 68% expressing trust in the media versus just 18% expressing trust for Trump. .... It also suggests that Trump's attacks on the media -- he recently called them the "enemy of the American people" -- have drawn clear battle lines among the American public. "The media, so demonized by the Trump administration, is actually a good deal more popular than President Trump," said Tim Malloy, the assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. Hopefully more white voters don't vote Trump next time and gravitate to someone the Dems put out whose name is not Clinton. I trust the media more than Trump. And I don't know why he is talking tax cuts with all of the proposed spending. It's "harrible" as he says. "Only I know more about it than them, believe me" as he says.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 05:12 PM) Republicans running scared of doing any more town halls...I guess that's one approach, just to never put yourself in a position to answer questions publicly except through less media-friendly conference calls. http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/13/politics/rep...ents/index.html What's wrong GOP? Are you too thin skinned like your Overlord?
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 11, 2017 -> 09:29 AM) Rum Bunter ‏@rumbunter 12h12 hours ago More Pirate prospects in Baseball America's new top 100: 6 - Austin Meadows 22 - Mitch Keller 23 - Tyler Glasnow 35 - Josh Bell 55 - Kevin Newman Rum Bunter ‏@rumbunter 1h1 hour ago More @rbrockets They offered 3 top 50 overall prospects, another one of their top 10 prospects, a current MLB SP, and another current MLB player I don't believe this for one second I think that's bulls***, Hahn would have accepted that trade if it were the case.
  25. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 04:37 PM) So is Trump saying he plans on drafting a newer, shinier travel ban that he will sign next week? I still don't know why he hasn't just passed things through congress instead. He could keep signing EO's but of course they'll be challenged. (Not that they couldn't be in congress.) Let's see what Tweetler does, hopefully nothing too mainstream that will make him popular, as I am enjoying his unfavorable rating and general public perception.
