I remember hugging my mom right after the last out at home and getting a call from my dad who was in CT on business and hanging with Red Sox and Yankees fans. Our title did exist and was as legitimate as the Cubs title. I hope that in this new era of baseball we will get back to the playoffs and win one again. Maybe a Northsiders WS win will prompt old Jerry to open his wallet or think smarter to get another win. When they win, maybe we can say welcome to the club and the razzing between fan bases can calm a bit...even if it is wishful thinking.

QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 10:57 PM) The Sox don't need to rebuild and can't right now. The Cubs are building an NL dynasty and half the Sox fan base will switch over instead of watching a rebuild. The problem isn't that they need to rebuild. They need to hire people who know what they are doing in the front office and quality coaches with positive previous experience. I highly doubt that Sox fans would jump ship and go to the Northside. For the record for all of you talking about the Fowler acquisition - my intent was to show that they originally acquired him through a trade.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) As I've often said they are between a rock and a hard place with no clear answer or direct path until or unless (in my opinion) new ownership arrives or the existing ownership purges the front office on the baseball side and brings in successful people from completely outside "the family..." Your points are good ones but again, do you trust this front office who put the franchise in this position in the first place to dig them out of it? And by front office I also include the people in charge of minor league talent / development and major league scouting. Mark I don't trust them, but if we wait for JR to die and have the team sold for the team to be rebuilt, then it's going to take a long time to get into the postseason. I would rather them get started on the rebuild than be mired in mediocrity and keep acquiring has beens.

I went through the entire Cubs roster today and through all of the transactions that brought these players to their organization. 9 trades yielded Wood, Rizzo, Hendricks, Grimm, Edwards, Arrieta, Strop, Russell, Montero, Fowler and Chapman. The draft, free agency and two international signings yielded mostly the rest. So, is the issue really the scouting and development of the White Sox organization, or is it JR's "win now" philosophy? I'd say both, but I can't see the Sox succeeding for years to come unless they start the rebuild. I look at our roster and see a talent shortage compared to other teams and would hope that they'd be able to rebuild by dealing the veterans and getting rid of some of mediocre players on the team. I'd hope they'd realize that they can't keep grinding out these one run games and win with a patched up team like this. They've got to get an influx of talent to compete. You've got to think they should be able to flip players like Sale, Quintana, Robertson, Abreu, Frazier, Cabrera (okay, maybe it's a stretch) and even Eaton and get enough talent to get something going. Would doing that really hurt the organization and move the team? I can't see them becoming that bad...they might even be more exciting and less frustrating to watch. I'll take watching some miscues and losses over seeing major league ballplayers who lose winnable games (KC, Texas, Seattle) and get s*** on by the division all year any day of the week.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 22, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Just follow the Cubs blueprint. Find a new owner who gives a top baseball mind a truckload of money and stays the hell out of his way. Easy enough, right? I mean, it should work, right? Wish they'd start the rebuild and get bad before they get good. Maybe when JR dies...I can't imagine how he thinks he could possibly win im the next decade with the current philosophy.

Hope they get their World Series over with and teams start to figure them out. Otherwise it'll be a rough decade as Sox fans. We will have no response for their insults.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) Man, would y'all stfu about Cubs fans. Who cares what they say on twitter or FB or at the bar or what f***ing ever. This team is god-like. They're going on a Braves-like run and ain't s*** anybody can do about it. I'll never openly root for the Cubs but them winning it all might force that other Chicago team to not be awful at just about every aspect of baseball. It's easier said than done, dude. What will you say to the assholes of the fan base when they will hum for years and years about this and the dynasty for years to come? I am not one who is going to take it and will have to say something instead of get s*** on for the next decade. The team is fine (not a fan of three of the players antics) but I know I'll need something to point out how big of jackasses people are. It won't have anything to do with baseball but it will have logic and facts to show how big of assholes some people can be.

s***...not good. Trouble a brewin'.

It made me remember why they traded Gillaspie in 2015. He struggled, that's why.

I recently moved from Chicago to the suburbs (DuPage County) and sent in my change of address form into the election commission office. I did so in August and when I called last Friday they said they had sent me my voters registration card in the mail in September. I will look for it this week in the mail, but should I be concerned about not being able to vote since I don't have my voters registration card yet and the state's deadline is tomorrow?

QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 9, 2016 -> 10:22 PM) That was the biggest WTF moment of the night to me. It should get the most discussion of anything said. Apparently he could do that, but it seemed more like a threat than anything else.

QUOTE (RegionSox @ Oct 9, 2016 -> 09:51 PM) All the analysts seem to think Trump won. Not one mention of him threatening to put Hilary in jail. How is that possible? Will him "winning" push people to vote for him?
-
Is Gimgrich right with what he's saying about Trump? Is he holding his own and did he "win the debate?"
-
God I hope she "wins" the debate so maybe he can get out of this race. I don't know that I could stand seeing him as president.
-
Should Clinton have addressed her husband or is that taking the bait? Did Clinton mess up by saying what she did about the republicans are abandoning him or is Trump just crying about her emails like a coach crying about a call in a sporting event?
-
Is anyone watching the Sunday night football game instead of the debate tonight? The sound bites will be posted tomorrow is my rationale. And it'll be more of the same.

Did you all see the new Rizzo meme that said, "Hey Sox fans! It's ok to root for us. We need all of Chicago behind us. Let's make history together!" Are they making fun of us or is this real?

QUOTE (brett05 @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) You liberals are so funny. Give me Donald time and time again over a Hillary Clinton. It's not even close. But keep the attacks up. I'm a moderate voting for Clinton and two republicans in Illinois and I'll still keep my attacks up against Biff Tannen every day of the week.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) My best friend...the man and his father that I named my son after...two very intelligent, rational, reasonable, good people....actually support Trump. It has more to do with the state of our political system than with the candidate they support. At least that's what I keep telling myself. I would go so far to say that I would rather see a Cubs World Series than President Trump. The two party system isn't a good thing and neither is the gridlock in Washington. I am actually voting republican in Illinois so there are people who can stand up to Michael Madigan. I am not big on Hillary but my conscience won't allow me to vote for Trump as well as my head.
-
Is any other voter terrified of Donald Trump becoming President? It seems more and more possible as each day goes by. It's rather frightening, if you ask me...and I am an independent voting for both sides this election.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 06:17 AM) Lmao called it. So this dude was bluffing the whole time?
-
Frankly I don't really care. I'm still voting for her instead of Biff Tannen. What could be so damaging to middle of the road voters that would make her be "done?"

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) Jimmy Johnson putting nails in Cutler's coffin with the Bears sitting at 7 points in the first half. Seems about right. Jimmy Johnson is an old fool. Cutler may be back before the year is over.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 05:07 AM) If you bought into his transition to a moderate Republican and stripped away all of his extreme viewpoints and statements over the years. He seemed more on point regarding economic solutions and uplifting the middle class than most of his fellow Republicans. I've voted on both sides of the aisle and really was looking to vote for someone that could work across party lines to get things done. I can accept that politicians change their minds and some will say what they will to get elected. I just felt like Kasich was the adult in the room during the republican debates and had much more substance to his arguments and policies than the brash GOP nominee did. I'm not really looking forward to having to vote for one party for president and the other party for the state elections, but like the Northsiders winning the World Series, it is what it is.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 01:21 AM) Does Trump actually have any supporters? He's going to lose in a landslide. The sad thing is some Americans think Hillary is just as bad as Trump and I am one of them. She is no better. Our country couldn't come up with better candidates?? There was a better candidate - his name was John Kasich.
