No really Rick Hahn, you've truly outdone yourself with this move! 27 year old depth for the pen. Bad ERA last year, was better in previous years.

I want actual links showing how big of an arse Youkilis was. Also, saw the Moustakas wish lists on Facebook, why the hard on for this guy unless we dumped Floyd to get him?

QUOTE (champs2005 @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 09:09 AM) I hate Thunderstruck and most of the crap music they play during the game. So much of it is old and stale. And too loud as well. I say start fresh with the in-game music and tone it down. So what if some die-hards get offended. The Sox need to make NEW fans and all these tired old crap songs from the oldies bin are not appealing to new fans. Except for "Let's Go White Sox" by Captain Tubby of course. That is great! I happen to hate "Let's Go White Sox" and feel energized by "Thunderstruck." Everything else sucks. And no this will not help attendance it was just my suggestions. I have never felt the music is too loud, but I do think they need more common songs. Went to Cardinals games and even though I was down south, everyone liked Chicken Fried when Matt Holliday came up to the plate. I still do not understand the hate for Thunderstruck and why we should get rid of the current intro -- it's my favorite tradition at the stadium.

Get rid of the bands they have outside the main gate and the gate across the street. Unless the contract is huge, get rid of the guys offering vacations outside of the park. Leave the Pirates of the Carribean video at the beginning and keep "Thunderstruck." It's a little loud but that intro gets fans pumped up and on their feet before the game. Some of the promotions are crap during the game, and the handouts before the game aren't as worth it (save for the $1 off Aldi's milk).

Would you be interested in any health care careers? They are still thriving despite the legislation and some even only need an associate's degree. Just a thought.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) Lol theres not much life I can live right now with no job....Having weed in my system is a legit, albeit a dumb, excuse I have right now as far as a job goes and me going out and living life. Do you have a pair of running shoes? If you want to get in shape, I suggest running and walking if you can't run. I found running to be extremely therapeutic after my breakup. I also wrote in a journal that helped me get feelings out without telling everyone them. If you find a local free running club then you might be able to meet new people for free and have a little more social life. Just a suggestion if you can run pain free. I surprisingly did not have to pee in a cup at my new job. At my old job half the staff would not pass the drug test since they were all happy to be on pot.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) She was actually sick with a cold on our first date but still went out anyway. It got worse last night so I made her stay in while we did a corn maze because I didn't want her out in the cold, and I think she was resting instead of coming out for drinks later. I'm gonna go see her in a bit and make her get up out of bed. Or I can climb into bed. Either is honestly good with me. So you got her cold from a first date kiss, lost it before the second date and she was still sick? Smooth move ya bastard. I'll drink to your last sentence. In reference to the other poster, I wanted to let you know that I've been there. Dated a girl for 3 1/2 years and felt depressed, had thoughts of what the hell do I do since my first love left me and such...part of why you can't get your mind off her is because you probably have an idle mind. Exercising will help if you need to clear your head. There are plenty of women out there and once you are employed again, you should definitely go after one in your condo complex.

Are any of you concerned that revenue will tumble with the red line being worked on next summer? It's definitely going to complicate things for me to get down to the ballpark from the loop.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2012 -> 12:04 PM) Serious question here. $100+m payroll with prices where they are now, or $75 million with cheaper parking and top end tickets? Higher payroll with guys that don't have Adam Dunn's or Alex Rios' salary or duration of deals. Slightly OT, but the Sox really need to groom someone to play first when Paulie leaves/retires.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 13, 2012 -> 11:44 AM) Good for you. You sound like you're in a much better spot than you were a year or 2 ago, and you'll find the right one eventually. Wite, did you get a second date with the girl you had mentioned previously? The first date sounded like it went well.

I've been told my choice in women is pretty shallow but that I'm also a good guy. Not sure how that makes sense. Basically I'm 6'2 and 190 lbs and want a girl who will work out and take care of herself. She's also got to be outgoing, friendly, confident and not a valley girl. I'm not a blonde girl kind of guy and I have to trust her. I think what people think I demand is the whole "must have nice tits, flat stomach and be athletic and toned" look, which is sort of true, but not at the same time. Since I had a major breakup a few years ago, I tried to go to bars with friends without expectations and just see where things went. I found I couldn't pickup women there but I could at house parties. My senior year I had plenty of hookups (legendary trips to Bradley, ISU and Iowa had good results) and that continued into the summer when I found someone I actually liked. There was some initial attraction but she said there wasn't enough of a spark even if the sex was great. That lead to me being friend zoned and ultimately to Match.com. I've been on countless first dates (some good, some bad -- like a girl who got me in her car and hooked up with me there), met plenty of new people and even dated a girl for 3-4 months. It's the greatest place to find someone with the same interests, take them out on a date to see if they are compatible and the easiest way to get to know someone. It's a lot cheaper paying for a subscription for 3 months as opposed to going to the bar and buying a round for a girl and her friends, only to have them walk away from you. Still looking for a relationship but I am definitely trying to better myself (move out since I've gotten a new job, workout to stay healthy and try new things).

I took all of the negative media attention and Cubs fans harping on Sox fans for not going to games (while the team was in first place) to heart and stepped it up this year. Went to 25 games, which is more than I had in previous years. At the time I started doing this, I was working at a startup making pennies. How did I make this happen? Organize group outings: I'd meet my friends or family out after work and make sure that someone drove so I could get home. There's no easy solution to get back to the suburbs without a ride. The only way it could work is if I parked next to the Cell early that morning, took the train to work and then took the train back for the game. But that's inconveniencing the fan. So I would pitch to my family and friends that it was a good pitching matchup, nice weather and tickets were cheap. We went and had a blast even if they got their asses kicked by KC. Advertise reduced ticket prices, coupon codes/change the slogan: Marketing slogans usually don't make sense, but "Appreciate the game" did not fit this season as I thought it would in April. If our fan base is comprised of families, why did I not see families and plenty of young groups at the games on the weekends, weeknights and whenever I went late in the season? Offer the reduced ticket prices for people buying more than 4 tickets like someone had mentioned earlier in the thread. Also a big reason why I could go to so many games this year is because the tickets were discounted from coupon codes. Educate the fans on this, or maybe showcase the poster who went to 50 Sox games for under $500...it's a great idea. Get rid of the lame promotions throughout the game: The notion of getting rid of the start with Thunderstruck and Pirates of the Carribean is crazy. That's the only time, especially when there's more than 25,000 there, that I feel the ball park is energized. Educate the fans on when to get up and cheer (like a 1-2 count when Peavy is in a jam) or when Dunn's up and we desperately need a base hit to tie the game or pull ahead, because most people will remain quiet and sit on their ass. I realize this isn't a Bears game but getting loud and making some real noise as opposed to that lame ticker is real cool. The promotions between innings are sort of random and annoying. Some are good (dancing, kid hitting the home run and hat trick game is cool) but most of the other ones suck. Reduce parking to $22 and $20, always offer $10 upper deck tickets and $25 corner tickets Let's say I get free tickets or discounted tickets and go to the game. I obviously have to drive because it's going to be a late night, especially with how slow Floyd is to the plate. Parking is actually more expensive than the tickets themselves, so I end up not buying food at the park if I'm going with friends. Bottom line, parking is a bit annoying at $25 and $23. A lot needs to be changed, but it's up to KW and Brooks Boyer to make the fan experience better. Also I'll never become a White Sox season ticketholder. It's just more convenient to walk up and get tickets when I want to as opposed to make that much of a commitment with the possibility of missing games.

Got a new job and will be on salary and receive benefits after a 60 day probationary period. Got phone screened two weeks ago, interviewed a week ago and heard yesterday. Now I just have to inform my employer I'll be leaving. Either they'll keep me on until next Friday or fire me on the spot.

Farmer said the crowd was almost all Detroit fans. Not sure where he got that. Youkilis should not have been ordered to bunt. The score should have gotten up to as high as 8-3 but the bullpen showed some cold veins and surrendered minimized the damage. Velverde is a s*** head. Also section 152 row 23 on the aisle sucks. Too many idiots standing up in their seats talking to friends, people constantly walking up and down the aisle and two assholes fighting caused people to stand and make everyone else miss half the inning. Obnoxious.

At the game in section 163. The attendance today is truly embarrassing.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 04:31 PM) A lot would depend on how far you are from the stadium. Who wants to fight the traffic home on a night game that's on a holiday. I would prefer a day game. It's about a 40 minute drive from my house in Downers Grove to the stadium. If the game was to end around 9 and I got home around 9:30, then I'd be there. When I was thinking about the game time today, I thought it would have been much better to have a 1:05 game today. Though they probably were concerned about nobody coming out or finding enough people to work the game.

After reading today's stupid article, I was real close to going. But home cooking and a comfy couch sounds better than sitting outside after doing yard work in a hot day. That said, I will be going with my old man to the Detroit series next week on Monday or Tuesday.

Just read an article by Ted Gregory about the Cubs outdrawing the Sox: Cubs outdraw Sox (nothing new) What do you guys think about this?

I don't post a ton on Soxtalk like I did initially (still can't believe some of the crap I used to say) but this board has grown to my number one source of information on the White Sox. So glad I moved from Whitesox.com's message board, got banned from WSI and was lead to Soxtalk. @JoshPR BeastlyOrdonez exists , and I was just thinking of Old Roman. Didn't he post a picture of himself on the board?

Motivate Your Chicago White Sox!!!
The Beast replied to The Ultimate Champion's topic in Pale Hose Talk
For a team expected to lose 90 games, they sure have made something of the season. But with inevitable changes looming, they will need to win this division and compete in the first round for it not to completely be a disappointment. Let's beat Mr Perfect Verlander himself, make Miggy looks like he's smoking dope and beat Detroit tomorrow by its unemployment level. -
8/26 Mariners at White Sox
The Beast replied to Swingandalongonetoleft's topic in 2012 Season in Review
People are still filing in, I can't determine when the game is starting standing outside of gate 5.
