I'd hire Sandberg to piss off the Cubs fans. "Your team sucked so bad their own alumni didn't want to manage the ballclub!" Alomar, Jr. would interest me but I think the job goes to D-Martinez. And I am one of the ones who voted Francona (since he has slight ties to the organization).

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 11:09 PM) Haha, some gems in there. Ace? Mark Buehrle has struggled to be a #1 pitcher over the last few years. He's surely no ace. Productive season for Pierre? It was "acceptable" at best. Terrorist? Jesus H. Christ... Notice the quotes around "ace." What numbers do you expect out of your leadoff man compared to Pierre? The part thanking Ozzie and about terrorists isn't in there. But sometimes with how this country does crap I feel the same way (see the Bush "I screwed you, but thanks for blaming it on the black guy" avatar). Nevermind. Thanks Ozzie.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 11:04 PM) Rotoworld: According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf is expected to consider Tony La Russa and Buddy Bell for the team's managerial vacancy. I think I am going to be sick if they bring in either of those guys. Just replace Guillen with Dave Martinez and call it a day.

Per my Facebook post: Like an innocent man on death row, the White Sox got the wrong man tonight. Kenny Williams, your table is ready. You have already committed $89 million to 11 players next year & your "ace" is pitching tomorrow in his "last" game. Your leadoff hitter might leave the team after a productive season. Do your job and make Chicago proud or get out & be looked down upon. As Guillen said, it was the players that won 2005 - not him (or you for that matter). Thanks for the memories Ozzie. Maybe they'll get the real terrorist next time.

And that, my friends, is a White Sox season

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) Excellent point. Guys, this rebuilding stuff is a horrible myth. You retool with smart baseball people in charge. For instance you CQ haters are crazy. The outfield MUST be Viciedo, DeAza and CQ out there. That means SOMEHOW you dump Rios. Even if you have to pay the whole contract. We will keep Dunn and PRAY he can hit 30 homers somehow, but to POSSIBLY contend, that should be our outfield. That is not a total rebuild. Pieces are there. Then we got Morel, Lexi, Becks and Paulie in the infield. NOT BAD if the new hitting coach can help Morel, Lexi and Becks some. Yes Lexi needs some help, too. Catcher: AJ and Flowers is OK, though AJ better agree to a reduced load. Flowers is ready. That could be a problem. Trade one of Danks/Floyd (is Danks a free agent) and trade Beckham if you have to. You can always find a second baseman somewhere. Our strengths with CQ and Dayan will be outfield and infield and hopefully starting pitching. Keep as many proven pitchers as you can. Try to get more reliable bullpen guys. A total rebuild though is dumb. Do you want to dump the entire pitching staff for some reason? You do what the Yankees do. Use free agency baby. Try to catch lightning in a bottle. Total rebuilding is idiotic. It may take 15 years. Why MUST the White Sox have Carlos Quentin in the outfield? Why can't the outfield be De Aza, Rios and Viciedo? I thought there were plenty of people who supported trading Quentin on this site? -

I am sure we will be seeing plenty of "Here's what I would do for 2012" threads in the future but I just looked at a payroll spreadsheet. I had no idea that the Sox had put more money on the back of Dunn's contract and that he and Rios are here till 2014. I can't see their value being raised to the point where the Sox could actually trade them as they will be older then and own no-trade clauses. Is it realistic to think that the Sox will be shopping this winter to dump Quentin and Thornton while letting Pierre and Buehrle walk? As much as I believe Buehrle could continue pitching as well as he has into his mid 30s, I doubt he would be able to take a paycut or stay here for a hometown discount especially when he has always been rumored to go back to St. Louis. Why is it unrealistic to Guillen that Lillibridge couldn't play every day in right field? Does he not have the range to throw runners out? Will he just hit poorly since the pitchers will pick up on him in the scouting reports? Stating my position clearly, it would be great to get rid of both KW and Ozzie and replace them with Hahn and somebody other than that drunken assclown LaRussa (and please, not Bobby Valentine). Go young next year and play the guys who could succeed or fail at lower dollar amounts than some of the clowns we have played this past season. -

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 05:41 PM) I absolutely hate paying student loans when my degree hasn't got me a job in the 15 months since graduating. Out of money as well. This f***ing blows. Even when I apply for s***ty retail and restaurant jobs they hire someone else because I'm overqualified. It may be too late, but you might be able to find a paid internship at this point on indeed.com. I knew I wasn't going to get a full-time position without relevant experience so that's why I chose to just hit the internships hard. Search paid internships in your area or Chicago and see what comes up. It wouldn't hurt.
-
I applied for 32 internships, sent out 2 letters and applied for 8 part-time jobs. My part-time search yielded 1 part-time job that went poorly (manager wasn't even ready for me to come and interview), another hiring manager didn't call me back and plenty others didn't say anything. I am on all of the major websites for full-time positions but it would be hard to get up to do something when that isn't what I want to do. So since I am covered on insurance, I figured I would take two of the four internships that got back to me (one paid, one unpaid) and work for [Company removed] and Wilks PR doing PR/Social Media/Marketing related work. Then I'll build up my resume and try and get a full-time position either at these small companies or get in somewhere else since they can't argue that I have the experience. I start the two internships on Tuesday and Wednesday, totalling around 50 hours a week of work - but I am not complaining, I am thrilled!

The Bears are only 6 percent under the minimum of where they need to be for the new salary cap rules. Why give it to an aging veteran when they could give it to Forte or another young, core player? -
I saw a guy in the upper deck wearing a WSI shirt and I wanted to get up in his face and say, "your moderators are nazis" without being too serious. Then again, I would definitely buy a soxtalk.com t-shirt if there ever was such a thing. But I doubt we would want that much exposure and take on the idiot callers that make Bernstein's show funny/a mess each day.

I like this promotion, Marty. I would buy a beer for the first person that says, "Hey Ross" to me at Section BOX148, Row 22, Seats 6-8 tomorrow. You must be 21. I'm the only male there so I won't be hard to find. Also introduce yourself and say what your post name is. I could use some damage clean up from the earlier years around here and maybe for recent times when I constantly b****ed.

What would Obama cut to reduce the deficit and how do you guys feel about him being re-elected if you are a Democrat?
-
I am in a unique position at the moment. Seeing as though it is near impossible to get a full-time marketing coordinator or PR specialist position right now, I have decided to work two part-time internships (as part-time jobs are a b**** to get as well). Last week I interviewed with Perpetual Fitness Motion Corporation (Chicago) and Wilks Communications (Oak Park). Received offers from both places but Wilks Communications has longer hours (35 as opposed to 20) and is paid ($10/hour). On Friday I got an email from the Big Ten Network for a paid internship opportunity and CouponTrade also wants to interview me after receiving a writing sample and my resume. The problem isn't that I have these opportunities, but it is the timing in which they want someone to come work for them. I want to work at least 50 hours a week and receive some income but I have to respond by the end of the week to Wilks/PFMC. [Company removed] and BTN probably won't have a decision made by the end of the week. Should I see if either of the organizations I interviewed with already would extend offers to the following Monday? It is likely that I'll take the Wilks Communications offer and take one of the unpaid internships. Seems like a damned if I do, damned if I don't situation I have because of the timing that the offers were extended.

Would Obama - Clinton 2012 increase the likelihood that they win the election? Have presidents who are seeking re-election been known to switch running mates for the second time around?

Sox Did Not Put in a claim on Kubel or Thome
The Beast replied to The Ginger Kid's topic in Pale Hose Talk
KW on Kubel's claim: "LOL" -
If the Sox did work something out with Thome, what would they have to give up? Why not just offer to take on the salary from the Twins or give them $1 million to take him off their hands. Giving up players for him doesn't make much sense, especially when this team keeps losing.
-
Was told to come up with a promotion when I was with the Rams for their plates and they didn't seem too enthused about a donation going to Joplin, MO and them picking up the plates. And then I see this and think, if 200 Sox fans wanted these plates then there's got to be a way for another professional team to be able to get 200 drivers to do this. On topic...those are some bad ass plates.
-
Go ahead, DL Quentin and let those who have a woody for Viciedo rejoice. Too bad he's hurt too.

The internship concluded last Saturday as I was able to work a Rams/Colts pre-season game, go on the field, help out at half-time and sell Kids Club memberships. Overall, it was a pretty cool experience and it gives me something to talk about in an interview. I have sent out at least 30 applications to internships in PR and have heard back from Israel Idonijae's non-profit organization and Wilks Communications in Chicago and am scheduling calls with them next week. Crain's had a social media coordinator internship position that was already filled and discovered that Comcast Sportsnet's interns need to be in college so I can't intern there. About the only part-time jobs available are at Family Video, which I will probably end up interviewing for since other part-time gigs haven't called me back. Perhaps I need to broaden the scope a bit to try and get a full-time job, but it is tough when you can't separate spam from good on Monster, Careerbuilder and indeed. Its tough when very few organizations have the cash to invest in new graduates, but that is just the reality of today's economy. So I figured that a part-time job parted with a part-time internship would be better for me than doing a full-time job that won't help my career in the long run.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 12:24 AM) Really? I've tailgated in my Sebring by myself. The only reason I can think of why they were doing it is because it was the fourth of July and they anticipated lots of people bringing big trucks that wanted to tailgate. So maybe they gave the "large trucks only" reason to curb the amount of people in smaller cars tailgating that day. Either way the parking guy was being a deuche.
-
Definitely use the church lot as White Sox parking employees are generally dicks about their jobs. For example, my family tried parking a larger Mazda and we were told it was too small to tailgate from even though smaller cars were able to tailgate. A larger car that showed up later was given the same answer, "large cars only." Go to the church, that is probably best, unless you want to get hassled.
-
I turn to my right and with my left arm, I punch forward and let my right hand quickly punch to the right as the left retreats. And I do overemphasize the call at times but nobody really cares.

Inevitably, the Office. And ER died a bit earlier than I would have thought. Also, the Simpsons needs to die.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) Though I agree the Bears should be on lakefront, plenty of teams don't technically play in the large cities with which they are associated. That's true. I was exaggerating the point that the Bears should remain on the lakefront. Outside of the grass, I don't see much of a problem with Soldier Field. Most people like the old look of the stadium with the new additions inside.
