I just wanted to encourage all of you by telling you I think it is great that you all are doing this!

Let me see: In my Introduction to Speech and Communication class, I sit in the front, even though my professor is a hippy b**** that is ignorant. I sit next to the other geek in the class and the rest of the idiots sit on the other side of the room. It's a 1000 class, what do you expect? Stupid freshmen. In my English class I sit in the front and I like my professor so it definitely has an effect of where I sit---I actually participate in the class due to the lack of participation and intelligence in the class. See, in my lecture hall class of American Government, it's funny that you mentioned this thread, gentlemen. My professor said that he's definitely noticed how we all sit after the NIU crisis. He mentioned he got the department to change the blocked exits after NIU. He kicks people out of class for talking in the back. He allows students to get up and kick the desk of a student who sleeps. I love the class, I feel politically informed from it and I just love getting into debates with some idiots. The teacher is great---I don't think he knows about Soxtalk but he is openly a Sox fan from Paris, IL that travels by train to USCF. Anyway, I sit in the front 4 rows, the front 5 if my ex-roommate is in the 3rd row. I can't stand the kid, he probably left because I refused to talk to him. (Yes, Eastern Illinois University has a bunch of idiots who don't care all that much about their education, but about partying.) I sit in the middle of my Math class because then I can hide behind the big fat guy who sits in front of me. The teacher's lectures are boring, and I can't stand Mathematics: A Human Endeavor, but I'm doing decently in it. My major is English so this doesn't really matter for me other than it being a Gen Ed. I am assigned a seat for my Weather and Climate class. Dr. Khan is a psycho and probably suffers from a severe case of OCD since everything is in an orderly fashion. So, I sit in the front of the class for safety reasons, to decrease my chance for being distracted, and of course, because I like listening to some of my professors and getting a higher education than I did in my partially half assed high school, Downers Grove South.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) Anyone who says that's not hot is a liar. I don't think she's "hot." I'm not a liar either, anyone with baggage and makes overall changes to their body, to me, is ugly. It also means that the person taking off the clothes and doing these shots has no class and dignity. She can join Paris and Spears and skank it up, party and get drunk. I guess I'm just attracted to the non-materialistic, non-orange, non-makeup applied, simple natural beautiful women in this world. Yes, I've summed it down to my girlfriend. If I HAD to pick a celebrity, and you wanted "hot" (that word is stupid, why not use caliente instead?), try her: http://www.starkgossip.com/blog/wp-content...essica_biel.jpg

When are you handing out league assignments?
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 05:35 PM) Look at their roster. It's pretty self explanatory. Scraps. Crede is worth very little right now. I was reading a bit on Crede in the Trib today---when might we expect him to be dealt (if he is to be dealt)?
-
Why does Crede going to San Francisco make sense and what is everyone expecting to get for him in return?

Make a wild or bold predicition for the 2008 Sox
The Beast replied to santo=dorf's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The 2008 Chicago White Sox will go to the playoffs as the wild card team and lose in the game 7 of the ALCS. -
Man, Young must have had a pretty steady job in the off-season to play in the minor leagues. I wonder how big his family is, that's got to be pretty rough as a career.
-
1) Your relative level of experience---I've been playing since 2001. 2) Your preference in scoring format (head to head or roto)---H2H 3) Your previous league # and whether or not you want to play in that one again---I would play in wherever needed 4) Whether or not you'd be willing to be a commisioner (I'll do two, but I'd personally like to avoid doing 4 Soxtalk leagues again)---I would gladly be a commissioner. Just PM me or email me.

I'm with you man, they really rip you on parking. However, on Sundays, if you are willing to walk a few blocks, you can park for free in certain areas on the street. My family and I did this when my brothers, sisters and I were younger and it was kids day, so it only cost us about $30.00 total to go to the game---and that is with food, parking, tickets and the whole sha-bang combined.

I seriously would like to know what kind of deal both Butterball Bart and Kyle Lohse are expecting. I mean, who still needs high-risk pitchers. (Well, high risk in Lohse's part because of the duration and amount on his proposed contract. Bartolo is just an injury away waiting for another DL trip.) How has Colon looked in Winter Ball? I saw on ESPN Deportes he keeps surrendering runs to scrubs (or are some of these players there actually good?), but I guess Guillen saw otherwise in black Bart.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 08:55 PM) not even close. That was our overall playoff record. My mistake, that's what it was. Still, the one run games thing was my key stat. I knew I was unsure of that one run stat. Oh well, I tried.
-
QUOTE(Y2HH @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) Well said and agreed. It was also a big reason for starting that season with a lead (scoring first) in 50-something odd games, IIRC. My key stat for that title was the amount of games we won by 1 run. I believe we were 11-1 in those games in 2005.

Now that Santana is Traded To The Mets/ Go for Crisp
The Beast replied to Cleats67's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What do you guys think will become of Uribe come Opening Day? -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 08:48 AM) I am guessing a lot of the younger fans have been priced out of Soxfest... I haven't been to SoxFest in two years. It was sold out in 2006 and no one wanted to sell Friday tickets when I was able to go, so I didn't go then. I didn't go this year because I'm away at school at Eastern Illinois University. Money is usually never the issue for me.
-
QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jan 27, 2008 -> 08:06 AM) I'm surprised there isn't more information coming out of Soxfest. Where are the youtube videos? Where are the posts made live from the Soxfest? Would anyone like to share their pictures? I'm excited about the 2008 Sox and starved for some more baseball discussion. I too am surprised that there was absolutely no discussion from SoxFest.

sox working on extensions for both Jenks and Cabrera
The Beast replied to chisox2334's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What would the Sox pay Jenks in terms of an extension? -

I just remember seeing him come in last season with the bases loaded and striking out the side. I thought that was very cool. Thanks for that thrill, Aardsma.

QUOTE(bear_brian @ Jan 18, 2008 -> 09:09 AM) It seems like signing Dotel - and possibly signing Colon - give us more ammunition to swing a more major trade for a lead-off hitter, a centerfielder, or more pitching. Am thinking about one of the following: 1. Crede and MacDougal to the Brewers for Bill Hall 2. MacDougal, Aardsma, Richar, Floyd, Uribe and cash to Baltimore for Roberts and Bedard. Don't laugh - the Orioles have no shortstop, need bullpen arms, would love the PR from Floyd since he is an Annapolis native, and seem determined to chop payroll. 3. Matt Thornton and John Shelby for Coco Crisp (if the Santana deal does not happen). Red Sox don't need much, but could use another lefty out of the pen. Just some thoughts. We still need more pieces to contend ... If the Sox could pull any of these moves off, that would be sweet for us! I like the Dotel signing---now I say bring the butterball back. Join us, Bartolo!

I remember a few things about relief pitchers that were fringe in our system. Didn't Paniagua do something like flick off the crowd or something and IIRC, didn't Pena get threatened to be shot by a gunman if he hit another St. Louis Cardinal batter?
-
QUOTE(A's fan @ Jan 16, 2008 -> 03:03 PM) I may get one Can you elaborate?

It would really make sense for the Sox to take a flier on Colon at the price Lieber is at. Isn't Colon younger and doesn't he have better numbers than Lieber? I may be wrong, but I'd gamble on Colon like the Cubs with Lieber.

Why all the hate for Graffanino, Gload and Perry?
