How about a deal like this? 5 years, 86 million. 08' '09 '10 '11 '12 14, 16, 18, 18.5, 19.5 Would JR walk in and deal with one of his players without KW involved? I'm just curious.

Make sure you recap it for me, since I'll be down at the ballpark!

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) There's not a chance in hell we can afford both Buehrle and Garland. There is a chance if we deal Contreras, because I know how KW loves Javy. That'd subtract quite a bit of money, and with others (such as Dye) leaving we'll have some money to spend. 5 years, 70-80 million dollars is acceptable for Buehrle. I can see Garland being replaced easily, especially if we deal Dye and Contreras at the deadline for some young guys. Maybe I'm completely off, but it sounded today like Buehrle wants to stay here. Especially since he's starting a family around here.

I'll be there tonight, and I'm 10-1 against NL opponents (4-0) against the Cubs.

Picture yourself on a boat on a river. Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river. Old Mississippi, she's calling my name Why don't you come along and mosey on down, I said down, come on down, down by the lazy river. She sits on the dock a fishin' in the water uh, huh. She's so very nice, you should break the ice, let her know that she's on your mind. Across the streams of hopes and dreams where things are really not. Have to believe we are magic, nothing can stand in our way. Look here, Brother - Who you jivin' wit dat Cozmik Debris? When that moon gets big and bright, it's a supernatural delight. You wish upon a star that turns into a plane Don't know when I'll be back again Take my chances on a big jet plane - Never let 'em tell you that they're all the same Big ol jet airliner, don't carry me too far away Take off to the Great White North, take off... it's a beauty way to go. I'm freezing, I'm starving, I'm bleeding to death, EVERYTHING'S FINE!!!!!!! Might as well go for a soda, nobody drowns and nobody dies She put the lime in the coconut, she drank 'em both up. Yes I like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain. I'm a juvenile product of the working class, who's best friend floats in the bottom of a glass. Don't let them call you a juvenile delinquent. Don't let them say, say that you're bad. Some people call me a walkin' disaster - Just a waitin' for a place to occur Dont try to turn my head away, I'm flirtin' with disaster every day. And if you give me weed, whites, and wine and you show me a sign, I'll be willin' to be movin'. Wine, wine, wine (Elderberry!) Wine, wine, wine (Woo! Sherry!) There'll be lots of time and wine, red yellow honey sassafras and moonshine. In the mist of sassafras many things will come to pass. Pass me a bottle, Mistah Jones. Believe in me, 'cause I don't believe in anything. Because something is happening here. But you don't know what it is. Do you, Mister Jones? Look out Kid, don't matter what you did. Walk on your tip toes, don't try No Doz better stay away from those. Oh, tiptoe from the garden. By the garden of the willow tree and tiptoe through the tulips with me. Don't frown Tulip, make a smile, Don't frown Tulip, you know it's all worthwhile. Oh, c'mon smile a little smile for me, Rosemarie. What's the use in cryin' ? The angel in your arms this morning is gonna be the devil in someone else's arms tonight. To arms! 2 arms? Hooray that's great, 2 legs ain't bad 'less there's a crate they ship the parts to Mama in. Now, Who'll take the woman with the skinny legs? C'mon somebody please take the lady with the skinny legs. Now walk those legs right over here, give me what I'm dying for. Schoolgirl sweetie with a classy kinda sassy little skirt's climbin' way up the knee. She wore a peasant blouse with nothing underneath, I said "Hi", she said "Yeah, I guess I am". Then I guess she had to crash. Valium would have helped that dash. Go ask Alice, I think she'll know. And you know, you know I love you so, my love Cuz she was all Yellow, yeah, yeah, yeah They call it mellow yellow(quite rightly) Have you never been mellow, have you never tried to find the comfort from inside you. And it's good old country comforts in my bones. Just the sweetest sound my ears have ever known. Now they've found me, at last they've found me. It's hard to run, from a starving family. Yes I've got some candy kisses for your lips, yes I've got some honeysuckle chocolate dripping kisses full of love for you. Some day soon I'll make you mine, then I'll have candy all the time. one pair of candy lips and your bubblegum tongue and if you want love We'll make it Swim a deep sea Of blankets Take all your big plans And break 'em This is bound to be a while Your body Is a wonderland

Guys, rethink getting into an argument with a woman
The Beast replied to LowerCaseRepublican's topic in SLaM
I don't think that's even possible. I hope someone practices a hammurabi's code on her, that's what I'd want as well as compensation, too. -
QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 06:00 PM) Well at this rate it looks like we will get a top 10 pick even though our scouting department would tank it on another note how empty will the cell be this week against the Marlins and on another note the Bears released the training camp scheudule. I am curious, I know it's unlikely, but would people going to these games actually boo the Sox when they take the field that night? Or at least people that aren't performing? I think we'll get at least 25,000 this week, I'll be in attendance on Tuesday evening for my girlfriends birthday present to me.

QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 05:18 PM) I thought Willie Harris was supposed to be the next Ray Durham when we got him. We should have just kept Ray-Ray because he was exciting to watch and IMO, is still better than Iguchi. But maybe the times have changed. Speaking of which, can you see KW trading Iguchi to Anaheim or Seattle since he wants to play somewhere warmer? (Possibly closer to home?) -
I can't wait for Pods and Erstad to come back because these AAA players are miserable. (With the exception of Fields)

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) But resign Buehrle. The quickest way to turn the ship around will be to keep Buehrle and Garland. I agree with you when you say resign Buehrle and keep Garland, too. I think the Sox wanted to see how Buehrle could rebound from last year, and I think Buehrle wanted to perform in his contract year so he can test the market. However, Buehrle could take the Konerko like route and stay with the Sox. If they could, they should subtract: Contreras, Uribe, Crede, (in the off-season) Dye, Podsednik (not sure what his value is), Erstad (in the off-season) and Anderson. What could you get for Contreras?

I think we need to just realize that our bullpen is just not good. And that it might not get better until later on in the season. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 12:42 AM) You guys really do have some terrible journalists / media guys up there. What are you talking about? It is so much better to get a real response instead of some cliche crap that a coach or player makes up. I love when people are put into a position where they are forced to say something blunt.

LoL, I'd tell you guys my story of how I met a girl and still am with her after two years while successfully transforming her into a Sox fan, but I doubt any of you would believe me.

Crede Out Again, Possible DL Trip (per Score)
The Beast replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This could be the greatest thing that's happened to our club, KW is now forced to bring up Fields and see if he can fill Credes "big" shoes to fill. -
Jesus Pena, who nearly got killed at a game.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 31, 2007 -> 12:10 AM) Shingo Takatsu (spent $210 on a jersey too) Tony Graffanino Willie Harris Bill Simas Josh Paul Rock Biddle's sideburns Miguel Olivo I loved the Milkman too but he started here for a while and was a pretty key guy. Timo Perez will always have a soft spot in my heart as well. No joke, I liked Timo. not-so known? Although Durham is my favorite White Sox player ever. Well, Durham was just kind of forgotten and people gave him the FU attitude like they did Magglio (which is crap in my opinion.) Canseco was kind of just a late 2001 add-on so we wouldn't look like we sucked that year of Todd Ritchie and 20 losses, and Gordon is another one people forget about.

Billy Simas, Geoff Blum, Jamie Burke, Jose Canseco, Sean Lowe, Brook Fordyce, Gary Glover, Ray Durham, Tom Gordon, and D'Angelo Jimenez.

They should have just played a doubleheader tomorrow, the problem is finding the people to work then, day and night, that is.

White Sox vs. Devil Rays, 5/25/07 (W)
The Beast replied to briguy27's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Lets hope that we get to Shields early, I don't want to see another loss for what we pay for our seats. Lets also hope we don't acquire this guy in the off-season and have KW say, "Cooper can fix this guy." If we do, I'll be all over SoxFest and asking him, "How many projects do we need to have, Kenny, for you to stop this insanity?" -
Thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes, gentlemen. It's unfortunate that my favorite sports team can't win on my birthday, though. I thought sqwert was talking about me, lol. Not that it matters anyway.
-
I'm not sure that this team will place 4th. I mean, seeing the roster, we've got a lot of gambles on the bullpen, and our pitching staff isn't that much improved. With the hitters and the defense that we have, I think we'll be fine. But the pitching is my main concern because that separates the 1st place team from a 4th place team. ESPN the Magazine is full of s***. Although, I'd like to see A-Row come back to this team via trade, a la Jon Lieber as well?
-
Same s***, different day for Buehrle.
