  1. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 06:10 PM) What I mean is the Phils agreed to pay X amount per year ($22 Million overall), so the Sox don't actually get that money, the Phillies just continue to pay that portion of Thome's contract. The number that comes out even per year is if they pay $6.5 million per year and also cover the $2.5 million bonus Thome is due this year. That would total the $22 million exactly. I can be WAY off, like they front or back load the deal, but it should be fairly close to the numbers above. No problem with the numbers; dude, I was just like, everyone will blast me if I say "they have 22 mil to spend" instead of "soxtalk users said we have 22 mil to spend." I am so very excited about this offseason, SoxFest, and this year.
  2. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) Depending how exactly the $22 Million will be broken out per year, the Sox would only increase their current team salary by abour $4-5 Million for the Thome trade, Konerko resigning @ 4/52, and some sort of Pierre trade. Has JR set a budget? How can we be certain they don't have the money?
  3. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) Without looking at the numbers, I'm almost certain the Sox cannot afford both Pierre and Konerko. 3-6 mil and 12-14 mil? It is quite possible for them to do that. However; all of this is speculation, especially Pierre, who is being courted by the Cubs, too.
  4. I really like this trade. I ultimately think that Thome will add so much of a bat in our lineup. It is a MUST that the White Sox re-sign Paul Konerko long term. IMO, this deal would not have been made without Thomas being questionable. With the trade being done; we now have the most powerful lineup in the American League; with the following being done. Damaso Marte straight up for Pierre. Signing Konerko long term. There's your offseason. Maybe sign a relief pitcher to boost the bullpen. We can only hope that Hermanson is going to be back to his old form for next year. Hoping Jenks stays around on this club too. Now you guys can complain about these two prospects all you want; but didn't we make trades involving other pitching prospects before? Honestly, those guys would NOT have made it to the big leagues in the next few years. We can deal with the problem of lack of pitching eventually; but lets win now. What happened when we won now? We won the World Series this year. And we didn't give up a guy like BMac. I think its safe to say that Konerko will stay now. I don't believe he'll leave. Remember; this could affect us positively at the park with attendence. "Lets go see Jim Thome play!" He's a big name throughout the league with the rest of the bunch. Remember how awesome he was with Cleveland? He scared the living piss out of me when he came up to bat. We have such a small-dimensioned ballpark that he'll get at least 40+ homeruns, 100+ RBI's. To what soxtalk posters have said, we have 22 million to spend. I don't get it; because the media says thats for his contract. I love this trade. Screw the prospects. I want to win again. And I want to win now. Jim Thome, your table is ready; Welcome to the South Side.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) I'd put even money on the fact that Thome will be there Ross. Cool! Anyone able to spare two tickets? I'll bump this up later on, but just asking.
  6. I know its "sold out," but I need to get 2 tickets for Friday so my dad and I can go...we'll discuss how much ticket prices are or the payment method. If you have some, give me a PM. By the way; anyone think Thome will be there?
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Bryan will be doing pre & post for Notre Dame mens basketball I hear which is good for him. I also hear that the Score will not be bringing him along to do the Sox pre & post.. which, IMO, is bad for Sox fans. No big loss, he wasn't THAT good anyway.

    Marte

God, I can't stand people who boo our own players at the games. It really doesn't help them or make them feel welcome. Players have feelings too. Or should I say, why don't you get your ass out there and get someone out? Or why don't you be hired as GM? Yeah, thats what I thought.
  9. Was at the game tonight. Now if only EVERY game was like that at the Cell. Jenks was the key to tonights game, there's no way in hell we would have won if he didn't get those two scoreless frames. Gooch too. That rally was sweet. Chats coming out of the ballpark were great. "Lets go sox" "SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP!!!" And I loved my seats sitting on the patio, I was 21 for 2 and a half hours. =)
  10. Which only means we're going to get into that Series...and regain the respect we deserve from this town.
  11. “Win or die trying” is the rooters rally cry Paulie is the tune they always sung Ozzie echoed April through October nights After serenading Selig, Williams and Reinsdorf Nancy is a maiden with a sparkling eye Nancy is a maiden with a love She doesn't know the meaning of her sight She's got an organ full of love And sometimes when the game is on the line Konerko always carried them away Up the road from 31st to the Dan Ryan The boys will always sing and sway Two! Three! Four! Division, "Nuf Ced" we shouted We're not here to mess around Chicago, you know we love you madly Hear the crowd roar to your sound Don't blame us if we ever doubt you You know we couldn't live without you White Sox, you are the only only only The real fans showed up at the cell one day They found their seats had all been sold We led the charge into the park Stormed the gates and put the game on hold The fans gave the other team a dreadful fright Chicago’s tenth man could not be wrong Up from 31st to the Dan Ryan They'd sing another victory song Two! Three! Four! Cubs suck, Ozzie Guillen shouted We're not here to mess around Chicago, you know we love you madly Hear the crowd roar to your sound Don't blame us if we ever doubt you You know we couldn't live without you White Sox, you are the only only only The fans gave the other team a dreadful fright Chicago’s tenth man could not be wrong Up from 31st to the Dan Ryan They'd sing another victory song Two! Three! Four! White Sox, "Win or Die Trying" Ozzie shouted We're not here to mess around Chicago, you know we love you madly Hear the crowd roar to your sound Don't blame us if we ever doubt you You know we couldn't live without you White Sox, you are the only only only Don't blame us if we ever doubt you You know we couldn't live without you Chicago, you are the only only only Don't blame us if we ever doubt you You know we couldn't live without you White Sox, you are the only only only
  12. I'm all for Steve Stone to come in and be commentator for us. But thats just me.
  13. I like Paulie's. Its a Metallica song, and boy, hearing that with Paulie coming to the plate with runners on, it makes me chill.
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) Buehrle needs to step up tomorrow, neither Garcia or Hermanson did tonite. I'll say this again, like I did to dad the other day. "Before the Sox get anywhere and win something, everyone on that 25 man roster needs their head out of their asses."
  15. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) Excuse me?I think that Borchard deserves a start or three before the season ends Your not excused. He's a fringy 26 year old piece of s*** that will always be a AAAA player that is a quarter back at heart and there are 5.6 million reasons why he's not out there and Dye is.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) This is the type of game which can easily be the beginning of the end for a team. This was one of the worst losses I can remember for the White Sox. This is THE worst loss I've seen the White Sox play in. EVER.
  17. QUOTE(lord chas @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) you suck balls ozzie and wheres borchard Borchard sucks. Dye is MUCH better than Borchard. Borchard is a piece of s***.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) We just lost to the f***ing KC royals with our number 2 pitcher going, our closer in, and our offense scoring 9 f***ing runs. This team doesnt deserve the f***ing playoffs. Hit it right on the noggin. We suck.
  19. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) Hermy gets the first out and we get smoked. The Twins are going to kick our ass this weekend unless we wake up. It's all up to the Tribe. It's their division to lose now. We are a mess of a team. I agree. I can't stand this team right now. They truely suck.
  20. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) Jermaine. Dye. SUCKS. We really SUCK
  21. f*** this s***. If we go to the playoffs like this, we truely are garbage.
  22. QUOTE(beck72 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) All things being equal [no attitude problems, injuries etc] Vizcaino is about the only guy Marte could replace. I'd rather see BMac being the 11th pitcher on the playoff roster than Marte. Esp. seeing how both he and Jenks have much better splits vs LH hitters than RH hitters. Add in the fact that Marte may have burned some bridges, "losing" him isn't that big a deal. In fact, it may bring the team closer if Marte is a bit of a head case. Vizcaino has gotten better. I mean in his outing's he's cut down the amount of earned runs that bothered me early on in the year. Even in the games where they were up by 5 or so.
  23. I'd start McCarthy. I know he has barely reached the minimum of pitching in the regular season, but its a good risk involved if you win, pushing Buehrle back a day with Garcia and then Hernandez starting if needed. At least, that's what I'd do.
  24. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) Havent been watching to much White Sox baseball, have we? I've been watching somewhat. I get busy in September. All I know is that we need to get to the playoffs first. We can't lolly gag and expect to make it. After all, we play 6 games against the Indians.
