Would you be on board with a trade to the Colts? -
Thank you for sharing the nice article, it helps bring who Dave Wills was to life. My first call to the postgame show was with him and he made me feel like a million bucks on the air as a 6th grader. I’ll never forget it.

Dave Wills, former White Sox pre and post game host, Elmhurst College alum and voice of the Tampa Bay Rays passed away at 58.

My other train of thought would be to do something like you have proposed, but the player they get should be under contract for another year and be young enough to fit their roster. I would be okay with a draft like that. Building from the inside of the line as you have done makes sense. I would also be okay with this type of return. I would be underwhelmed if it didn’t include at least two first round picks and a second round pick. -

I know there’s a good reason to be concerned about what Carter did, but I still think some NFL team will select him high in the draft. I don’t think this hurts the Bears too much, there will be some team that is desperate for the quarterback and will trade them for what they want. My prediction is they will either draft Will Anderson or trade with the Colts to get picks (4, 2024 first and another pick) as well as a defensive player off their roster at a minimum. Where are all of you on this? -
I would love to hear about that sometime. Maybe we need a thread where everyone talks about their jobs and how they got into their field. We probably derailed this thread but I enjoyed learning about education from your perspective.?

I appreciate hearing this from you, particularly about how you reach your students and what your district is doing to involve kids. The cricket idea would be a good one for the refugee kids since they would have a sense of belonging and meet other like minded kids. My wife has said she has kids come from countries like Poland and she’s not sure how the school helps these kids. Some kids know other languages and can translate for the other kids, but it’s not that kid’s responsibility to teach the other student. She does what she can for all of her students but with resource limitations it sounds like she can’t do it all for her kids. One other question for you - how is grading handled in your district when it comes to zeros? When I went to school kids had zeros for partial credit for turning something in, but now I guess they are giving 50% and can’t give zeros for missing assignments. That to me takes away from accountability.

Hopefully he was one athlete that managed his money well and set himself up for life. What, this? -
I like that there is an emphasis on getting kids involved and connecting them to a teacher with a shared interest. Then a coach or club leader gets accountability out of their student athlete. What kinds of kids are the ones that the staff can’t connect with?

What if online education isn’t for every kid? How would you start from scratch? Is being isolated from others the best thing for them at a K-12 age? I’m a little old school, but my dad made the point that education is needed to get a good job. Even if someone doesn’t need geometry for a future career, they need to take pre-reqs to get into programs and understand that what they learn today is what will help them meet educational demands of tomorrow. I always had a tough time understanding why so many kids talked during class and got away with it. I was in math and science classes that were lower level since I was misplaced. The kids that were in there were among the most disrespectful and were not willing to try to learn. I wish kids would understand school is not a happy hour and is their job. If they want to be social, join a club or sport or get it out in gym class instead of talking over the teacher in the classroom.

Matt Nagy gets second stint as Chiefs' offensive coordinator -
Interesting. Could it be that teenagers don’t believe adults have some authority and that they don’t need to be held accountable? Did the lack of accountability from school during Covid make them think they could get away with bad behavior? Is it a new generation of parents and instead of parents blaming kids they blame the teachers for poor performance? Or is it being out of the classroom for that long that changed the world where kids care less about school, more about what they see on social media and don’t have the understanding that an education is needed to advance to college or a trade school to get a good job? It seems like some of these are possibilities.

I think a double trade down in the first round could be a fun idea but also a bad idea. I would feel more comfortable with staying at number 1 or trading with the Colts and selecting Anderson or Carter than doing a double trade down for less blue chip caliber players or accumulate picks in the future and then be at the mercy of best available in the teens. I also want more of a balanced draft from both sides of the ball, but one thing that is missing from the mock drafts is what they will do in free agency. If they invest in defense in free agency then maybe they do what your awesome to watch idea suggests. -
Andrus to the Sox, expected to play 2B, 1 yr, $3 mil

I forgot about Cueto, but he was one of the other dudes who showed up last year. -

I’m a fan of bringing Andrus back since they didn’t spend money to go get Jean Segura. $3M is a bargain for Andrus, given what he did last year and his veteran presence to light some fire under some asses who really need it. I don’t see him getting DFA’d and am glad we have the depth when someone inevitably gets hurt. Andrus is one of the few guys on this team that I trust to show up and play, just like Hendriks and Abreu last year. For those who laughed at or bitched about the move, saying that this money shouldn’t have been spent, do you really think this money would have brought another impactful player right now and that this will stop them from adding mid year if the situation calls for it? -

The picks were what made that deal as bad as it was for Denver. The guaranteed money was bad, but the picks were worse. Maybe Payton can turn things around but I don’t know what kind of cap room they have since they really don’t have many picks. -
I would only listen to those guys if I knew they were having a Sox guest on since they get those interviews. Bernstein and Holmes is my favorite show followed up by Parkins and Spiegel. Each show has something I like and don’t like about them, but there are bright spots even if it isn’t the Score of old. Also apparently AM 1000 is bringing Mc, Jurko and Harry back to do a broadcast on 3/24. Mac said it on his Facebook, I thought it was cool.

I’m still trying to understand what people believe should be done at the federal level as opposed to the state level. I know different agencies were deployed before FEMA. This is a major story but between finger pointing at Biden, DeWine and the railroad owners I don’t know who people are truly pissed at.
-
Yeah I remember it all. He was going to get fired.
-
I just didn’t understand the vitriol towards him, particularly on his way out in the last year. He made mistakes but he was far from the worst coach they ever had. I had more of an issue with players playing like s%*# and Ryan Pace than I did with Nagy.

Bears fans who hate Matt Nagy - he might be the Chiefs offensive coordinator, even in name only. He also might take over for Reid when he retires.
