Newsday added: "Such a deal would have pitfalls, but in the Yankees' eyes, those pitfalls could be less perilous than a pursuit of free agent Bartolo Colon or Montreal right-hander Javier Vazquez. Colon would cost more money -- he has a three-year, $36-million offer from the White Sox, for whom he pitched last season, and some Yankees officials have concerns about his rotund shape and mental makeup. Vazquez likely would cost Alfonso Soriano in a deal, and he has only one year to go before free agency."
